Step back in time and explore the Victorian streets

Explore four floors of interactive and exciting galleries. Come face to face with the Leeds tiger, step into Ancient Worlds to meet Nesyamun, the Leeds mummy, and dig for fossils in the Life on Earth gallery. Changing special exhibitions, as well as weekly family friendly clubs and activities.

Abbey House Museum was once the gatehouse to Kirkstall Abbey. Today it is a lively family friendly museum. Wander the beautifully created authentic Victorian streets for a glimpse of life in 19th century Leeds. Visitor information:

Kirkstall Abbey is one of the best preserved Cistercian monasteries in the country. Feel a true sense of the past as you stroll through its tranquil grounds, surrounded by stunning parkland on the banks of the River Aire. From elephant skulls to a Medieval log boat, this purpose built store and conservation facility houses objects from Leeds Museum and Galleries Collections which are not on permanent display at other sites across the City. We will be displaying fabulous warrior shirts and headdresses, horse equipment, women’s arts, sacred pipes and animal regalia, and paintings by the artist Richard Hook. The British Museum tour will include modern PowWow costumes as well as star historical items.
