W A L L designed in 2016's winter
In order to provide a unconstrained and interesting half-open sightseeing space to visitors, this design try to use the different kinds of methods of laying the bricks and the white concrete wall to explore how the old city wall bricks can find their new life with the "shared space" in contemporary architecture. In addition, the broken wall not only try to provide a flexible space for public to sightseeing, but also try to use this element to remain the importance of the MING DYNASTY CITY WALL, as it is gradually being forgotten. However, as we all know that, everything would be disappeared eventually, the culture which is contained in those historic stuffs should not be forget. Thus, this design is trying to find out how to bring new life to those old traditional elements.

This project's land needed is surrounded by the green plant in the XUANWU lake park, and the MING DYNASTY CITY WALL is just located in the southwest of the land needed. Thus, "HOW TO INTEGRATE THE LAND NEEDED INTO THE ENVIRONMENT, AND MAKE VISITERS CAN HAVE A FREE AND LOGICAL VIEW AND THINKING." will be the main target of the design.

To create a fluent space for visitors to enjoy the permeability of the space and the privacy as well, this project has used the different methods to lay bricks to realize those targets.
THE ANALYSIS OF the construction

To emphasize the elements of the MING DYNASTY CITY WALL, this project has used 5 different methods to lay the bricks. At the same time, to increase the interests of the space, the method of hollow has been used as well.
fluent
To break the traditional fixed viewing mode, this project has broken the wall and reverse it to create a relatively free viewing mode. However, this exhibition space also has the hidden boot to guide the visitors to their destination.

To create a half-opened space, this project has put the dead wall, hollow wall and the landscape together to increase the mobility of the space, in the proposition of protecting the privacy.

It is not hard to find, the protection of the wall is not very good and the way to lay the bricks is very plentiful. Thus this project has select some kinds of the ways to lay the bricks to remind visitors the importance and the beauty of the wall.

When choose the methods of laying the bricks, the question of "HOW TO MAKE THE WALL CAN BECOME MOBILY" has been the most important problem. Eventually, this project has chosen 6 different methods and put those methods and the white wall together to meet the different requirements of the views and landscapes. Meanwhile, when thinking about "HOW TO OPEN HOLE IN THE WALL", this project has put the body modulus of LE CORBUSIER into the way to open the hole in the wall to make visitors can feel different level of privacy. What is more, the 4 groups of walls have been designed to act in cooperation with each other, which can make viewers feel them just like a entirety.

THIS DESIGN IS TRYING TO FIND A NEW WAY TO PREASENT THE CONCEPT OF "POROUS" WHICH WAS FIRST PROPOSED BY THE FAMOUS ARCHITECT 'FRANK GEHRY'. HOWEVER, DIFFERENT FROM THE ORIGENAL CONCEPT, WE ARE TRYING TO ADD SOME NEW ELEMENTS IN TO THIS CONCEPT TO FORM OUR DESIGN, SUCH AS THE FUNCTIONAL ELEMENT OR THE DIFFERENT SIZE OF THE HOLL TO MAKE THIS CONCEPT MORE SUITABLE TO THE COMMERICAL DISIGN. MEANWHILE, WE ALSO ADD THIS ELEMENT IN TO THE OUTSIDE SKINE AND THE INDOOR HOOL TO MAKE THE INTERNAL SPACE BECOME MORE USERFRINEDLY AND MORE ATTRACTIVE TO CUSTOMERS.

CONCEPT FORMING this design is trying to find a new way to present the concept of "porous" which was first proposed by the famous architect 'frank gehry'. however, different from the original concept, we are trying to add some new elements into this concept to form our design, such as the functional element or the different size of the hole to make this concept more suitable to the commercial design. meanwhile, we also add this element into the outside skin and the indoor holet to make the internal space become more user-friendly and more attractive to customers.

Through the surveies, we found that the surrounding residential areas mainly include middle-aged, elderly people and children which are the main activity groups, and the young people mainly work in the main urban areas.
moreover, after using different methods to ensure a suitabele and interesting shopping environment for the customer, we also put more emphasize into elder generation. to create more opportunities for them to walk out to have more interaction with environment or other people, we have set many eldly-focused shops for them to use.
In addition, because of the lack of suitable for elderly and children around commercial buildings, in this design, we consider setting up more forms and business format for the elderly and children. at the same time, the leisure activity is more popular with young people in the cinema, thus it will promote the communication between the three generations.
all in all, this design is aimed to use different methods, compared with the modern commercial complex design, to find the better way to deal with the conflict between the economic requirement and user focused space. we hope this trying would bring some new living styles to the surrounding people and environment.

In order to provide interesting and comfortable waiting space for travelers and explore "HOW TO ADD MORE NATURAL AND LOCAL ELEMENTS TO DESIGN AND CREATE A NEW WAITING EXPERIENCE.", this design try to make the construction have a open & comfortable internal space by threading together it's internal space. In addition, the other interesting part of this design is it's ruffed roof, which is coming from the mountain nearby. At the same time, the riding space has also been designed interestingly, as the bus can pass though the first floor of the building, which can provide more convenient and safe way for travelers to ride the bus.

In order to make audiences, performers and exhibits have abundant connection, this design use the removeable stage which located in the middle of the land needed and the flexible visitor route to explore the variety of "SHARED SPACE". What is more, except the removeable stage in the central of the land, there is a small stage which is designed like a traditional local stage, it can be used by public from day to night without any of charge. From my point of view, the protective architecture should not only collect those historical relics, but also inspire people's interests to the culture. THE SHARED SPACE & LOCAL ELEMENTS are important parts of this design to realize this targets. Thus, this design set those stages and the flexible visitor route to provide more opportunities for visitors to get in touch with the "QUYI" culture, then the public can find the beauty of this culture.

In order to provide enough space for customers and employees to rest and communicate with each other, this design try to use the rotation of the floor to realize this "shared space". In addition, this business central area used to be full of many trees, on either side of the road, although it is pretty hard for people to find those trees in nowadays. Thus, the green plant is also used in every floor of annex and tower to ensure that, the users can enjoy the fresh air and comfortable environment. and the inside of the tower also looks like a huge, rotated tree hidden in this tower. Therefore, i call this design "THE MISSING TREE", to remain people that, NO MATTER HOW HIGHLY DEVELOPTED THE TECHNOLOGY IS, THE GREEN PLANT IS A INDISPENSABLE PART of our daily life.

In order to reduce energy consumption, the double-skin face has been used in this design, it can not only bring the fresh air into the construction, but also let the plant can have enough sunshine for photosynthesis . The annex absorb the cold air from the bottom, which would be heated in the central of the building. This loop creat a GREEN CIRCULATION SYSTEM.
