Women’s EHF Champions League 2014/2015 CORPORATE DESIGN

WOMEN´S EHF Champions League Foreword EHF President – Main Round Welcome to Main Round Matches of the WOMEN’S EHF Champions League 2014/15 Dear Friends in Sport,

Welcome to the next exciting stage of the 2014/15 Women’s EHF Champions League. With the conclusion of the Group Matches in November 2014, the twelve remaining teams were drawn across two groups to play the matches of the Main Round commencing 30 January and concluding on 15 March 2015. Over the course of six rounds, 60 matches are to be played out across the arenas of Europe as the women’s top flight event continues, and with the new playing system firmly underway, the Women’s EHF Champions League is edging towards the quarterfinal stage.

Putting the 12 teams under the loupe, with the exception of FC Midtjylland (DEN) who failed to move beyond the qualification stage at the beginning of the season, the other finalists from the previous season – Buducnost (MNE), Györi Audi ETO KC (HUN), and WHC Vardar SCBT (MKD) – remain in the competition. Germany is the only nation to have two teams still in the race for the title, with both drawn into Group I. Buducnost sits at the top of Group I followed by Dinamo-Sinara (RUS), HC Leipzig, WHC Vardar SCBT, RK Krim (SLO) and Thüringer HC. In Group II, the reigning champions Györi Audi ETO KC lead the group based on the points carried over from the previous phase. Scandinavia continues to be represented in the Champions League by Larvik (NOR), Viborg HK A/S (DEN), and IK Sävehof (SWE). Metz Handball (FRA) and HCM Baia Mare (ROU) complete Group II. Across both groups there is a seemingly equal blend of veteran and rookie teams; there are five champions, there are former finalists, and there are also teams who are experiencing their second season in the Women’s EHF Champions League. All twelve teams are eager and motivated to progress to the next stage of the competition; the teams at the bottom of the groups each face an uphill battle as the fight to stay in the running for the quarter-final, and those at the top will have to fight to stay where they are…it is clear that the action of the Main Round is not to be missed.
