courses. This variety offers a degree of flexibility in establishing your own class schedules by selecting those classes that best suit your needs and learning style. Currently, more than 4,000 students are enrolled in one of 260 courses offered online at LCC. We also offer classes for high school students through Career and College Promise. These classes help teens enhance their study habits and critical thinking skills needed to succeed in college. Tuition is free. Eligible high school students may enroll in college level academic, career, and technical education courses not otherwise available to them. These students receive college credit for classes successfully completed. Credits earned become part of their official college transcript. Lenoir Community College makes significant contributions to economic development efforts in Lenoir, Greene, and Jones Counties. We are a partner in the recruitment of business and industry, and we train and retrain employees for the job market. LCC is involved in many other community economic and workforce development activities. Our Continuing Education Program can offer one class or many to assist in local efforts to support our community business and industry.

At Lenoir Community College, we have something for everyone. We are here to help you achieve your goals, to live your dreams. I hope that you will choose to enroll in Lenoir Community College. We offer you a world of opportunities and the promise that we will assist you in any way with this important decision. For more information, please contact our admissions office or any member of our faculty and staff.

If your goal is to earn a four-year degree, our strong articulation agreement with the University of North Carolina System allows a seamless transition into all of the 16 universities in the system. Our college transfer graduates also experience a smooth and successful transition into most private colleges and universities. Upon completion of one of our many two-year programs, our graduates are equally as successful when moving directly into the workforce. Each degree, diploma, and certificate program offers a variety of classes at different times and in distance modes; we offer traditional day, evening, and weekend classes, as well as hybrid and Internet

My door is always open to you.

KINSTON CAMPUS

NATIONAL CAREER READINESS CERTIFICATE

Get your NCRC at LCC! The National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) is a portable credential that is requested and required by employers. Self-paced training is available in the NCWorks Career Center Lab at LCC and provides an opportunity for individuals to raise skill levels and confidence prior to taking the actual assessments.

Based on the data from more than 21,000 job profiles, ACT has identified three foundational skills that are essential to success in most jobs. These are the three core skill assessments that are the basis for earning the ACT WorkKeys NCRC:

• Applied Math– measures the ability to apply mathematic principles to problems

• Graphic Literacy– measures the ability to find, analyze and apply information presented

• Workplace Documents– measures the ability to understand and apply written information presented in the workplace

Want to brush-up on your skills before taking the actual test? Enroll in one of our walk-in NCRC test prep labs at a Lenoir Community College campus nearest to you. The classes are internet based, interactive, and self-paced. A fee waiver may be available for the class if you are unemployed or underemployed.

Kinston Campus Summer 2020 HRD Lab Hours: Monday–Thursday 8:00 am–4:00 pm Friday 8:00 am–12:00 pm Bullock Building, Room 125

The test fee can be waived upon completion of 30 hours of test prep (at level 4 or higher). Test prep hours MUST be completed prior to pre-registering for the actual test to qualify for the test fee waiver. Enroll in an NCRC test prep class on an LCC campus and you can continue your test prep from home if you have internet access. Pre-registration is required at least one day prior to the test date. Call the phone number listed below to pre-register.

Individuals who successfully complete the three core WorkKeys® assessments will earn a National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC), a valuable credential for students and job seekers seeking to verify foundational workplace skills. You can earn the NCRC at the Platinum, Gold, Silver, or Bronze level based on your scores on the core assessments: Applied Math, Workplace Documents, and Graphic Literacy. The test fee will be reduced to $36 (retest fee is $12 per assessment) starting August 1, 2020. The test fee can be waived upon successful completion of 30 hours of test prep. The NCRC may be earned through any Lenoir Community College campus. The summer testing schedule for all campuses is below:

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How long does it take to graduate?

Most students complete coursework within two years depending on grades and attendance.

May I enroll if I am under the age of 18? Yes. A student under the age of 18 may enroll with a minor release. The parent or legal guardian must approve the minor release. A withdrawal form from the last school attended and a sealed transcript is also required.

What does the placement test measure? The placement test is a measure of academic grade level. It is used to determine the best class placement for the student.

What is the difference between an Adult High School Diploma and HSE Diploma? Both diplomas are considered equivalent and meet the same academic standard. The AHS Diploma is given in conjunction with the local public school system. Receiving this diploma is the same as graduating from high school. A HSE Diploma is similar to the AHS Diploma and is accepted nationwide.
