Important Jewels
As a nod to the nature of jewellery, Leonard Joel is delighted to present this finely curated collection of precious and rare, coveted and collectible jewels. Connoisseurs of design will be captivated by the creations of eras bygone, with excellent examples from the Victorian and Art Deco periods to the Modernist forms of David Webb and Andrew Grima. Collectors will be captivated by a visually compelling array of coloured
—
stones, sourced from some of the worlds most remote and exotic locations. Finally, dare to dream with our prized diamonds, destined to be adorned and adored for generations to come. Leading our line-up of extraordinary diamonds is our exceptionally rare natural cut-cornered square modified brilliant-cut diamond weighing 21.13 carats (lot 118), a remarkable natural cushion modified brilliant-cut diamond weighing 11.03 carats (lot 100) and a superb natural cushion modified brilliant-cut diamond weighing 7.01 carats (lot 88), among many other alluring selections. Collectors will discover our beautiful and extremely rare 5.29 carat Burmese ruby (lot 89). This stone was uncovered in the famous Mogok region of Burma (Myanmar). For those in the know, simply saying the word ‘Mogok’ brings to mind the intense lot 100
‘pigeon blood’ hue found only in the rubies discovered in this small and remote area. This spectacular piece is presented with both a GRS and Gubelin certificate, stating its desirable hue, its rich origin and its absence of indications of thermal treatment, a truly remarkable combination. The collection also features an array of diamond line bracelets in varying carat sizes, vibrant and bold cocktail rings encrusted with diamonds and dramatic coloured stones. We look forward to welcoming you at our viewings in Sydney and Melbourne to share in the delight of this truly remarkable collection. — Hamish Sharma | Head of Important Jewels
