Make a splash on your corporate day out by taking on an Olympic-level challenge! If you really want your team to go for gold, where better to inspire them than the very course used for the Canoe Slalom events at the London 2012 Games. You’ll get that adrenalin pumping and turn your group into winners when you take the ride of your life on our Olympic standard grade four rapids, fed by 13,000 litres of water a second. Lee Valley White Water Centre was home to GB’s 2012 medal winning canoe slalom team and is still used for training week in, week out. It’s a great spot for you to bond with your own team, or with clients, to challenge and to reward. Your team members will rise to any task when they’ve tackled our world class rapids together, and, of course, we’ll keep everyone safe, with our expert guides. We’ll help you celebrate afterwards too with a buffet or barbecue. With our top notch on site meeting facilities you can combine work and play. And if you’d rather watch others battling the white water, you can soak up the inspiring atmosphere, without actually getting a soaking!

Rafting FAQs
Tackling the 300m grade 4 Olympic Standard Competition Course is a thrilling challenge, and one that you’ll be desperate to repeat.
If you can’t find the answer to your question below then feel free to contact one of the team on 01992 655 976.
Ready for the ride of your life? Take on our 300 metre grade 4 Olympic Standard Competition Course and you’ll be dodging obstacles and braving drops, all the while feeling the force of the 13,000 litres of water that power down the route every second. Don’t worry if your team has never tackled something like this before. Not only will you be fully kitted out for your challenge, you’ll be shown how to raft beforehand, then one of our expert guides will be with you in the boat to steer you round. You’re sure to experience some boat-based bonding as you pit your skills against the waves before celebrating with some drinks in the bar, or a perhaps a barbecue or hog roast. There’ll be plenty to talk about back at the office as you relive this away day like no other.

White water raft bookings - Fire up your
group with an adrenalin ride and use teamwork to tackle the waves, or channel the buzzing atmosphere to help create a successful launch event. With our charter package, up to nine people can share a raft for £440.
We’ll even throw in a £50 drinks voucher. Bigger groups can book up multiple rafts – if there’s enough of you we’ll let you take over the course!
What days can we book for? Depending on the size of your booking we can host corporate groups any day of the week but we do find midweek usually works best.
What should my team bring? All equipment is provided – just bring your swimmers and a towel. We’ll give you wetsuits, buoyancy aids, helmets and wet boots. If you’d prefer to bring your own wet boots and/or wetsuits please feel free – wetsuits must be full length and wet boots must cover your ankles.
How long does our time on the water last? The rafting session will last for two hours and we ask you to turn up half an hour before, to get kitted out and meet the staff. Please allow three to four hours at the centre from moment of arrival to your departing time – though you’re welcome to stay and relax longer!
How many people can we put in a raft? A raft will contain up to nine people. Unfortunately we’re unable to guarantee your group will be kept together unless you charter a whole raft. If you have a bigger team you can book more rafts – you can take over the whole course if you like!
Can we add a competitive element to the activity? Once you’ve mastered the art of navigating the course you can turn up the volume and let your competitive nature surface. Choose from a time challenge where you go head to head with your colleagues to be the fastest raft down the course, or enjoy fun runs which get more adventurous each time.
Does everyone have to be able to swim? No, we provide buoyancy aids, but you’ll need to be confident in open water as the currents in our white water course are very strong and could throw you around.
Are there any height or weight restrictions? 18 stone / 144kgs is the maximum weight. There are no height restrictions.
Can rafters wear glasses?
Will we fall in? You may well take a tumble into grade four rapids, so be prepared. Our bank safety team will be on hand to rescue anyone who falls out and safely help them from the water then back aboard your raft. You will all have been taught the safe swimming position and how to get out of the water in your earlier activity assessment.
Can anyone do it? Due to the speed of the rapids, this exhilarating experience is not suitable for anyone not confident in open water. Rafters must be over 14 but there’s no upper age limit. Wherever possible we offer equal access to all people. Please contact the centre to discuss any individual disabilities or requirements. A reasonable level of fitness is required to take part in any physical activity. You also need to be sober, so make sure everyone saves celebratory drinks till the café/bar afterwards.
If spectacles are necessary for you to participate in the activity we encourage plastic lenses or contact lenses as glass lenses are not suitable.

How would your group cope if shipwrecked on a desert island? Here’s your chance to find out. We give you barrels, planks and ropes and you have to pull together to create a raft that could carry you to safety. We’ll split you into teams to ramp up the competition: the first to make it across the lake wins. It helps break the ice, encourages bonding and is soaking great fun!
Our lake is as big as two football pitches so there’s plenty of room for you to wield your paddle and get a kick out of kayaking. We provide kayaks, buoyancy aids and safety helmets; you provide the fun.
Capture your experience by booking one of our team of professional sports photographers to snap or film your big day. You’ll have proof of your hairy moments out on the white water and shots of your group to take home with the happy memories. We’ll follow all the action so you can laugh and gasp as you relive the day’s events when you get back to your home or office.

Hydrospeeding Really feel the thrill of the rapids with this fun and physical white water challenge. A hydrospeed is a cross between a bodyboard and the floats you use when learning to swim. You’ll use this and your own power to carve, turn and surf through every twist and turn of our 160 metre Legacy Loop - the second white water channel at the venue. Build up your confidence and really start to play with the current. Hour and a half sessions include an activity assessment to check you’re fit to take part. Bring your swimmers and we’ll provide the rest of the kit.

Water wipeout Turn gladiator on our 18 metre waterborne inflatable obstacle course. Notch up wins or wettings as an individual or part of a team when we set you various challenges. Sessions last for an hour. £22 per person
