What does this mean? Well, throughout this directory you will see adverts for various venues and wedding suppliers. The exciting interactive feature means that when you ‘click’ or’tap’ on an advert you will be redirected straight to the online platform of the supplier that you have clicked on. Most of the suppliers have chosen to link their adverts to their websites and some have opted to link their adverts to a social media business page eg Facebook or Instagram. Q: If there is heavy rain on the wedding day, is it possible to still get good photos and how do you work around this?

A: As the song says, “Like Ra-a-ain on your Wedding Day”, it may be ironic, but it’s no need for panic. If you think about it, most things on your wedding day happen indoors anyway. The wedding details and preparation shots, the bridal party and family portraits are at the house or hotel in the morning. A church ceremony is indoors, and every hotel will have a suitable indoor option for civil ceremonies in the event of rain. You really need less than an hour of clear weather in the afternoon for a location shoot between the ceremony and the hotel. Professional wedding photographers with knowledge of the area where you are getting married should have a couple of local spots in mind that will work in the event of bad weather, and I always have some cream wedding umbrellas with me which are practical and make great props. If the day is a total washout (very rare) I take the wedding party to a traditional pub for some casual fun photographs and some downtime before they hit the drinks reception. There is also time before dinner, while your guests are being seated, to get photographs in the bridal suite or around the grounds of the hotel.
Q: In your opinion, where are the best locations in Munster for wedding photography?

A: This is a tough question. Munster has so many wonderful locations and each place is special. I love introducing scenic backdrops into my Wedding Photography, so I do love amazing views, expansive skies, impression castles & mansions, and rolling hills. Even though I’m a Cork-man, I have to admit that Kerry, and in particular, Killarney, has all these features in-spades. You have lakes, mountains, Castles and manor Houses – you’re spoilt for choice. Saying that, a very underrated and overlooked location is the Beara Peninsula in West Cork. If you truly want wild and unspoilt vistas in your Wedding Photography, then this is the place to go. In peak summer season you could be competing with bus-loads of tourists in Killarney, while in Beara you have it all to yourself. No matter what you choose, always make sure you have a plan B for pour weather. We do live in Ireland after all!

Questions & Answers Q:What are the benefits of having hair trials and when is a good time to have them?

A: I would always highly recommend a pre wedding hair trial to every bride-to-be. It is a fantastic way also to meet and familiarise yourself with your wedding stylist before the all-important day. Above all, it will allow you to be at ease and have peace of mind, ensuring no unnecessary worrying and knowing you both have a plan ahead of the big day. As a rule of thumb trials should be done once your bridal gown is chosen and not before. This is to ensure you are getting the right look to suit the style of your gown and you. Q: What are the benefits of having make-up trials and when is a good time to have them?

A: A make-up trial is so important and if in doubt, have more than one. It’s a great way to get to know your supplier and for them to get a full understanding of your vision for your bridal make-up. 3-4 months prior to the wedding is a good time, when you’ve decided on bridesmaid dresses, flowers etc. When looking for inspiration, look for real life brides and images that are not photoshopped. Look for women with similar skin tones, colouring & eye shape to you. Wear a white top to your trial so you get a better idea of what the make-up will look like against your dress. After, take pictures of your make-up from different angles and in different lighting. Ask your make-up artist what they recommend you buy for top ups for the day. Seek your bridal parties’ opinion after your make-up trial but trust your own judgement and the recommendations from the professional!
Q: What do you see as being the biggest bridal make-up trends for 2020?

A: Brides are opting for make-up that enhances rather than conceals their natural beauty for their big day. Beautiful glowing and hydrated skin is always on trend. We can finally say goodbye to the heavy contouring and Instagram brows of the past and say hello to dewy healthy looking skin. Expect everything to soften and be paired back almost creating a delicate look Keep your make up youthful with a touch of pink high on the apples of the cheeks 2020 brows will be full and fluffy the soft yet powerful brow is sure to make a statement for any bride. Balmy subtle lips will take the place of the matte and overlined.

Q: In your experience, what flavour cakes and fillings are most popular at the moment? A: I find that rather than going for what’s ‘on trend’ at any given time, brides and grooms-to-be choose their flavour and design for more personal reasons. Family or childhood favourites, crowd-pleasing flavours and the theme of the wedding are all factors that play a large part in the end result. In my experience, the most popular cake varieties tend to be lemon drizzle, vanilla sponge with strawberries and cream, chocolate fudge and chocolate biscuit cake; the latter being a frequent winner with grooms! Other crowd pleasers include red velvet, white chocolate and raspberry sponge and an oldie but a goodie, classic chocolate cake.”

A: Because every bride has a particular favourite colour to express themselves throughout their wedding day, most choose a variety that compliments the day Pink tones - Always a favourite, but it’s not just pink. Its dusky shades, romantic rose, and the all time favourite blush. Winter weddings are also seeing the inclusion of sharp burgundy with the softer hues. Your cake is definitely an expression of taste and trends tend to match bridesmaids and floral choices. Blue tones - Often when couples choose venues closer to the water, they opt for seaside blues and navy. Very classy. Teal is also trending for 2021 Soft greys are also a winner, with lilac tones going for a more vintage or rustic woodland look throughout.

Q: What are the most popular ice cream flavours and are ice cream carts popular all year round or just in the summer months? A: We have many flavours of our gourmet ice-cream and sorbet to choose from, but certain ones are always guaranteed favourites. Cookies & Cream, Strawberry, Honeycomb and Mint Chocolate would be chosen most often, French vanilla is always a good idea as it’s a safe choice. My personal favourite is Irish Cream Liqueur or Raspberry Sorbet. The ice-cream is popular all times of the year, in fact December is our busiest month and we do everything with a winter theme. Our carts can be set up indoors or outdoors, so the weather is never an issue.

Q: How much time does it take to design a typical wedding cake? A: That really depends on the final design, anything with handmade flowers matching the bridal bouquet takes the longest so it can vary a lot but you can spend up to 15 hours on a cake from the baking to layering to ganache to icing and the final decorations.

Questions & Answers Q: What advice would you give to brides-to-be when going shopping for the first time for their wedding dress?

A: The most important thing to do is to keep an open mind. It is no harm to gather a few ideas but realistically, until you try, you won’t know what will suit. A wedding dress is so different to anything else you have previously worn, but it should still reflect your personal style, so aim to find a dress that shows off your best assets and makes you feel amazing. We advise to keep your wedding crew to a minimum, as too many opinions can make it confusing and often stressful. In practical terms, we advise wearing nude underwear and comfortable clothes you can easily get in and out of. We do advise shopping for your dress 12 months prior to the wedding where possible and schedule your appointment within plenty time, especially if you are looking for a weekend. Finally, like when you found your fiancé, when you do find “the one”, don’t be afraid to commit.

A: 1. Book your alteration fitting as soon as you purchase your dress. 2. First fitting will take place 5 weeks before your big day. 3. Final fitting will take place 1-2 weeks before your big day. 4. Ensure you have the shoes and undergarments for the fittings. 5. Ask the bridal shop to order extra fabric if required. 6. Discuss changes at the 1st fitting i.e. neckline, sleeves, train length e.t.c. 7. Don’t be shy and state clearly if you are not happy. Bring a friend to speak for you if needed. 8. Request a quote at the first fitting.

Questions & Answers Q: What have you noticed as being the most recent trends in wedding stationery? A: Botanical and floral designs are extremely popular right now with couples. A lot of my clients want a bespoke finish and to put their own personal stamp on their wedding stationery using colours from their wedding palette such as flowers, their bridesmaid colours and are including their wedding venues on their Invitations. A current trend this year is vellum card and also foil finishing with beautiful metallic accents giving a luxurious and sophisticated effect to wedding stationery and that little bit extra for wedding guests receiving their wedding Invitations.

Q: How many songs/pieces of music approximately do couples need to choose for a church ceremony and at what points of the mass is music generally played? A: Here’s a layout of the standard Catholic Wedding Ceremony. Church of Ireland wedding ceremonies do not vary much from this but there can be one or two changes. The total number of songs is 12 to 14. • •

This can sometimes run to 2 songs. Recessional..Final Song: (This is usually a good upbeat happy song as you both walk down the aisle as a newly married couple!)
Q: What are the benefits of having music at the drinks reception? A: Reception music provides a fantastic opportunity to further personalise your wedding day and set the tone for your evening. This will be the first form of entertainment your guests will hear following the ceremony and it provides a great opportunity for couples to individualise their drinks reception and make it personal to them. If possible, it is great to include a variety of musical styles and genres, so each wedding guest may hear a piece they love.
