INTER LIBRARY LOAN…
is a way of obtaining books and other materials not stocked in Leicester College Libraries, but which we may be able to borrow from other libraries for you.
Types of materials that you may ask for via INTER LIBRARY LOAN:
BOOKS are usually obtained easily and take 7 – 10 days to arrive. It occasionally may take longer if, for example, the book you want is very popular, there may be a waiting list and you will have to wait in turn.
JOURNALS / PERIODICALS / MAGAZINES specific articles are usually supplied either as photocopies or print-outs (if delivered electronically), which you may keep. These take 2 – 7 days to arrive.
Inter Library Loan is a FREE service which Leicester College Libraries offer. However, ALL requests must be directly related to your course of study at Leicester College.
How to make a request….. Ask a member of Library staff to take the details of the item The more information you can give us, the quicker the item is likely to be supplied A source of reference is helpful to confirm details Leave your ID number, name and contact details When the item arrives….. We will inform you that it is ready for collection The length of time you may keep the item depends on the library which owns it, but it is usually 3 – 4 weeks Prompt return is important in order to maintain good relations with other libraries Overdue items….. If a loan is returned to us late, then any costs imposed by the lending library will be payable by you Lost items….. If you lose an item that has been borrowed for you, then ALL replacement and any administration charges made by the lending library will be payable by you
