The Tale of Ballard and Hill

Art-inspired home finery

New home décor brand The Tale of Ballard and Hill offers a range of discerning British designs for the beautifully bold

Are you sitting comfortably? Then we’ll begin... You are warmly invited to join us as we turn over the page of the first of many exciting chapters of The Tale of Ballard and Hill… the principal characters being the creative founders of this intriguing new brand in fine British home décor.

If ‘home is where the heart is’ then this must surely be the prologue for the duo. United in a symmetry of life-changing events, and a longstanding friendship with a shared passion for design and textiles, led to the unleashing of the creative minds rewriting the home decoration rule book - and so The Tale of Ballard and Hill was inspired.

The founders and imaginations behind this distinctive brand - Susan Ballard Leigh and Natalie Johnson Hill - aim to create theatrical but commercial ranges which ooze an unexpected flamboyance of colour, tacticity and refinement, further enhanced with an exceptional level of excellence and attention to detail in all areas.

The inspiration of each range has been an original piece of Susan’s artwork. An established acrylic artist, her distinctive, contemporary handwriting is instantly recognisable. Alongside Natalie’s more commercial textile background, they both excel with a keen eye for detail and colour managing - and an undeniable ability to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary.

‘Nature with a twist’

The artistic handwriting of the ranges is very unique but also very commercial. The playful interpretation of ‘nature with a twist’ is endearing but also very original. The designs have been created to flow organically with continuity in mind, and each sits comfortably beside the other, regardless of colour, scale or structure.

Popular ranges include the lovable Quirky Animals, and the simply stunning Oceaniq. Each design is distinctly different with a kaleidoscopic colour palette that you simply cannot ignore. These are designs with the ‘aww’ factor!

The Sunflower range is the first to be released under the Flora range. It’s summer personified! Bright, joyful, and ever so slightly unconventional, it’s exactly what you would expect of this brand.

All the products within the ranges are

designed in Britain and manufactured in UK factories, which is highly advantageous to both the UK home interiors sector and the export market. The brand has already experienced some export success in a bespoke capacity and would relish the chance to develop this area further both at home and abroad.

Product ranges currently feature fine bone china mugs, quality melamine tableware, and premium cotton tea towels. Using outstanding UK suppliers, lead-times are impressively short, averaging four to six weeks from artwork completion to product delivery.

The company is flexible, not only for reactive repeat ordering but also for new design development and trials of both Ballard and Hill branded ranges and bespoke commissions. Collaborative projects with independents, offering exclusivity, is a direction which has become increasingly key - and is a direction that it is very keen to expand.

Highly anticipated new developments are soon to be announced, and you can be sure they won’t disappoint. Design originality, highest quality and a wow factor are guaranteed!

Susan and Natalie are delighted to be exhibiting at Home & Gift on Stand DP5-B12 and look forward to meeting you. The friends pride themselves on creating products and unique designs full of charm and creativity, alongside an all-important touch of humour.

Exquisitely detailed, exceptional quality and an unparalleled individuality… for people and places with bold imaginations!
