INTRODUCTION The theme of my portfolio is illustration. From a young age I fell in love with drawing and coloring. I would create characters and monsters that came from my imagination. The world of illustration became an outlet in which I could draw from, bringing my imagination to life. The reason I chose illustration as my main focus was due in large part to my illustrated logos and creations. For example, the National Geographic Cats are simple and childish illustrations. Another example, is Viggo’s Psych-bar. The menu involved characters that I drew. A few facts about, Levi Christian, I am a huge wrestling fan. I am the youngest of eight. I am the only one in my family to pursue a degree in graphic design. I used to make anime music videos. I ran marathons. I am a very quiet and friendly. I am passionate about my work and learning all I can about graphic design. What makes my work unique is my range of creativity; it can range from simple to elegant. My professional objective is to complete my graphic design education and gain employment in which I can showcase my work. My personal objective is to get a job in the graphic design and grow in my art.

TURNBUCKLE BREWERY Project Lucha Libre Theme Beer

Title Turnbuckle Brewery

Art Director Min Choi

Objective: Design a beer product that corelates to both the United States and Mexican Border borders.

Design: I designed a beer product based on lucha libre. Both the United States and Mexico have a passion for the wrestling industry. The name of the company is named TurnBuckle Brewery. The name TurnBuckle comes from the corners of the ring that support the ropes. The target audience is wrestling fans. The product is unique due to its fun and colorful design with a vintage throwback. The labels’ design was inspired from various lucha libre. I made borders and patterns that micked those posters to give a vintage feel. As for the font I wanted something that complimented the shape and boldness of vintage posters. I thought it was appropriate to use Finksans Fonts. The font has the boldness and shape that would compliment the luchador’s artistic style. The mask plays a dominate role of the beer label. The mask gives off the Luchador feel.

Hands-OFF Project Women’s Denfense kit

Title Hands-Off

Art Director Min Choi

Objective: Design a soical

cause kit that includes logo,

three items, container, and booklet.

Design: My social cause kit is a woman’s self-dense kit.

The name of the project is Hands Off. The objective of the kit is to provide women with the feeling of being empowered and secure on college campuses. The second objective the Handsoff kit is to lower the sexual assaults on college campuses. The target audience are women who attend college. This product is unique due to the the items it carries. The kit carries nonleathel assault weapons and a book of what to do after an assault. What makes Hands-Off Unique compared to other products is the design is not a generic like the others on the market. I went through many fonts that would be both empowering and feminine feel. The font I’ve chosen is ITC Galliard. The font has the boldness for the empowerment characteristic and the shape has an elegant feminine feel characteristic. Picking the right colors was a crucial part of the kit. I picked purple as the main color scheme and is a great choice for the Hands Off Kit. The purple represents power which I want them to feel as well as confident and secure with the kit. The container of the kit is homemade purse. The purse is designed to be discreet from potential predators. The kit items include kubotans (non-lethal weapon), pepper spray, whistle, and booklet. The labels, tags, and belly band have a simple checkered design that brings contrast and texture in the design. The booklet design is a simple layout that describes precautions after being assaulted. In the back of the booklet there is an empowering quote.

After a Sexual Assault

It’s hard to know what to do, how to feel, or what your options are after a sexual assault. Please know that you’re not alone. Below are some things to keep in mind. If you are in immediate danger or seriously injured, call 911.

Preserving and Collecting Forensic Evidence

In the immediate aftermath of a sexual assault, the most important thing is for the victim to get to a safe place. Whether it be the victim’s home, a friend’s home or with a family member, immediate safety is what matters most. When a feeling of safety has 1.Your safety is important. Are you in a safe place? been achieved, it is vital for the victim to receive If you’re not feeling safe, consider reaching out to medical attention, and strongly recommended for someone you trust for support. You don’t have to go the victim to receive a forensic examination. through this alone.

2.What happened was not your fault. Something happened to you that you didn’t want to happenand that’s not OK. 3.Call the National Sexual Assault Hotline at 800.656.HOPE (4673). You’ll be connected to a trained staff member from a local sexual assault service provider in your area. They will direct you to the appropriate local health facility that can care for survivors of sexual assault.

Contents : 1. Stun Gun 2. Pepper Spray 3. Whistle 4. Kubaton 5.After Assault Action Sponsors:

Victims should make every effort to save anything that might contain the perpetrator’s DNA, therefore a victim should not: 1.Bathe or shower 2.Use the restroom 3.Change clothes 4.Comb hair

Preserving DNA evidence can be key to identifying the perpetrator in a sexual assault case, especially those in which the offender is a stranger. DNA evidence is an integral part of a law enforcement investigation that can build a strong case to show that a sexual assault occurred and to show that the defendant is the source of biological material left on the victim’s body.

5.Clean up the crime scene Move anything the offender may have touched Even if the victim has not yet decided to report the crime, receiving a forensic medical exam and keeping the evidence safe from damage will improve the chances that the police can access and test the stored evidence at a later date.

NATIONAL GEOGR APHIC Project Balance theme

Title National Geographic Balance cats.

Art Director Amy Levine

Objective:

Design a National Geographic Learning Program for non-english speaking kids

Design:

The theme of the assigment is balance. This is National Geographic a learning program that is geared to children who do not speak english or very little english. The objective of the design is to encourage children to be excited about learning. The target audience for this assignment is kindergarden to sixth grade. This is geared for children learning the english langauge in a fun learning environment. This product is unique from the other educational tools and its illustrations. It is not a standard work manual used in schools. In the design for balance I created cat characters. The cat characters are engaging and user friendly. I illustrated different poses of the cats to create the act of balance. The cat illustrations are masked with images that coincide with the book subject matter. For the masthead font I chose cooperblack, which gives a playful and whimsical feel of the cat design. The cover has words and icons that describe the subject matter of the books. The mouse pad design is a simple pattern of: cats heads, planets, and shuttles. The lanyard is a simple design that has the Balance logo and space theme icons. The Splash page design is easy user experience design that has a chalkboard background and a showcase of learning programs. The quiz page is a fun and simple layout with a mulitple choice.

KOHOLA Project Hawiian theme Culture center

Title Kolhola culture and arts center

Art Director Amy Levine

Objective: Design a monument and signiage for a cultural center.

Design: Theme of the

assigment theme is based in Hawaii. The cultural center name is Kohola. Kohola in Hawaiian means community. The objective of the product is to make a monument and signage that has a Hawaiian feel. The target audience are tourists and Hawaiian locals. What makes these people unique is their williness to learn about the Hawaiian culture and other cultures. What make this monument and signage unique is the representation of both the look and feel of the Hawaiian culture. The Kohola is a modified impact font. The Impact was appropriate for the design of the logo. The Font shares the thickness and boldness of the Hawaiian carvings. The monument sign is inspired by the wildlife and enviroment of the islands. The rockyness forms the base for the monument and the plant life displays the beauty and vibrancy of the island. The signage is inspired by the wood carving art of Hawaiian culture. I wanted to capture the turtle shell carving style in the signage. The directory is a simple readable map for the Cultural Center.

SUGOI!!! Project Anime News Magazine

Title Sugoi!!!!

Art Director Sean Bacon

Obective: Design magazine with a theme. Design:The theme I have chosen was an anime news based magazine . The theme name of the magazine is Sugoi!!!. The word Sugoi in Japanese means awesome in English. The target audience of Sugoi is anime fans. The audience is unique in their love for anime movies. Anime fans want to learn more about new releases and the latest anime. What makes Sugoi unique is the overall feel of anime. The Masthead, covers, and website screams anime. The Masthead logo is a modified AR Delaney font. The O is modified to make my version of a Japanese animated character. I created both magazine covers with colorful fun shapes and popular anime character layout that compliment each other. For the main article layout, I wanted to showcase Hayao Miyazaki’s artwork and characters. I also masked his name with his characters inside the font and added images with watercolor drops to give it a fun world for his characters to live in. For the desktop and Ipad layouts, I created a colorful and vibrant environment for the layout design. I have a user friendly navigation bar and a call to action subscription bar. There is also a news and review section feed with a simple scroll down and click action for easy navigation.

SAN DIEGO YOUTH SERVICES Project Redesign Current non-profit website

Title San Diego Youth Services

Art Director Paul Drophan

Objective:To redesign a current local non-profit. Desgin a clear and easy user experinace.

Design: To redesign a current local non-profit. Design a clear and easy user experience. Design: This assignment purpose is to redesign a local non profit website. The non-profit I have chosen is the San Diego Youth Services. The first order of remodeling the site was to organize the information and give a clear and easy user experience. The target audience is the youth in the community. What makes the audience unique is their willingness to help the younger generations in San Diego. The main page displays content of the overall mission of the organization. The main page also has a news feed for events the the non-profit is holding. I added a new feature on the site that included a link for Helping Young Mothers page. Helping Young Mothers gives an insight to young mothers’ lives and struggles; it will also showcase success stories. Clicking on a photo of a young mother, will redirect you to a timeline page of her story. The mother will share the events leading to her pregnancy, becoming homeless, and how she overcame homelessness.
