indoor swimming pool 2000 seats

A.Y. 2008-2009 Duration: 8 weeks Programs: Revit architecture, Autocad, Photoshop

PROJECT DESCRIPTION This is one of the biggest project in third year. The task was to design a swimming pool with covers for various tournaments of aquatic sports in the country specificly and in the word generally. This project aimed at helping students become familiar with designing public projects that have large aperture and contains a great number of people. Therefore, there are considerable requirements about traffic organisation, lighting and emergency exits if any troubles occur.

8

PROPOSAL In order to make the traffic inside the building cleared, I separated the entrance into two ways. The main gate is for V.I.P guests and athletes. Another gate is for audiences and officers. Because this is a big project where there would be a lot of people gathering, it is necessary to ensure that traffic direction wouldn’t overlap. The main structure I used here is a 2D frame made of steel. This would create a large space without any obstacles for audience to watch the whole tournament more easily. Beside, architectural form was also influenced by the structure. Thus, a curve roof system was designed not only to make the project more interesting but also to contribute to reduce the amount of thermal radiation into the building.

high-rise office building

A.Y. 2010-2011 Duration: 10 weeks Programs: Revit architecture, Autocad, Photoshop

PROJECT DESCRIPTION This type of building includes many offices of various companies so that clients can hire by areas for a definite period up to their requirements. In this project, the task is to design a eighteen-storey office building in a new resident area in the south of Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam. The expected site is about 3.000 square meters in area with the construction density at 35%.

12

PROPOSAL There are three main functional groups offices for rent, management board and an engineering area. My design encompasses a reinforced concrete frame and a covering made of curtain wall associating with a louvered system for shading. The outlook of the building is always one of the most important factors in a high-rise building project. Thus, my design is simple, precise but attractive and in a harmony with the surrounding area The project contains two main blocks.: highrise and low-rise. The high-rise block includes offices for rent and the low-rise is for management board as well as other services such as banking transaction, cafe, fastfood, etc Engineering area is located at the basement and the terrace.

champa museum GRADUATION PROJECT A.Y. 2010-2011 Duration: 18 weeks Programs: Revit architecture, Autocad, Photoshop

PROJECT DESCRIPTION In the final project, students are allowed to choose their own topic related to civil, public and industrial construction, then thinking of a new concept idea and developing it well in total fourteen to sixteen A0 drawings. As being attracted by Champa culture when I visited Binh Thuan, a coastal province of my country, I decided to study more about this topic and choose it to become the main issue in my graduation project. In order to protect this special civilization from the effect of globalization. I intended to design a museum in Binh Thuan, one of

16

the main places where there are still many Champa people living and working, to store all the marks of this magnificient culture in its golden age. Champa culture is mostly famous about pottery, brocade and especially about beautiful but mysterious ancient towers scattered everywhere in the coastal area of Vietnam, which will stimulate the curiosity of people not only in the country but also in all over the world.

The main entrance aims at the exhibition, guided by a line of sculptures shaped similar to a bodhi leaf.

The height level of main lobby is +1.500, which helps the museum look more solemn.

The corridor leading to the reception and exhibition rooms will take visitors back to the golden age of Champa culture.

Champa architecture usually has moderate sizes, compared with Cambodian architecture. However, being constructed on high hills makes these towers become really impressive and majestic.

around San Leonardo church: a rehabilitation project in Mantua

A.Y. 2014-2015 Duration: 18 weeks Programs: Revit architecture, Sketchup, Autocad, Photoshop

PROJECT DESCRIPTION Located in the center of Mantua city, however, the piazza of San Leonardo church is reversely too quiet to be a ‘dead center’. The public space is dedicated for car park even when in front of the church there is a pretty nice open area created by the pavement of the monastery. While being here in the field trip, I realised that it is potential to renovate this area, to make it livelier and become a new gathering point for the students and artists.

24

PROPOSAL Analysis of the axises of the surrounding area and inspiration from the case study of Plaza del Torico in Teruel, Spain brought me to the concept of an open space which can be oriented by pavement tiling. Together with water element, this proposal means to create an innovative urban landscape and a mix-used complex for students and artists. Being chosen as the main theme for ‘the City of Art 2016’, there are a huge number of artists and art students studying and working in Mantua, a city with a long history of art. Hence, it is vital to provide them a well-organised space to support them in daily creative activities and an appropriate environment to communicate and develop their own career.

building technique studio: social housing in Milan A.Y. 2015-2016 Duration: 18 weeks Programs: Revit architecture, Sketchup, Autocad, Photoshop, Ecotect, Best Energy

PROJECT DESCRIPTION The Building Technology Studio is based on the design activity in which the student acquires the ability to control and coordinate building technologies, structural elements and building physics behavior. The workshop comprehends three interconnected sections: Architectural Technology, Structural Design and Building Physics. The theme of the project on which students will develop their activities will be related to the social-housing. The application context will be located within the city of Milan.

34

PROPOSAL The project is focused on designing Residential Housing in milanese context in Piazzale Accursio. The building to be changed into the social housing used to be an office dating back to 50-60 decade. The built context aound is mainly residential and done in different styles, probably in different periods and in the style of 50s or older ones, mainly in 5 to 6 floors. The main orientation of the old building is remained as it is a good way to receive the most sunlight for the housing units and to respect the main axes present in the context. The buildings are connected with a third building in two floors, which has a curvy form as to imply its different function. It will serve as the lobby on the ground floor and as a bridge and terrace on the upper floor. In front of the main buildings there will be some public functions as a restaurant and an area with the potential of temporary markets.

Solar diagram for the outer yard shows that in December, it receives light almost from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., while in June it’s under sunlight from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The solar diagram for the internal courtyard shows that depending on the position we have different solar gain. For the point we have studied, we can see that in December it’s totally in shadow, while in June it receives sunlight from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. As our aim is to create a useful and functional space in the courtyard, we must find a solution to compensate for the low solar gain in the winter, as using high reflective materials for the internal facades.

In this solar diagram we want to see the impact of the 3-floor building on the internal facade of the 5-floor building. As we see the facade has good solar gain in the winter, and for creating shadow in the summer, we push the windows backwards and plant some deciduous trees in front of that facade.

architectural design studio 2 A.Y. 2015-2016 Duration: 18 weeks Programs: Revit architecture, Sketchup, Autocad, Photoshop PROJECT DESCRIPTION The architectural design is placed in a spatial complexity where the site as physical phenomenon is mixed with the site as cultural phenomenon. The main theme of the design experience concerns the way through which ideas take shape. Conceptual consistency is required at every scale: from territory to the smallest building detail. The form is part of a single purpose: making the idea become space. Making a specific program is one of the most important issues of the architectural process.

42

PROPOSAL Originated from the concept of centralization, our proposal concentrates on representing it in both form and configuration from the general scale of the whole project to specific scale of each building. Taking advantage of the canal througn the site, we proposed to enlarge water surface to transform it into the center of a new public open space for new urban users in the neighbourhood of Milan. Consequently a system of trading zones will be established from the main center to private courtyard and even inside each floor of the building. It helps enhance both communication in the community here and association with surrounding area. Besides, architectural form illustrates the concept of project with simple languague by glass and concrete. Two main elements which are high blocks and low platforms deliver contradictory effect, emerging the project and make it become new attraction.

ZEN PIER - STAY STILL, FEEL FREE A.Y. 2015-2016 Duration: 8 weeks Programs: Sketchup, Autocad, Photoshop

PROJECT DESCRIPTION The idea of the course “from inspirations to landscapes is based on an unexpected approach which is generated from the curious observation the starting point is chosen from an apparently meaningless object, consequently researched and developed in a ludic way, into an opportunity

PROPOSAL Tuyen Lam lake is the biggest man-made lake in Da Lat city, Viet Nam. Located close to the complex of Truc Lam temple and listed as one of 21 National Tourism Areas, however, the area around the lake is mostly spontaneously developed. Considering the topography and current situation of the lake shore below the temple, it can be seen that there is possibility and potential here to create a social public open space for tourists and local habitants. After visiting the temple, people can go down to the lake by a bridge connect from water surface to the street. A small pier can be erected here for sigh-seeing sailing. By putting some steps toward the water surface and the overflow deck near the pier, the lake becomes more welcome people to stay there, to relax and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the lake, the hill and the temple.

INTERFERENCE MOTION AND NON-MOTION A.Y. 2015-2016 Duration: 8 weeks Programs: Sketchup, Autocad, Photoshop

PROJECT DESCRIPTION The second topic of this workshop is about renovating the lakeshore in the border of Lugano and Paradiso. People coming here do not notice this special feature as there is no clear characteristic. Hence, the main demand is how to change the atmosphere here and to make it an unforgettable stop with waterscape design.

60

PROPOSAL In Lugano, there is a green promenade that forces us to move forward with not so many stops to approach water surface or to enjoy the lake view. However, when we arrive at the boat station here, we have chance to take a rest, enjoy sunlight, wind, lake and drink a cup of coffee here. Everything seems to stay still for a while. In consideration of the connection from surrounding context to the site, wherever there is a path, there is nothing occupying the lake view. There are 2 important points which are the station and the fountain, playing the role as the beginning and the end of the journey here, marking a space for people to sit which looks like a green amphitheater with lots of trees for shadow, facing to the lake. The coffee shop is still at the same place but the shape is modified a little bit to be compatible with the general form.
