Executive Summary The upgrade described in this report includes a single wall‐mounted Pan, tilt, zoom camera, dual‐ projector, separate instructor and student audio capture components and full control integration. This will enable an existing CPCC Smart Classroom to use software‐based web video conferencing as requested in IT Services Project Request #227, Global Classroom. The Gold Option provides enhanced automation and control that is excluded in the Silver Option. However, the Silver Option can be upgraded to Gold. Remote classroom requirements are included in Section V.

Section I: Project Definition Project Charge

Identify the upgrades required in our smart classroom for software, cameras, microphones, dual projectors, screens and other items to enable the Global Classrooms Determine the lowest cost setup for both ends and associated bandwidth impact Define authentication mechanism for participants from other countries Determine if the foreign participants will be only occasional participants or enrolled in our classes (and its implications)

Section II: Considerations Integration

Equipment will be controllable using existing control or similar components Equipment will not rely extensively on battery power Equipment will be securely mounted Classroom setup will have ability to function as standard Smart Classroom Classroom equipment will not be proprietary to any specific software system

Location

Location will be conducive for dual‐projector installation. The selected classroom should be no less than 20 ft. wide. The depth of the selected classroom should be no more than 175 % of the total width.

Section III: Technical Design Summary Audio / Visual Video Summary: A single PTZ (Pan, Tilt, and Zoom) camera mounted to the wall in front of classroom between two projector screens. Camera will be configured with selectable presets for panning and zooming to specific locations throughout room via provided remote control, software interface, standard 12‐button Crestron touchpad and/or wireless touchpad. Video Equipment: Sony EVI D70 PTZ Standard definition (470 TVL), excellent in low‐light environment (1 lux), six‐position presets, extremely fast pan speed (100º/sec), Crestron compatible Video Connectivity: Y/C out from Camera to S‐Video/Cat5 Balun, Cat5 to 4‐pin S‐Video input on Osprey 230 Video Capture Card Note: If Crestron Wireless Touchpad is included in design, camera video out will be split to include Crestron for preview window. Y/C will connect to Kramer Electronics PT‐102S video distribution amplifier. One Y/C out will connect to 4‐Pin input on desktop capture card (as described above) and one Y/C out will connect to Crestron CEN‐ NVS100 Network Video Streamer to deliver live video stream to mobile touchpad. Global Classroom IT Services Project #277 Audio / Visual Component Summary Audio Summary: A single dual‐diversity wireless microphone for instructor audio and one ceiling‐mounted array microphone for student audio. One eight‐channel automatic mixer to connect all audio equipment and control input selection. The mixer is Crestron compatible so that users can choose to mute classroom and/or instructor microphone via any control interface. Audio Equipment: Shure PG Series Dual Wireless Lavalier Microphone System Acoustic Magic Voice Tracker Array Microphone Audio‐Technicia AT‐MX381 SmartMixer Eight‐channel Automatic Mixer Audio Connectivity: Student microphone (Acoustic Magic Array) will connect from 3.5 mm out to Cat5 terminated to balanced input on mixer (Audio‐Technicia AT‐MX381). Instructor microphone (Shure PG88 Dual Channel Diversity Receiver) will connect from XLR out to balanced input on mixer. Mixer will be Crestron‐ controlled and connect balanced audio out to XLR input on Osprey 230 Video Capture Card.
