Phase 1 of the iconic Limassol Del Mar completed

British survey says Paphos one of the cheapest holiday destinations in Europe

The iconic Limassol Del Mar, the €400 mln landmark development in the coastal town, has completed the first phase, with work on Phase II expected to be finalised soon. The mixed-use project, a collabora on between developers Leptos Group and D. Zavos Group, offers unobstructed views of the sea from all apartments. The 27-storey project consists of luxury residences, 5-star facili es and services, and luxurious shops and restaurants. Despite the Covid pandemic pushing back delivery schedules by almost two years, the company said, “construc on work has con nued over the last few months despite the restric ons bought on by the pandemic, with over 85% of residences now sold and many homes ready to move into.” A series of six penthouse residences, furnished by Gianfranco Ferré Home, feature three to six bedrooms, terraces with dual aspect panoramas, gardens, and pools. Other units also furnished by Gianfranco Ferré Home are known as The Signature Collec on, and ARA Design Interna onal used the sea as its inspira on, crea ng awe-inspiring interiors for the lobby area, residents’ restaurant, spa, gym, indoor and outdoor swimming pool spaces. The surrounding Plaza Del Mar will be a vibrant shopping des na on for Limassol providing luxury bou que outlets on the ground floor, elevated pocket gardens, and a selec on of high-end restaurants and bars. Pantelis Leptos, Joint Director of Limassol Del Mar, said there is high demand for ready premium property along Limassol’s beachfront.

Paphos is the seventh cheapest holiday des na on in Europe for Bri sh travellers, according to the latest Bri sh Post Office Travel Money survey. The survey covered 16 des na ons in Europe, 13 in the Americas and Caribbean and 17 in the rest of the world. Overall, Paphos came in the 11th cheapest des na on among the 46 with a total cost of £66.74 for a basket of eight tourist items comprising dinner for two with a bo le of wine, a range of so and alcoholic drinks, sun cream and insect repellent. Coronavirus has dealt a huge blow to the world travel industry, and like many tourism-reliant economies, Cyprus’ tourism sector is struggling to cope with a significantly lower number of foreign visitors that account for most of its business. The UK is tradi onally Cyprus’ biggest tourism market, but numbers are down amid travel restric ons in place un l recently in the UK, compounded by a surge in cases here, though there are hopes of increased arrivals in autumn. For the fourth year running, Post Office Travel Money research found that holidaymakers can expect to pay less for meals, drinks and other tourist staples in many of the world’s most popular resorts and ci es.

The 15th annual Worldwide Holiday Costs Barometer found that prices have fallen in over three-quarters of the des na ons surveyed. The breakdown for Cyprus’ total of £66.74 was: dinner with wine £47.72, water £0.24, coffee £2.43, so drink and beer £2.21 each, wine £2.92, insect repellent £3.37 and sun cream £5.65. The Post Office Worldwide Holiday Costs Barometer was compiled with the help of na onal and regional tourist boards, and specialist tour operators. A poll of more than 2,000 UK adults indicated that 44 per cent of families planning to travel abroad this year will budget more to allow for rising resort costs and coronavirus tests. The tests required to enable tourists to enter their des na on and return to the UK can add several hundred pounds per person to holiday bills. “A er such a long wait, it is understandable that families want to head to European beach resorts for some summer sun,” head of Post Office Travel Money Nick Boden said. “However, the big varia ons we found between costs in European resorts means it will pay dividends to do some homework before leaving home to get a realis c view of the holiday cash needed in the resorts they are considering.”
