his is an historical day in the life of New Life In Christ Ministries International, as it is our first ordination service.

To our Minister’s elect, it is with much appreciation that the officers and members of New Life In Christ join me in celebrating this auspicious occasion and accomplishment in the lives of Evangelist Rochelle Smith, Evangelist Fransena Johnson, Minister Lakeisha Bastian and Elder, Derrick Knowles, having all served faithfully and dutifully in many aspects of the Ministry. I therefore, take this opportunity to charge each of you to serve with accountability, integrity, compassion and humility, walking in the wisdom and knowledge of God’s Holy word. “I therefore, the prisoner of The Lord beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called.” (Ephesians 4:1)

orn on December 7, 1968 to Ms. Erma Clarke and Mr. Garnett Leslie Knowles (deceased), Elder Elect Derrick Knowles’ spiritual journey dates back to his childhood days and is credited to his grandparents, Mr. Timothy and Mother Melvina Clarke (Exuma) and Glendina and Garnet Knowles (Andros) all of whom were spiritual and civic leaders. As singing is his passion, Elder Elect Derrick Knowles traveled throughout South Florida with his grandmother on missionary journeys singing in churches and on local radio stations.“This little light of mine” would be the featured song, but little did he know, this later would come through, however back then, like most young people, Derrick wanted to explore life outside the church, hence he ventured into secular entertainment. He recalls after recording the song “Dey comin by boat, comin by Plane” his grandmother jokingly told him that he will be leading people to Christ in wheelchair and walking with cane, and just like Grammy predicted. In March of 2008, Elder Elect Derrick Knowles was baptized into faith, but did not step out in faith until July 2011. In December 2011 he rededicated his life and took up full time membership in Chief Corner Stone Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Dencil J. Clarke, the following year on April 12, 2002 he was ordained as Deacon. In March of 2015 after seeking God’s guidance, Elder Elect Derrick joined New Life In Christ Ministries International under the leadership of Pastor Portia and Co-Pastor Patrick Ferguson. There he held the position as former Youth Leader and now serves as Praise and Worship Leader and Assistant Men’s President. He also holds the position as Secretary in the National Brotherhood Department of the PAW Bahamas Turks and Caicos State Council. He is a long standing civil servant in the Ministry of Public Works where he holds the position as Chief Store Keeper. He was re-baptized on March 25, 2017 in the Name of Jesus. This anointed and appointed vessel is happily married to Mrs. Lynn Johnson Knowles from Betsy Village, Governors Harbour, Eleuthera. They are the proud parents of six girls, two boys and two grandchildren. To God be the Glory!

is. Fransena Johnson, a humble servant and child of God, and a mighty Prayer Warrior, was born to the proud parents of Vernell Gibson Bastian and John Destamar (per-deceased) in the beautiful city of Nassau, Bahamas. The fourth of seven children, even though she was the middle child, because she always took charge, when it came to family matters, people who did not know the family well always thought she was the eldest until they were corrected. She obtained her early education at Palmdale Primary School and Secondary Education at D.W. Davis Jr. High and R.M. Bailey Sr. High. She always knew her husband Mr. Lorman Johnson as a child but only began dating him in 1986. They later married in 1989 and have been married for 27 years. This union has been blessed by God with 5 beautiful children, 4 girls and 1 boy and 8 beautiful grandchildren. A Trained Clinical Nurse by profession, who graduated from the School of Nursing in 1998 with the Director of Nursing Award, she continues to exhibit that passion and love for all her patients. Sister Johnson is a listening ear to those who need someone to talk to, and a helping hand to those in need, in whatever way she can help. But there was still a void that only God can fill. She later answered the call to pursue after the things of God, realizing that without God in her life, it would be meaningless and her living would be in vain. A chance she could not afford to take. She loves to pray and intercede on behalf of others and can often be heard in the early hours of the morning by family and neighbors seeking God face as she intervenes on behalf of loved ones, friends, churches and the Nation at large. Presently still a nurse deployed with the Department of PHA, A Senior Trained Nurse on the maternity ward, she continues to let her light shine for Christ Jesus in word and deed. As Jesus is her Divine Savior, Helper and Healer, she is reminded daily that without the Lord Jesus, she would not be here today. Her daily request unto God is quoted from Psalm 51:10-13. The road has not been easy, and the battles have been very tough, but the fuel that keeps us going is the sacrifice that Jesus made for her. So to God be the Glory for what He has done and what He is about to do, as His Perfect will be fulfilled in her life through Christ Jesus!

hen you are hit by adversity or have your life disrupted, how do you respond? Some people feel victimized, they blame others and some shut down. They feel helpless and overwhelmed. Some get angry; they lash out and try to hurt anyone they can. A few however reach within themselves and find ways to cope with difficult circumstances. Lakeisha Bastian is presently employed at Princess Margaret Hospital as an Administrative Assistant. In 2013, she received a Certified Healthcare Management Certification from Nova Southeastern University, in 2008 she obtained a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Psychology and Counseling from Sojourner Douglass College and in 2004 she received an Associate Degree in Psychology and Sociology from the Bahamas Baptist Community College. Lakeisha does not take life for granted. She firmly believes that the greater the test the greater the victory. After having being diagnosed with breast Cancer in 2008, her passion for life grew. She believes that life is a story that has to be shared and that our experiences are what shapes and makes us. In October 2015 Lakeisha had an urgency to share her survivor story to inspire, encourage and motivate not only cancer survivors but hurting individuals. Therefore, she extended herself and spoke at various churches and civic organizations. In February 2016 she was diagnosed with a recurrence of Breast Cancer. It was at this point that Lakeisha realized that God was preparing her for a greater test. Lakeisha defines a survivor as being one who achieves top grades in the biggest test that life could possibly bring. Being a “wounded healer” she knows that God has healed her so that his glory can be revealed in the world.

30

Once Lakeisha heeded the call of God on her life she found a new lease on life, she knows without a shadow of a doubt that all things are possible with God. Under the spiritual leadership of her Pastor and daily seeking God she realized that she was created to serve God and has totally committed her life to the building up of his kingdom. Lakeisha holds numerous positions in her church among them are: Praise Team member, Youth President and Church’s Secretary. The founder of “How Do I Go On” Ms. Lakeisha Bastian hosted her fist motivational conference on July 2nd, 2016. She is the author of No one can stop you but you, and the founder of HEELS Using Humbling Experiences to Empower Ladies. With great strength and fortitude in her quest to help others, Lakeisha spends hours on end ministering via whatsapp and phone calls; she also makes visits to those requiring her presence. Lakeisha is constantly guided by the scripture verse found in Isaiah 43:2 “when you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you, when you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, the flames will not set you ablaze.”

n June 22, 1977 a baby girl was birthed to Reuben Smith and Renay Clarke. They named her Rochelle Kristina Smith, which means rock or battle cry. She is known to be a prayer warrior, and an over comer. She is generally warmhearted, sympathetic and understanding, giving freely of her time. Having a great desire to follow the will of her God, she finds it a delight to assist those in need. Being blessed with three beautiful children Alexander, Chel-Wheata and Clarence, she tries her utmost best to instill the qualities of God in them at all times. The test and trials that she has faced in her life have helped her to become the God fearing woman that she is today. She is a mentor to young ladies that seek direction, assisting them to come to the knowledge of their Lord and Savior. Her stewardship has directed her to the Girls School in 2016 to mentor the young ladies there and at T.A. Thompson Jr. High School. She has also taught at Zion Christian School where she worked with the students of grades three and four. The opportunity to mold the minds of the students was extremely heartwarming as it rekindled one of her first life lessons as she was able to impart the same to the students, “Manners and Respect takes you through the world.” One day her hope and prayer is that she will own her living breathing organization so that she can carry out God’s mandate for her life. Day to day she watches young ladies destroy their temple that God desired for them to worship him and her mission is to lead them into a new path where they reverence The Almighty. She loves when she can get in the presence of God to give him the worship that he truly deserves. God is her all in all he is her everything. She was introduced to a woman of God that has lived the life of Worship and Prayer, a woman who has seen God work for her and she teaches those around her to be faithful and watch God in his fullness. She thanks God for this woman of God every day as this woman teaches the members of New Life in Christ Ministries International to be God abiding Saints. She continues to sit at her feet and do God’s will. This woman is Pastor Portia Ferguson. She knows that life will not be a bed of roses and that the enemy will try hard to destroy her so she will stay prayerful and in the word and in fasting. Her comfort, hope and power over the enemy is found in her favorite bible scriptures, Psalm 91 and 121, favorite song, “God on top of the mountain” and favorite saying “Devil you are a liar and you can’t stop me, not with the Lord and Master by my side.”

Hymns p

great is thy faithfulness 1. “Great is Thy faithfulness,” O God my Father, There is no shadow of turning with Thee; Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.

Lakeisha Bastian

“Great is Thy faithfulness!” “Great is Thy faithfulness!” Morning by morning new mercies I see; All I have needed Thy hand hath provided— “Great is Thy faithfulness,” Lord, unto me! 2. Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest, Sun, moon and stars in their courses above, Join with all nature in manifold witness To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

p p

3. Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth, Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide; Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow, Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

great is thy faithfulness To God be the glory, great things He hath done, So loved He the world that He gave us His Son, Who yielded His life an atonement for sin, And opened the life gate that all may go in. Refrain: Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, let the earth hear His voice! Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, let the people rejoice! Oh, come to the Father, through Jesus the Son, And give Him the glory, great things He hath done. Oh, perfect redemption, the purchase of blood, To every believer the promise of God; The vilest offender who truly believes, That moment from Jesus a pardon receives. Great things He hath taught us, great things He hath done, And great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son; But purer, and higher, and greater will be Our wonder, our transport, when Jesus we see.
