“Wherever you go: keep your eyes open. Watch and explore your environment, look how things are built and learn. The best ideas are not created in your head but absorbed and combined from what happens around you. Tuula, my teacher at Helsinki University of Technology, about how to create architecture.

WHAT I HAVE ALREADY DONE...
WHAT I WOULD WANT TO DO...
Letting myself go, nature, being spontanious, the feeling of speaking a new language, raw wood, skandinavian design, taking risks, mountains, topological architecture, running, structures which can be reassembled, ocean, lakes, intelligent concepts, white, all animals, putting people in renderings, baking cakes, harbors, my family, googling things, super food, riding a horse on a beach, ecological design, computers, how velvet feels like, the voice of Tom Odell, people who are entrepreneurs, snowboarding, photoshopping stuff, not having restrictions, Dr. Martens Boots, smiling people.
understood that I will be wiser tomorrow than I am today, ran a marathon, seen China, noticed that working hard is more important than being talented, met incredibly hard working people, met the king of Sweden, learnt three languages, gone from completely hopeless with computers to completely awesome with computers, won a medall in national level sports, worked on a constuction site, worked as a mascot, worked as a garbage instructor, played Chopin with piano, broken bones, learnt to ask from people wiser than me, made mistakes, programmed a small app.
Travel to Africa, be a project manager, run an ultra marathon, get some sort of a prize, renovate my dream apartment completely white, laugh every day, go snowboarding in Japan, learn to speak Norwegian, be able to draw any building detail I want, sky dive, arrange extraordinary charity work for old people, breed dogs, learn to do 360째 with a snowboard, cage dive with white sharks, climb at Kilimanjaro, meat Rem Koolhaas, find gold in Lapland, travel on TransSiberian Railway, learn 3DMAX, learn programming Python, see Vancouver, take a ferry to Svalbard, see polar bears in nature.

KAUNISNURMI URBAN RENEWAL PLAN: NEW HOUSING BLOCK KOUVOLA, FINLAND
7
K AU N I S N U R MI URBAN RENEWAL PLAN: N E W HOUS I NG BLOCK
As a part of the Kaunisnurmi Urban renewal plan I did for the city of Kouvola, I presented a new housing block concept with more detailed plans. This housing block built of wood is inspired by the old Finnish
wood town, the surrounding landscape and the Kouvola Museum Quarter nearby. The aim was to activate the life on the street through front yards and terraces as well as apartment specific entrances.
The ground floor apartments extend through the building body opening to both street and inner courtyard. However, the block is open in order to avoid a too urban atmosphere.

The Berliininpiha housing block Helsinki is a mixture of privately owned dwellings and social housing: its apartments are everything from small studios to luxury apartments with terraces and saunas.
I worked in a three person team at ARK-house Arkkitehdit in the construction design, and was responsible for part of the construction drawings of the complex.

AS OY ESPOON KOUKKUNIEMENRANTA RESIDENTIAL COMPLEX ESPOO, FINLAND
Designed after the winning of an invitational competition, the Koukkuniemenranta residential complex is a high class living ensemble which merges into the surrounding landscape of woods and
the Baltic sea shore. There are different kind of apartments - part of them in duplex houses and a part in the four storey apartment buildings. A connection to the nature through spacious terraces was
important to the design. I worked as a part of team in Arkkitehdit Kirsi Korhonen ja Mika Penttinen in initial design as well as construction design of the project.

“MEIJÄN TORI” KALASATAMA HOUSING BLOCK HELSINKI, FINLAND “Meijän Tori” is a mixeduse housing block with both townhouse and highrise dwellings. The design was a part of my output at the Housing Design Studio at Aalto University and was an assignment from Helsingin Asuntotuotan-
totoimisto - the non-profit building developer owned by the city of Helsinki - as they wanted to look into the possibilities of an urban car-free housing block in the new Kalasatama area.

Kaunisnurmi Urban Renewal Plan concentrates on developing the suburban residential area of Kouvola, which is suffering from problems in functionality and obsolescence of its buildings and public
areas. I did the plan as a commission from city of Kouvola in KLIKK Research Project. The plan emphasized updating the urban structure with infill building and renovation using wood as building material.

In 2010 as a consultant in ARK-house Arkkitehdit for the City of Espoo I made the plan which defines a color concept for the new housing area in Espoo, Finland. The main emphasis was to create a story for the colors and to enhance the consistency of the built environment.
This concept was used as an outline for architects designing the buildings within the area. The area has 325 hectares in total and a permitted building volume of one million square meters. The construction started in 2010.

Kirkas Design is our design collaborative focusing on graphic design, visualization and web design especially in the field of architecture, construction and real estate. After working on several projects as in-
