Mosney Mill reveals a new range of homestyle products set to debut at Home & Gift
Home at Heart
Come and see this exciting new range of products from Mosney Mill at Home & Gift in Harrogate on stand DP1B90
Nestled in a corner of rural Lancashire, artist and illustrator Emma Sutton - inspired by the animals, flowers and fauna around her - founded Mosney Mill five years ago. Since then, the company has grown and has a proven footing in the textile, ceramic, gift and stationery markets.
Reflecting on her five years developing the firm, Emma has been overwhelmed by the way in which independent retailers, farm shops and garden centres have responded to the Mosney Mill range.
She says: “My aim has always been to produce high quality products for the home and giftware market while supporting British manufacturing wherever possible. Working closely with my manufacturers has enabled me to develop excellent relationships and to get products tailored to my exact design specifications.”
She continues: “Seven years ago, my family and I moved onto an old overgrown market garden. The land was teeming with wildlife, and this led to my drawings that resulted in Mosney Mill being founded. An archaeological survey of the site revealed that it had formerly been a printworks. Mosney Printworks was where the first calico printing press able to print six colours simultaneously was invented and used. A new chapter
“From that point, I looked for a way I could bring a new chapter to Mosney. We are really proud of the heritage of Mosney and, using my illustrations of the wildlife we are lucky enough to see each day in the grounds, we developed a range of kitchen textiles. These have become a staple of the Mosney Mill
range and are printed and manufactured in the UK using organic cotton and vegan dyes.
“Today I still draw from my studio overlooking the fields where two centuries ago yards of calico were dried on the land. I can also view our wildflower meadow and chicken coop where I can observe the changing seasons and all that they bring with them.”
Homestyle
Always ready to listen to the views of her customers, Emma will be launching a new range of homestyle products at Home & Gift on Stand DP1B90.
“Speaking to customers and getting their feedback is incredibly important to me and the development of Mosney Mill,” she explains. “Retailers are hugely complimentary about our high-quality textile and ceramic range and started to ask for homestyle products that would work alongside these.
“Using the proven manufacturing skills of The Giggle Gift Company based in Yorkshire, we will be showcasing a range of wooden chalkboards and clocks that incorporate my distinctive wildlife illustrations and are practical whilst working well in many home interiors.
Alongside these we have also developed a range of 15cm hanging wooden plaques with illustrations and complimentary sayings, which I feel will be a sure-fire winner with retailers and customers alike.”
Introduced over two years ago, Mosney Mill’s UK-manufactured melamine range has also increased with new shapes and designs introduced to its ever-popular coaster and memo board range, which now includes mini chopping boards and glass protectors in many of Emma’s favourite designs.
Mosney Mill’s Wildflower Seed cards continue to be in high demand. When planted the Wildflower seed card produces a bunch of wildflowers – thereby providing a card and a gift to the recipient. Four new designs now join the existing range of 22 cards and retailers can choose from a beautifully illustrated countertop point-of-sale or a top-up offer which includes additional cards and free posting. Green credentials
Care for the environment has always been at the heart of Mosney Mill. Emma and her family have created a haven for the wildlife that call Mosney their home, with meadows and ponds providing safe nesting areas for ducks, geese and pheasants.
The offices and stockrooms utilise solar electricity for lighting and ground source energy for heating. The wildflower seed cards are protected by a biodegradable compostable outer and Mosney’s dedicated packing team make sure every order is packed with care and attention using paper and cardboard that is FSC accredited.
