PASSION AND KNOWLEDGE MEET TON KENNIS AND FRANS LAMERS The story of Jiggi is the story of two professionals who are passionate about their work. Ton Kennis is the director and owner of DAKA, a company which specializes in foils and films. Frans Lamers is the director and owner of Lamers Productions, which designs and produces specialized production machines. As they do not only work together, but also strongly believe in sharing their knowledge, Ton and Frans together faced a problem that they both agreed was well worth a thought: how to create a cutting blade system that was not only safe and convenient, but also easy to produce? The question developed into a concept, the concept developed into a system. From the very beginning, it was thought through into the finest details. Both being men of perfection, Ton and Frans decided that all involved should benefit from their solution: u It should enable printers, box makers and packaging companies to add value and stand out u It should enable manufacturers to bring their products to a new level u It should give the consumer the convenience of easily and safely cutting film, foil and baking paper.

It all started well over 25 years ago. In the meantime, the system has been improved, from cutting blades to applicator, over and over again. This is what Ton en Frans call ‘revolution by evolution’, a process which never stops. And the system got a name: Jiggi. Jiggi’s innovative production method creates cutting teeth that do not leave miniscule splinters at the teeth after cutting. This makes Jiggi 100% safe for food contact, a crucial feature in the kitchen, of course. Remember the last time you cut a piece of cling film? It probably stuck to the cutting teeth, folding itself into an unusable piece of plastic. In the Jiggi system a special coating technique ensures that the material will not stick to the teeth. Promise! And what to think of cutting yourself, using cutting teeth made of metal? No more. Since Jiggi is made of paper and plastic, it is very user friendly: maximum usability, minimum chances of harm.

JiggiÂŽ - The safe cutting blade system
Jiggi is often called a good example of Dutch design. Why? Because the design is not only nice to see, but extremely functional as well.
The underlying principle is that the Jiggi blade is applied to the carton during the production process, creating a single product that is packaging and cutting tool at the same time. For your customer this means easy packaging: opening the carton, including the roll, closing the carton and ready it is. For the user this means that he can cut his material immediately after he has rolled it out of the carton, time after time: without wear, without splinters, without harm. As it is with good design: form follows function. Therefore, the Jiggi blades have 5 or 7 teeth per centimeter. And of course, tailormade teeth profiles can be made upon request. The teeth of the blades are characterized by their unique 3-dimensional shape, creating sharpness in every direction. Up or down, from right to left, from left to right: the wrapping product will be cut properly. Moreover, a special coating technique prevents the product from sticking to the teeth. That puts an end to one of the biggest kitchen annoyances! The blade and the carton make a perfect fit, because of the hotmelt technology we use during production. The length of the blade depends on your wishes only: for maximum flexibility it is changeable per 1 mm. And‌ no need for die cutting, since the blades are delivered on a roll. That pretty much sums up what we call innovation!

4 TYPES OF JIGGI BLADES QUALITY MEETS SPECIALTY
As each product and material has its own requirements, we have designed 4 kinds of Jiggi blades. They all meet the highest standards in the market and are 100% safe: both in usage and in terms of food safety. . All blades have a height of 10 mm and are delivered readymade, so no need for die cutting! JIGGI L-PAPERSTRIP速 Jiggi L-Paperstrip速 has a virgin cardboard quality with reinforced coated teeth, which makes it very durable. This type of blade has been designed for baking paper and aluminum foils. It is highly cost effective and recyclable with paper waste, making it the perfect solution for mono packaging.

comes in white (most frequently used) and as a transparent blade. This type of blade is very strong and has been designed for all kinds of plastic cling films and laminates, baking paper and aluminum foils. A real do-it-all!
JIGGI PLA-EDGE Jiggi PLA-Edge has been made from sustainable raw materials (plants), creating a genuine cradle to cradle solution. This type of blade is without
a doubt the most environmentally friendly choice in the market. It has been designed for all kinds of materials.
JIGGI PVC-EDGE Jiggi PVC-Edge is a blade and a marketing tool at the same time. It has a PVC quality and the very same properties as PET-Edge. What makes it unique, is the fact that it can be customized with all colors and imprints possible, even at low quantities. The perfect branding solution!

The success of an idea depends on its simplicity. As Ton and Frans say earlier in this brochure: “The success of an idea depends on its simplicity.” That goes for the applicator as well. This is how it works. The Jiggi blades are supplied on a role, which is automatically fed to the applicator. The cartons are stacked in the feedhopper, from which they are transported by the conveyor belts. Programming the applicator is easy with the touchscreen panel. Starting up takes 15 minutes at most. Good to know: changing from one type of carton to the other is fast and easy, as well is switching blades or changing saws. The applicator does not have to be adjusted. On the display, you can follow day production, order quantity and the total number of cartons produced. The Jiggi blades are cut at exactly the right length by the cutting unit, and can be changed by mm. After that, the blades
are applied to the cartons with hotmelt technology: at exactly the right place and exactly the right temperature. Finally, the cartons – with the Jiggi blades now attached – are transported by the conveyor belts, which neatly stack the finished product. In case the belts are full, a sensor makes the applicator stop automatically. If you change the applicator to the cooling down mode, it will automatically stop when the conveyor belts cool down below 50° C. That’s how simple adding value can be. And it takes 1 person only to control this process.

THE APPLICATOR A TECHNICAL MASTERPIECE. aThe Jiggi system is the result of well over 25 years of innovation and technology. We have designed an applicator that automatically applies the Jiggi blades to the cartons: easy to handle, by 1 person only. An innovative system that ensures top quality production.
Central electrical power supply The machine has one central electrical power supply. The engines of the Jiggi applicator work on 110, 220 and 400 Volts. Stacking up to 600 flat cartons Jiggi’s feedhopper stacks approximately 600 flat cartons, which are automatically transported to the heating stations by transport belts. Easy adjustment The applicator allows maximum flexibility in the production process. Using various types of carton or different blade lengths? Adjustment is done in seconds.

Precise application by photocell technology A special start-stop system enables the applicator to apply the flat carton to the Jiggi blade. Photocell technology ensures that this happens at exactly the right moment.
Siemens touchscreen panel A Siemens touchscreen panel allows simple programming and handling: both the operator and the maintenance people have an easy job to do. Their settings are stored separately and secured by passwords.
Length precision up to 1 mm The precision cutting unit cuts the Jiggi blades at the requested length to a precision of 1 mm.
Computerized warning system A computerized warning system indicates possible machine failures.
Temperature control by infrared units Infrared units with individual pyrometers guarantee a controlled temperature transport to the hotmelt coated Jiggi blade. This system saves energy and ensures a long lifetime of the machine.
Easy in maintenance Maintenance costs are reduced to a minimum, machine parts are easily exchangeable. As we use standard machine parts only, spare parts can be purchased anywhere in the world.
three CAPACITIES SPECIALS UPON REQUEST. There are 3 machines available, with capacities ranging from 5000 up to 12000 cartons per hour. Adjustments for running big-sized catering boxes and applicators with other specifications are available upon request. As we design and produce the applicators ourselves completely, we will have no trouble delivering these specials and meeting your expectations. As we have put over 25 years of experience, innovation and technology into our applicators, maintenance costs and downtime are reduced to a minimum. In case anything extraordinary happens to your applicator, you can be sure that we will service you fast and well. We will provide you with a tailored service agreement.
