Our project is about the Cathedral Quarter and our objectives are to attract more people to the area. As part of our project we reached out to the community in that area and we realised there were a lot of young people a part of that area. We wanted to aim or project at them so we spoke with them in order to find out their needs. They seem to be quite keen on the idea of more food places and a place to chill. Hence our idea, we combined art comfort and food and created an art cafe. We aim to have this cafe located at Churchlane. The downstairs will a cafe for all and our upstairs will be a vibrant creative area for young people. We want this place to be welcoming and comfortable for students. They would have the opportunity to display their art, gain work experience and to explore creative possibilities.
The cafe would be called Youngsters’, and the theme would be the Youth of Today. Tia Yee Look, Laura Gallagher and Darren Gallagher are 1styear LYIT students @ Digital Film and Video course.
Youth clubs Donegal Youth Service kicked off the Christmas Craze on the 12th of December with the Youth Club Christmas Quiz. the phones were put aside, heads were being scratched and you could almost hear the cogs turning! Eight rounds ended in a sudden death Sing-Off between the two top groups. By popular vote the Four Amigo’s came out on top with the high score, taking home the Gold Medals for 2019. Our 11 Christmas Card Competition Winners collected their well-deserved Prizes. A special mention to Matthew Clifford, winner of both the Donegal Youth Service and the All Ireland Youth Work Ireland Nollaig Competition 3 years in a row! Well done to all our winners and a Merry Christmas to all!

But work isn’t everything and we also have some time for fun! Malgorzata, Eurodesk coordinator in Ireland, brought a chocolate vegan cake and took us to dinner to a fantastic Moroccan restaurant with karaoke. we didn’t use the karaoke, but we’ll do it next time.
