I have done another merge a couple of years ago, this version is a nice upgrade. I have done some hiss reduction and speed correction, and everywhere where possible cross-fades were used instead of hard cuts. This is the oldest Queen live recording which made it to the bootleg market. Two older recordings are rumored - Ewell College 1971 and Marquee Club 1972, but it seems that Ewell College doesn't exist (the recording is actually a slowed-down version of the rock'n'roll medley coming from this concert), and the Marquee 72 recording was sold to Queen Productions (but they claim now that the don't have it), which means that this is the oldest Queen show we can get. The performance is incredible. The sound quality is absolutely excellent, the only problem is that Freddie's vocal is mixed too low, it sounds like the band is standing right before you, but Freddie sings from another room. But still it's very enjoyable. This show was bootlegged many, many times, but never in complete form. The most complete version comes from the "Digital Queen Archives" bootleg called "Queen Will Be Crowned", which misses one line from the introduction, and has a couple of small few seconds cuts. When this recording was shared on QueenZone (http://www.queenzone.com), QZ user "stark" remastered it and shared it again. This remaster was used by me in this project as "source 2". I have found out that this recording runs too fast, so I had to slow it down approx 2%. My "source 1" comes from the "Wardour" silver bootleg called "Pop Spectacular". This recording has much, much better sound quality then all other recordings, because it comes from a BBC Transcription disc. The bad thing is that it misses a big part of Son And Daughter, some speeches, See What A Fool I've Been and all songs after Liar. It had some minor hiss in the background apparent mainly during the first tracks, so I carefully removed it with Cool Edit Pro. My "source 3" was a different rebroadcast of this show, I used only one line from the intro from this source. I have used all 3 sources to create this compilation which is now for the very first time COMPLETE and every track has BEST AVAILABLE SOUND QUALITY. The editing was done in Cool Edit Pro. The final wav file was split to single tracks, which were SBE fixed and encoded to FLAC with Trader's Little Helper. TLH was

The original Radio programme was broadcast in matrixed quadraphonic sound. In Audacity, the original "Front" tracks were decoded, which featured a clearer sounding vocal. The front tracks were then merged with the original, creating a version with the vocals more audible. The tradeoff for fixing the problem, was unfortunately a thinned stereo field. For the original show in the best quality available, seek Pittrek's original share. But for listenability, this version is an acceptable compromise.

1 CD Complete with a fab sound check from Supporting Moot the Hoople bootleg! This is a merge of various copies of the audience tapes to nearly complete the show. Thanks to Kurgan for transferring his old tapes, some of which is used here. First of all, there are two different versions of the soundcheck. The complete copy is about 21 minutes long, but there is also a 15-minute version with many of the silent sections edited out - the latter of which is better quality than the complete tape. Instead of editing in a dozen spots of empty tape hiss, for completists I have decided to include both the uncut 21-minute version and a merge of two copies of the 15-minute version (one of which, from an old compilation bootleg called "The Ultimate Rarities Collection", is only 9 minutes long but is the best quality of the three). As for the concert, three different copies of the audience tape are present. All three are used to complete the section between Son And Daughter and Ogre Battle in the best possible quality, and one of the inferior copies completes the end of the show, as the best copy cuts out during Jailhouse Rock. The master audience tape is presumably missing three bits of the show, as they are missing on all three copies - a few seconds at the beginning of Procession and Keep Yourself Alive, and a small chunk of Hangman. However, by correcting the equalization I have minimized the effect and increased the peak-to-average ratio (dynamic range) by about 4dB. As the original has a ratio of about 9dB (!!), this represents a significant difference. Please note that if you are comparing this version with the original, it will sound quieter. The bulk of the equalization was done with HarBal. I then applied high- and low-pass filters with a Waves Renaissance 2-band eq and brought it back up to level (-0.2dB) with a Waves L3 limiter in Wavelab. I have re-tracked the songs, corrected the balance between left and right channels and applied new fades. Comments from pittrek : Stark's remaster was fantastic, but there were a couple of things which I didn't like. First of all, stark doesn't use denoisers, which is usually a good idea, since you can damage the sound completely if you don't know what you're-doing. However this recording had some small amount of hiss, which got pretty annoying during the silent parts, that's why I've done a very careful hiss reduction in Cool Edit Pro. There were 2 cuts in the original bootleg, so I have filled the gaps with the Wardour bootleg and an unbootleged 5th source. I have used a little cheat at the beginning and the end of the concert to make it sound better. 1 CD "Christmas Time Rock'n'Roll" pittrek COMPLETE compilation. This is a multisource compilation made with the intention to finally have a complete audio version of this excellent concert. During the years this concert was re-broadcast by both TV and radio in many countries. Therefore many audio sources have appeared, but none was complete. Many parts, like the spoken concert introduction or Freddie's Christmas speeches appear only on the original TV broadcast, I will call this source the "video mix". This video mix covers the concert from the opening by the Nashville country band Area Code 615 - a taped song called Stone Fox Chase, which was used as the Old Grey Whistle Test theme song, to the end of Queen's rock'n'roll medley. After this medley finished, the BBC crew packed their equipment, the TV broadcast ended, which is the reason why the rest of the concert does not exist on video. It is also one of the reasons why this source can't be 100% used for this compilation, the second reason is the sound quality, which is much worse then the soundboard recordings. Since this concert was also broadcast on BBC radio, this concert was recorded on soundboard. These multi-track master-tapes were later used to create 2 different soundboard mixes. The first soundboard mix, the "common mix" has great sound on the backing vocals, but the drum sound is not very good. This was the only mix used for all radio re-broadcasts, until the Swedish radio rebroadcast from 2005. This broadcast used a completely new mix, the "Swedish radio mix", which has absolutely perfect drum sound, but on the other side, the backing vocals sound very weird. Also this new mix has unfortunately some radio-added jingles during some songs. This compilation uses elements from both soundboard mixes with gaps filled with the video mix. Songs 1, 2, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22 and some other small pieces come from the video source shared on Queenzone. Its lineage should be something like : TV broadcast > VHS tape (unknown generation) > FLAC Songs 4-9 come from the common soundboard mix. The recording comes from a pre-FM CD, intended for broadcast on April 12/13, 2002 on the Westwood One radio network. It is missing Bring Back That Leroy Brown, and everything after Gods Revisited. The quality is outstanding, and surely better than any radio broadcast (of this particular mix, the common mix). This early Queen recording is top of my list; what an absolute corker! It brings back memories of seeing them at The Liverpool Empire in the UK during the same tour. Well I waited for 6 months for a speed-fixed version of Volume 3 to turn up, unfortunately in vain, so I finally decided to do it myself. This is the result. It turned out so nice that I thought I would share it with you nice folks at Dime (notice I said 'nice' LOL). Now I know I risk life & limb by posting my own remaster of such a highly praised recording on Dime (with ~2400 downloads since June 2009!!), but in my defence the originators, Kev & Carl, did say we should feel free to have a go. The original recording was in excellent shape but IMHO did need some attention to fix a few issues, mainly: - Wrong speed/pitch (I determined that the original plays +51 cents sharp) - some rough edits due to cassette swap & stop - slightly excessive tape hiss - insufficient bass response (IMO) The basic details of the mastering applied to the original 24bit/96Khz version from djscomics seed on Dime (using Wavelab6) are as follows: A: edit/fill/crossfade cassette swap & stop points (to disguise the abrupt/rough edits) B: Fix mono portion of Track 1 'Bohemian Rhapsody (Opera)' C: Time stretch by 103.1% (equals -51 cent pitch change) D: Slight de-hiss E: EQ / Multiband Compression / Limiting (-0.2dB max) / Dithering to 16bit (bass boost & tighten up the sound) F: WAVs edited to fit on to 2xCDRs (with overlap) plus fade in/out (using the same CD break point as the original) G: track split (I've added a few more track breaks as per track list above) Please note that this remaster reflects my own personal preferences with respect to listening to live shows. Remastering has been done to polish the raw master recording with the aim of enhancing the listening experience. This includes some editing of the original to disguise the cassette swap & stop points to make it seamless (i.e. prior to 'The Prophet's Song', 'Now I'm Here' & 'Hey Big Spender') as well as some tweaks to 'polish up' the overall sound. A bit hissy, but you'll have probably heard much worse. I certainly have! I read on www.queenlive.ca that the tape ran a bit slow and on checking myself I found that it did indeed need speeding up by 3%. Having done that I also re-tracked the show, giving each song its own index point and adding fades to the start and end of the discs. I also moved Freddie's intro to 'The Prophet's Song' to the start of that track, rather than the end of the previous one, since it opens disc 2. I removed about 6 minutes of between-encores clapping - I know some people don't approve of this, but the un-tampered master is still available at the address at the top of this posting. This isn't meant to be definitive, blah, blah... Oh, and I made a bit of artwork (really just some of the great photos Rober953 took at the show, which are over at www.queenlive.ca , along with tracklistings). Hope you like it!

They played Doin’ All Right and Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting. The recording has a really warm stereo sound to it. The first couple songs come from a higher generation tape, which the given lineage naturally doesn't apply to. During Brian's speech before Somebody To Love, it cross-fades into the superior version of the tape. This includes as bonus track a Radio Advertising for News Of The World album. The same source used for "Rocks New York" by Trial.

Rob also taped the 2-5-77, 12-1-77, 8-20-80, and 7-23-82 shows. The audience's reaction to the girls on their bikes is is clearly heard here. It's the most distant recording of the three sources, so the music isn't loud enough to drown out the audience at certain moments like this one.

The taper (who also recorded one of the 12-1-77 sources) once again decided to spare tape by pausing it between songs. As a result, most of the songs have a very slight cut at the beginning. The tape cuts out not long after We Are The Champions ends. There is another version of this source, also from a first gen tape, missing the first song. It seems that the azimuth had been aligned properly, perfecting the EQ and sound as a whole, but the volume was set too high by whoever transfered the tape, so it's a bit overblown and distorted.

Now I'm Here through It's Late are missing, as well as most of God Save The Queen. In this quality, it is one of the most important recordings of Queen live. This recording was received as a "first generation tape", but it is questionable (at least for the first half) since the quality improves by Fat Bottomed Girls, where it then sounds almost as good as the Montreal and Chicago audience tapes from December. Also, about 40 seconds of tape are missing on this copy, cutting out some of the banter after Brighton Rock. Audience members near the taper keep shouting out for songs like Flick Of The Wrist, Ogre Battle, and Liar. As the strippers leave the stage after Fat Bottomed Girls, someone shouts, "What are you doing after the show!?" After Keep Yourself Alive, a friend of the taper tells him, "You missed a lot, man. It's already been an hour and a half." So this at least confirms that some songs in the middle weren't taped and that there was a reason for it. As the band are leaving the stage at the end of the show, someone shouts out to Brian, referring to his guitar, "Smash it!" Pete Townshend and Ritchie Blackmore didn't make their own guitars from scratch, so this fellow wouldn't have his wish granted at a Queen concert.

Somebody dares to boo when they here that "This next song comes from "News Of The World" ? :-) A very nice gig again, like all the gigs from Ahoy, but unfortunately a pretty bad quality (again like all the gigs from Ahoy). The beginning of Spread Your Legs is musically very interesting, the same goes for all Brian's work today. Two different sources appeared during the years, the first one in only "good +" quality and usually distributed with 2 last tracks (Champions and GSTQ) from a different concert, probably from the 80's. The second source comes from a master, but still is incomplete and I would rate it as "Very Good / very good -". The "alternate master" has many strange problems. For example for some strange reason the taper though it's a good idea to tell us where it was recorded DURING WWRY fast. There are also many small cuts (all of them are a few seconds long), and a couple of "micro cuts" long only a couple of milliseconds ! The recording is full of hiss and disc 1 runs terribly fast (disc 2 runs "almost" correct). Also the length of the recording (circa 83 minutes) is strange - if he used a 90 min tape which ran too fast, where is the rest ? Or did the taper transfer his master tape not carefully enough ? Or was it simply damaged during the years ? Hard to say. Well since I consider myself a "perfectionist" (or a madman, as some would say) I thought this concert definitely needs a 2-source mix. For most of the concert. I've used the master copy, with the hiss carefully removed and restoring the original tape speed. I have also filled the gaps with the common source (including the speech during WWRY). I have kept all the cuts shorter then 1 second simply because the common source is in such a bad shape that I couldn't find the correct segments. But for now it's probably the best representation of this gig.

It doesn't sound quite as good as the RoIO above, as it has been digitally processed a great deal (its frequency analysis cuts off at only 6kHz, as opposed to mp3's usual 16kHz). Notes of the tape: This average quality recording emerged in 2007. This audience tape presents a unique perspective of Brighton Rock, as only the echo of Brian's guitar solo is heard for a couple minutes.

The venue was moved to port area (sparse zone) that time from central city (close to castle) at previous time('76). This complete show recording was made from a pair of mono cassette tape recorders. Hope you enjoy. Isshoni Utatte Kudasai! Sir GH notes: This alternate source emerged in May 2010. It is a much better recording of the show, although still a bit distant. The taper used two different recording devices to create stereo sound. He believes they were both TCM100Bs, but he stated the possibility that he may have used a TC-1100 for the right channel. Either way, they ran at different speeds and he managed to correct all but one track, It's Late, which is a somewhat jarring listen as the two channels are a quarter-tone apart in pitch. Wardour quickly bootlegged the second audience source three weeks after it emerged (The Pleasure Chest).

Sure, the radio recording is more complete, but even in its best quality, it has such a dry sound, while this audience recording has life to it. Essential listening. I have sped up the Breakdown version 1/3 of a semitone, and brought the volume down 30%."

Taper notes: â&#x20AC;&#x153;I did a couple of analogue trades back in the day and somehow the recording got into the hands of some bootleggers who manufactured a 3LP set named DYNASTY from it. So this is the master for DYNASTY - first transfer to digital from the original master cassettes. Includes "Is This The World We Created?" and "Love Of My Life" which were omitted from the 3LP set (maybe the bootleggers left them out because both tracks are incomplete on the master).â&#x20AC;? The taper used a first gen tape of an alternate audience source to fill in the gaps in those two songs. It is technically a third source, as it is not the video source. The main source on its own is 110 minutes long. The majority of this bootleg comes from an excellent source, which is probably even pre-FM. It has unfortunately a lot of background hiss, but it gets mostly noticeable during the silent parts. Also some songs (like Tie Your Mother Down) play in an incorrect speed and others are distorted. There were many cuts in this fantastic recording, so the guys at "Gypsy Eye" filled the gaps from a much worse quality recording. However until spring 2008 this bootleg was the best existing version of this concert. In March 2008 a new source appeared, which is a digital copy of a 1st gen copy of a direct FM broadcast. This copy is complete, but much worse quality then the better part of DUPIG, but still much better then the worse part of DUPIG. So a logical next step was to take the better part of the DUPIG audio, remove the hiss, correct the speed where necessary and fill the gaps with the FM source. The result was encoded to FLAC with Traders Little Helper removing all SBEs. The flac files were tagged with Winamp.

Wardour's version is apparently a transfer of the audience master (from someone known as "Crazy S"), making it a great upgrade from the multi-gen Electric Magic version. Although it's a distant recording as described above, the master copy has a very clear and punchy sound. The recording begins with the tail end of the house music, Run To You by Bryan Adams. Wardour has filled in the few gaps with the video source.

2 CD It was recorded on a Sony Minidisc recorder (MZ N710) in LP mode using a Sony ECM 719 microphone. It was captured via analogue input and burnt to 90 minute CDs (Just fitted!) There may have been a bit of EQ'ing to add some midrange/treble and remove a bit of bass. It was recorded from about 7 meters away from the end of the B stage near the center of the floor. The Red Special had to be handed off for a check-up. Paul and Roger kept looking at him and asking him if he was ok. Brian probably twinged his back, he pointed to it a couple times. So there's not very much I can do about it. They are very short, so most people probably won't notice them. The longest one is during God Save the Queen. And a few times you can hear some coughing.

Comment: I was standing roughly 10m right/back from the catwalk and despite my 189 cm I could hardly see the stage - the Dutch guys are so tall! :-) I didn't expect any miracles but this turned out to be probably my best recording so far. These mics from Sound Professionals are an excellent choice for the money ($200-$300) and the Edirol recorder is amazing. The sound is very clear, only the hand clapping is a bit too loud.

Comment: I was standing right from the catwalk (first row) and unfortunately, only two minutes before the show I realized my SP-CMC-8 mics weren't working. I tried to restart the recorder and also switch my battery module off and use mic-in instead of line-in but didn't succeed either; something was wrong with the mics. So with only seconds left before the start of the show I had only one choice left - use the internal microphones of the Edirol R-09 HR recorder (and there was no time for adjusting the settings), stick it into my bag and hope that *something* will be recorded. Considering how stressful the conditions were, I was surprised the result was actually very good - almost VG+ if it wasn't for quite a lot of audience noise (and btw. that's NOT me singing :-).

Since the original "taper", pavlov, for some reason I don't know, recorded this from the radio broadcast with fade in's & out's, plus, his original WAV files are also fade in/out-ed, I've decided to try to improve this soundboard recording editing and smoothing out all those annoying fades, and I think it sounds pretty good! Besides all that editing, I also replaced We Are The Champions + God Save The Queen with the audio from the DVD taken from the (TV station) master tape. As you can read further on, the broadcast had several problems during this two songs and they replaced most of WATC with Radio Ga Ga a as "musical curtain" and also cut GSTQ. I've also removed those annoying comments at the beginning of the show and added a fade in. Some of you might think "oh, he replaced two songs in lossless quality with a lossy source from a DVD-5..." Well, that's not certainly accurate: the original radio broadcast it's LOSSY, and don't get me wrong, I'm not slighting pavlov's work, not at all, he just recorded what the radio station gave him. So, pavlov's recording it's lossless from a lossy radio transmission ;-) In fact, I'm thinking to rip all of the DVD audio, edit all the several skips present on it and encode to FLAC; frankly, I find the audio from that DVD more enjoyable than the radio broadcast. And remember that both sources are lossy. On the near future, I plan to completely re-author the DVD (audio and video, if possible), cut out that HORRENDOUS picture slide in the middle of the show, create a new menu, etc. etc. So lineage for this current version of the show should go like this: * Source 1 (most of the show): Radio Broadcast > Philips FM Radio > LINE IN Soundblaster Audigy @ X-FI > Audiograbber (WAV) > FLAC Frontend level 8 > FLAC files merged and decoded using GoldWave > editing process also with GoldWave > encode using Trader's Little Helper (aligned on sector boundaries) > FLAC level 8 ** Source 2: Queen + Paul Rodgers: We Got Santiago Rockin' DVD-5 from the TV station master > DVD Audio Extractor > Lossy ACM

What I'm sharing now started as a private project, but I decide to post here because I know some people could enjoy it! is a multisource audio of the first Q+PR show in Brazil, at Via Funchal 26.11.2008. My attempt is make it the better sound and most complete possible, with the material I own. My recording (That I shared here in 2009) have a lot of flaws in some songs and the sound isn't so good, but is the most complete, so this is the main audio. I got 2 other recordings of this show, but both of them covers only the 1st half of the concert, and have some songs only. Hopefully both of them have at least a slightly better quality than mine recording. What I did is take the better parts of these alternate sources and substitute in my audio were it was possible. So in this way, almost all the flaws in cd1 were fixed. The mix of sources will be stated below. In other hand, flaws that were not possible to substitute with the other sources were fixed with youtube video extracts (aprox. 4 seconds for Another One Bites The Dust, 30 seconds for I Want It All, and 1 minute for Radio Ga Ga only) I don't have much experience with this kind of work, so please don’t kill me :) but I think the result is at least interessant. Much work was put into this TV special, as the audio jumps back and forth from the actual concert audio to Live Killers, for whatever their reasons may have been. There is also some footage of Sweet Lady from London 9-18-76 (which runs a bit slow), and some backstage footage from the News Of The World tour (perhaps from Houston). It's interesting how Tie Your Mother Down and Sheer Heart Attack have the exact same edits on The Champions as they would on the official Rare Live video release ten years later. Also, the Let Me Entertain You edit (speech and song from different nights) is identical on The Champions and The Magic Years. It makes one wonder how much (or how little) footage from these shows exists in the vaults.

Wonderful release, like watching COMPLETELY NEW stuff, from 3 different sources. Queen : Emperors of Japan (2 Cds + 1 DVD) This DVD captures first visit of Queen in Japan and the beginning of "Queenmania" in this country. The live footage captures 3 songs of their last Japan concert, taking place in Budokan, Tokyo May 1st. Video : PAL, 720x576, 25 fps, 8Mbps Audio : LPCM 2.0 48kHz Track list : The airport The press conference Picnic & Tea ceremony Messages to Japan fans Now I'm Here Killer Queen In The Lap Of The Gods ...revisited Epilogue Sources : The almost complete documentary is circulating among fans since the 70's, but common copies come from extremely high generation tapes. I have managed to find a pretty good looking copy, with a lot of details and almost correct colors. This was my main source. In the 80's the master tape was re-edited for use in the "Magic Years" documentary, but the most interesting part the live footage - was omitted almost completely. This cut was used for all other documentaries, up to "Killer Queen", which uses many parts of "Now I'm Here" which were never seen anywhere only in the old documentary. What have I done - I have taken the 3 sources, cleaned them up with various video filters, deinterlaced them and corrected their speed so now all 3 sources run at the same speed. Since the audio on the original documentary was barely listenable, I have replaced it completely. The documentary parts, which were using the studio tracks are now synchronized with the audio coming from the Japan remastered albums. The live parts come now from an audience recording which was released on the bootleg "Young Nobles Of Rock". The video cleanup was done in AviSynth, the synching and cutting in Womble MPEG Video Wizard, and the authoring in DVDLabPro.
