Why should I choose Lees-McRae College? The Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences (BAAS) degree in Criminal Justice is designed for motivated adult learners. Lees-McRae College, fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, cares about students as individuals, not as numbers. We use an adult learner-centered approach that recognizes the family, home and employment responsibilities of our students. We believe in getting to know you and your goals. We take a personal approach with each student and create an environment that supports your learning.

This program is offered on the campuses of:

Mayland Community College, Western Piedmont Community College and Online Learning (beginning Spring 2014)

What sets Lees-McRae College apart? Build on your Associate’s degree: The foundation of the program is the two-year Applied Arts and Sciences Degree in Criminal Justice. The last two years of your four-year bachelor’s degree are obtained through Lees-McRae College. You enter the program as a junior, and in only four semesters, you can complete the Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences Degree in Criminal Justice (BAAS). Classes are scheduled for the working professional: Seated classes are offered one night per week, and some classes are offered in an online format. You take four classes per semester. This schedule provides flexibility while also ensuring personal contact with you and providing a positive teaching/learning atmosphere. The addition of a fully online option beginning Spring 2014 will enhance the flexibility of the program. Real world experiences are built into the program: Internships that provide real life experiences in the criminal justice field are extremely valuable and enhance learning. If you work in the criminal justice field, you may receive some credit for your life experiences while also learning new ways to apply your knowledge to your specific job. If you are new to criminal justice, your internship will provide opportunities to work alongside criminal justice professionals. There are no hidden prerequisite courses: Since our program builds on your associate’s degree, prerequisites are not necessary. Applicants who need additional general education courses not included in the Criminal Justice Bachelor’s Degree Completion Program can take them after entering the program.
