She paints in mixed media, oils, watercolours and uses metal leaf in her work, either as a backdrop or as part of the pigment mix. Her work highlights the beauty of contrasting textures. Helen believes that art should play a dynamic part in any space, through vibrant colours or by reflecting light. She is fascinated by intense colour and by the way light falls throughout the day. She has a particular fascination with Hitchcock’s Rebecca and it’s setting of Manderley, as well as the colour palette of the 30s & 40s, which can be seen in her work, whether in the large gilded canvases or in her landscapes and still life paintings.
