About this book This book is the result of me committing to a project called SoFoBoMo, which is short for Solo Photo Book in a Month. The idea is for photographers to create a photo book in just one month. It’s a way to make a push to get a project done. I made a book last year and had a lot of fun with it. My eyes are often grabbed by patterns that I see, especially involving lines. I’ll often photograph these things without knowing what I’ll do with the pictures later. When it came time to decide on a topic for this year’s project, I finally settled on this one. I’d already been shooting photographs of lines and patterns that I’d been seeing, so some pictures were taken before my decision to use them and others were taken with the thought of including them here. Many of these pictures were taken on one of my many lunchtime walks at work. I work in an industrial area so it’s not always pretty, but I can still find interesting things to shoot. Some of my favorites were taken at the Kentucky Exposition Center where we were for a few days in June for a square dance convention. The buildings offered many wonderful views of lines, patterns, and shadows. I had fun recording them. As I was sorting through the pictures to decide which to use and what order to put them in, I realized that certain photographs emphasized verticle lines, and others horizontal lines.
