Do you eat breakfast?



T H E S K I N N Y / / Collect data and information on a chosen subject. You will use your classmates/peers to collect the variables of a specified subject. The subect can be anything that can be measured statistically. You will then visually represent your research into three visual solutions. The first solution will be entirely typographic, the second image based, the third where you do not use the computer in any shape or form (kind of but not really). The subject I chose to explore was originally coffee, but then I found that breakfast was a better route for me to go. P R O J E C T B R I E F / / Right off that bat I knew that in order to have interesting statistics I needed to get my surveys to as many people that would take them. I worked really hard to collect as much information on breakfast that I could, through word lists, random questions and researching on the internet. My first survey I handed out to my classmates consisted on only two solid questions, do you eat breakfast and if so what do you eat. After getting the results of that I knew I needed to add more complicated questions. I also wanted to find a way to include those of us that did not eat breakfast, rather than just having them answer no and walk away. So, on the second round of victims I had them tell me where they got their breakfast home, whether home, school or a fast food restaurant. For those that did not eat breakfast, I had them tell me why. I also asked my peers outside of Viscom class, my parents, and even a few random people. After that I worked on a wordlist of anything and everything having to do with breakfast. From there, I explored different ways of representing my information through rough sketches of any idea that came to mind for each of the three different posters. I wanted to get to work on the computer as quickly as possible because the more time I have to revise, the better. In the end I feel like I have three very strong posters that clearly represent my subject and collected information.
