About this Book This book is the result of a project I decided to do as part of SoFoBoMo, which stands for Solo Photo Book in a Month. The idea behind SoFoBoMo is to give photographers an incentive to create a photo book in just 31 days, start to finish. Since I’m one of the many who have thought of making photo books, but never did, I decided to participate. There’s nothing like a deadline to get something done! I then had to find a subject for my book, wanting to make it something different so that I could learn from the experience. When I thought of taking pictures of my dancers, I knew it was the perfect subject. I’ve taught clogging for over 30 years and many of my dancers have been with me a very long time. They’re all special people to me and I wanted to honor them in this book. I hope I’ve presented them in the positive light that I aimed for.

This book includes most of those dancers who came to my clogging classes between May 11 and June 10, 2009. The dancers in these pictures are cloggers with one of my groups: the Diablo Mountain Cloggers in Walnut Creek, the Blossom Hill Cloggers in San Jose, and Clogging Express in San Leandro.

Acknowledgments & Thank You

This wouldn’t have been possible without the help and cooperation from all my dancers, the people you see in this book. I’ve learned so much over these 31 days, about photography, making portraits, people, and especially, myself.
A huge debt of gratitude goes to the following cloggers for not only cooperating and putting up with having a camera in their faces for a month, but for being wonderful people. I am honored to count you all as friends.
An extra thank you to Doug Chin, for loaning me his Canon 20D to finish the project after my camera died 13 days into it.
