HISTORY & HERITAGE
Where Ontario Began Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry date back over two centuries when United Empire Loyalists and other European immigrants of German, Irish, and Dutch decent settled in the area. Following the Highland Clearances, a large influx of Scottish immigrants also
BETHUNE THOMPSON HOUSE 19730 John Street Williamstown 613-347-7192
landed during the 1780s, primarily in what would become modern day Glengarry. Many of the traditions and cultures of these settlers would endure over time and shape the social fabric of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry to this very day.
