meet our cover winner and Amadeus Studios is a small photography business that was started by my husband and I in November of 2010. Over the last year he has held a full time job to support our ÂŤphotography habitÂť while I've spent some long hours researching and working to build our business. We live in Alberta, Canada, but since I am from Norway, we travel back and forth regularly and spend s several months a year over there! So blessed! As you can see from our website, we simply LOVE to capture family moments. Usually when we look back in time, we do not remember days; we remember moments! Our precious memories are a way of holding onto the things we love, the things we are and the things we never want to lose. Our passion and dedication is to capture familes interacting, living and loving each other like they do every day. We love relaxed, nontraditional captures of families just enjoying each others company and we firmly believe that portraits reflecting the spirit of your family will be the most treasured. We want our families to look at their photographs, many years from now, and have their hearts be flooded with some precious memories of days gone by and the special people that helped make those moments so precious and memorable! One of the first question we ask our families is; -what does your perfect family day look like? The answer we get from them, gives us lots of fun stuff to work with in our planning and preparation for their custom photo shoot. Although you will see a handful of posed pictures, our joy is in capturing moments of families living their lives as we carry our cameras as observers! One of my favourite quotes: It's one thing to make a picture of what a person looks like, it's another thing to make a portrait of who they are. - Paul Caponigro. ( Karina Lange)

This was my third shoot with beautiful, lil' Isabella. During our first shoot around her 2nd birthday she was so, so shy. By the time the second session came a year later she had opened up but a bit on the shy side still. I knew I wanted to do something special for her 4th birthday and surprised her with a magical afternoon scenario; antique iron bed, layers of cozy blankets, birds, butterflies and books. I was thrilled to see how open and so full of life she was and how lost she became in the

sixteen.

My passion for photography was peaked at an early age. I shot film on my mother's 35mm camera from the time I was 10 years old. After college I worked for a New York based photographer who taught me how to develop and print my own film. It was a moment I will never forget as my first print came through, my heart leaped and I literally had to catch my breath, I knew that photography had to be part of my life. Never did I imagine that after years of producing photo shoots in advertising and working for one of the top commercial photographers in the country that I would have my own successful photography business. In 2007, after revamping my website, creating the business name "Bellini Portraits" and purchasing my first DSLR I was on my way! It has been an incredible journey and I couldn't be happier! My heart is full!! I live south of Boston with my husband and two beautiful boys (and cockapoo, too!).

INTERVIEW. Danielle Mineart is the talented stylist behind Simple Marie Styling and we were lucky enough to get an interview with her just for our readers. Below you can find Danielle's answers to the questions that Lemonade and Lenses readers sent in last month. If you are a engagement or senior photographer this is one interview you don’t want to miss. And just so you know the beautiful session whos feature starts on the next page was styled by Danielle! WEBSITE: WWW.SIMPLEMARIE.COM FACEBOOK: HTTPS://WWW.FACEBOOK.COM/SIMPLEMARIESTYLING EMAIL: DANIELLE@SIMPLEMARIE.COM

1. WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF WORKING WITH A STYLIST FOR A SENIOR OR AN ENGAGEMENT SHOOT? Working with a stylist can benefit both the client and the photographer. For the client a stylist is your go to person for all questions regarding concepts, wardrobe, props, outfit changes, location, hair and make-up. As a stylist I also spend a great deal of time looking for inspiration to create new and innovative ideas to present to my clients. Without the help of a stylist the photographer must wear all these hats. When a photographer hires a stylist it allows them to focus on what they are most passionate about, photography. It also allows two people to focus on separate aspects of the shoot, ultimately creating something complete.

2. WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE MAJOR BRANDS OR ONLINE STORES TO SHOP AT TO FOR GREAT CLOTHING AND ACCESSORIES FOR SENIORS AND FOR ADULTS (ENGAGEMENTS)?

I'm a big Target fan! I can go to Target and pull a number of adorable, fashion forward outfits for seniors, without breaking the bank for my clients. As far as online retailers for seniors, Forever 21 is great for accessories. Mod Cloth, Ruche and Free People are all great for clothes. For engagement shoots I look to Anthropologie, JCrew, and Nordstroms.

3.HOW DO YOU STYLE A SHOOT WITHOUT THE SHOOT FEELING UNNECESSARILY CONTRIVED, UPHOLDING THE INTEGRITY OF WHO THE PERSON IS, REFLECTING THEIR TRUE PERSONALITY? Wow, good question. Get to know the client as best you can before exploring any concept options. From there, think of ways to highlight their personality through the shoot. For example: Say, they love the beach. Dig deeper. What do they love about the beach? Surfing? Sun? Sundresses? Sand? Relaxing? Books on the beach? Make the shoot as personal as you possibly can and always all about them! If there's a concept you're dying to try, make sure you ask them what they think of it, and don't try to push it onto your client. You want their shoot to be comfortable and to tell a story about their life.

4. WHAT IS THE MOST VERSATILE PROP?

Fresh flowers.

5. HOW WOULD YOU GO ABOUT STYLING A SESSION FOR A PHOTOGRAPHERS CLIENT? DO YOU CONTACT AND WORK WITH THE CLIENT OR DO YOU WORK WITH THE PHOTOGRAPHER? If a photographer hires me to work with a client I work directly with thw client. That's not to say the photographer isn't involved. I like to communicate with the photographer throughout the styling process, especially when it comes to locations. Photographers usually have specific locations they like to shoot in for light and atmosphere.

6. I HAVE A HARD TIME RECOMMENDING TO MY SENIORS WHAT TO WEAR WHEN I AM ASKED. HOW SHOULD I GO ABOUT ANSWERING THIS QUESTIONS OR HELPING THEM DECIDE? Hire a stylist! ;) Many of my clients' best looks have started with clothing from their closet. It's always a good place to start and will ensure that the senior feels comfortable and able to be themselves in the shoot.

THANK YOU SO MUCH DANIELLE FOR TAKING THE TIME TO BE FEATURED IN OUR MAGAZINE!! WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING ALL THE AMAZING THINGS YOU WILL DO THIS YEAR. twenty eight.

Lindsay Dewald is one of those girls who can do it all. Not only does she work at the cutest kids clothing store in town, The Spotted Goose, but she runs a personal blog, Little One Love, is involved in the 513 City Flea and owner/stylist for Lindsay Dewald Styling! We were so excited when Lindsay said yes to letting us interview her for our February issue. Below you can find the questions our Lemonade and Lenses readers sent in answered in full!! 1. WHAT IS THE MOST VERSATILE PROP? A hat or scarf. Kids love accessories and not only do they look adorable worn the "proper" way (if there is such a thing) but they can be held, played with, tossed in the air, etc. I make sure i've got at least one hat or scarf with me for every shoot.

2. WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF WORKING WITH A STYLIST FOR A CHILDS SHOOT? Often times, parents are unaware of how much fun children's fashion can be. Blue for boys, pink for girls may have been the way people did things long ago but color blocking, mixing dressy with casual, layering and just playing with various looks will add so much oooompf to your childrens images. 3. WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE MAJOR BRANDS OR ONLINE STORES TO SHOP AT TO FOR GREAT CLOTHING AND ACCESSORIES FOR A CHILD? Eeek! I have so many favorite brands. I love Little Joules, Appaman, Tea, Tom and Drew, Nico Nico, Atsuyo Et Akiko, Pale Cloud, Woven Play, and Thief and Bandit for kids. Crewcuts by J. Crew and Zara kids also have some insane collections, just to name a few :)

4. SOME CHILDREN ARE PICKY ABOUT WHAT THEY WEAR. HAVE YOU RUN INTO THIS PROBLEM OR IF YOU STYLED A SESSION AND THE CHILD DIDN?T WANT TO WEAR WHAT YOU PUT TOGETHER HOW WOULD YOU HANDLE THAT? You have to expect that going into a shoot. I adore working with kids so before I even have them put on whatever look it is they'll be wearing, I like to talk for a few minutes about any and everything. What they did in school, favorite book, games etc. Making them feel comfortable and confident in their own skin is the most important thing. Once the styled pieces are on we just have fun! Sometimes I'll ask, "how would you like to wear that" - making them feel like they are part of the process is important and if they have say in making some decisions they tend to feel pretty dang special.

5. HOW WOULD YOU GO ABOUT STYLING A SESSION FOR A PHOTOGRAPHERS CLIENT? DO YOU CONTACT AND WORK WITH THE CLIENT OR DO YOU WORK WITH THE PHOTOGRAPHER? I would first get in contact with the photographer to talk about location of the shoot and to give them an idea of what I'll be going for. I like to work closely with photographers so we are both on the same page the day of shoot and don't feel like we're stepping on one another toes. I'll be there to jump in and fix a pant cuff, hat tilt or bow of a tie. Most often times, photographers reach out to me when they want their images to have the extra special detail.

6. I HAVE A HARD TIME RECOMMENDING TO MY CLIENTS WHAT TO DRESS THEIR KIDS IN WHEN I AM ASKED. HOW SHOULD I GO ABOUT ANSWERING THIS QUESTIONS OR HELPING THEM DECIDE? Start by asking them what type of photo's they want. Do they want something to capture their every day lives or something more creative and out of the box? Take into consideration where your shooting- outdoors, indoors, rustic, urban, etc. Do you want contrasting looks or clothing that will fit in seamlessly with the environment? You could also suggest colors that work well together- Most mamma's don't put their kids in purple and yellow, but they look really good together! Or use neon for boys which again looks so stinkin' adorable! For a fun family shoot, I like to get an idea of what vibe the family is going for and go from there. Making sure mamma's and papa's are happy with the outcome is the most important thing. I'll never over style if I know a family wants a casual, natural, everyday feel. Other times, I'm styling for commercial purposes and have to lean more towards where the client wants to go and be dramatic with the styling.

THANK YOU LINDSAY FOR TAKING THE TIME TO ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS AND ALLOWING US TO SHARE THEM WITH OUR READERS!! sixty.

I am a wife, a mother, a daughter, and a lover of beauty. I live in Eastern Washington with with my husband and beautiful daughters who mean the world to me. Like so many other women, my story starts with the birth of my first baby. This new little tiny creation was so perfect, pure, and innocent. I knew I had to do everything in my power to capture her every moment, in perfect clarity. I didn’t want to forget a minute of her life. I have always been a lover of beautiful imagery, but when I picked up a camera and realized I could capture the beauty that I saw in the world and make it my own, I was hooked! After a couple years of honing my camera and editing skills I opened up for business in 2009 and haven’t looked back. Capturing beauty for other people, the way I see it, is more than a job for me. Its more than the money, its more than the title, its my way of giving back to people. There is something so incredible about seeing a client’s face light up when they see themselves in my images. I love sharing this gift with others.

When this single mother contacted me about doing a photo session for her and her 4 year old son, she explained to me how important it was to her to document the relationship her and her son share. She wanted candid, unposed images of her and her son. I knew we were the perfect match! During our shoot we let Stone, the 4 year old, take the lead! We tromped through sticks, dirt, warred off dragons in the field, and mom just let him to do his thing joining in on the adventure. The results: images that embody the relationship that this mother and son possess. It is such an honor and privilege when a client lets me observe and document their story/relationship just as I see it through my lens.

This shoot is close to my heart. It was inspired by my life. The shoot itself is part of 3 part organic series that I shot. I was fumbling with direction and photography and needed to shoot something that I could insert myself into 100%. I sketched, conceptualized the details, and drove everyone who helped me with it absolutely insane. It was the best thing I ever did. I couldn’t be more happy with the way it tuned out or the people that helped me to bring it to life!

JUST.LOVELY.THINGS REVIEW

100.

It's the little things that make our images come alive, make a statement or add whimsey. Sometimes it's that tiny pop of colour in the background, sometimes it's the accessories you add to your session. I specialize in styled children's portraiture so those little details are a huge part of how I shoot and the look that I'm after. I was lucky enough to give three headbands from just lovely things a try on a recent session. I have to say as soon as I saw them I was excited. The colours, the textures, the little button details were all so pretty. They were easy to coordinate with and gave just that little something extra to the session without taking attention away from Mia…which would be almost impossible to do anyway! Even if this was not a styled shoot, these would be super cute and so easy to bring along and add to any little girl's session. The hard part would be choosing from the hundreds of styles offered! Love them all! - Gina Weathersby (Kiwi Street Studios) 102.

As a newborn photographer, I'm always trying to stay aware of trends in the field--and that includes props such as headbands, etc. I tend to want my images to be simple, clean, and classic, and that means paying close attention to how and when I even decide to use a hat or a headband. I want my images to stand the test of time, so I mostly just feature the babe in his/her own little glory without a prop. But, it's true, Just Lovely Things does offer soft, sweet little headbands for newborns. Most are modern with a vintage twist, and it's good to note that they're sized perfectly for both small and large newborns. Love that.

I love simplicity and texture. I feel like these are the two main elements that create an amazing accessory. Being a photographer who specializes in woking with senior girls I love finding classic pieces that will help pull a look together but at the same time not take too much away from my client. I also look for accessories that will not only coordinate with any one of my seniors style but that also work along side my photographic style. Just lovely things completely takes all these ideas and uses them to create a one stop shop filled with literally anything a photographer could need to really pull the styling of a shoot together!! Whether you’re looking for creamy vintage textures or bight vivid colors you will find something that matches you and your clients style in her store. I think the images of her products speak for themselves but just in case you need to visit her on-line store. Just make sure you have time put aside because you wont be able to leave. - Lexi Vornberg (Lexi Vornberg Photography) facebook | website | shop

I'm a self-taught, natural light, boutique-style photographer specializing in senior portraiture. Ever since I was a little girl, I have always had an eye for beautiful things and love expressing myself artistically. A couple of years ago, I received a digital SLR for Christmas from my husband; and, smitten by the idea of being able to create amazingly beautiful images, I went on a quest to learn and absorb everything I could to make the idea a reality. It has been an amazingly wonderful and rewarding journey thus far. The icing on the cake--being able to share with others my penchant for finding beauty in everything and the best in everyone! My photography is basically a reflection of who I am--soft and delightful with a bit of whimsy, infused with color, crisp accents, romantic dreams and a little thing we call hope.
