So many parts of our county currently don't have access to reliable and affordable internet when it is needed more than ever. Our partnership with Mifflin County Wireless was a natural fit, and we are looking forward to growing with them." Since partnering the companies have more than tripled the areas of Mifflin County that have access to high-speed internet. Six new towers were brought into operation in the past year for a combined eight that serve Mifflin County with reliable high-speed internet. A ninth tower is currently under construction in Decatur Township. When it comes to quality, custom made furniture J&M Country Furniture in Allensville always has the customer in mind. Come and explore Josh and Mary Peacheyʼs 10,000 square foot showroom filled with unique hardwood furniture built on location in the connecting shop. Whether itʼs different measurements for an existing piece or a completely new design, Josh can help create any furniture to fit the customers' needs. At J&M they specialize in barn door furniture designed by Josh himself. But customers arenʼt just limited to items that are in the showroom. “If the customer lets us know what they are looking for we can go from there to make them a custom design.” Josh said, “It all starts with the measurements.” All of the rolling barn doors on J&Mʼs furniture feature soft closes to avoid slamming and banging of the door. J & M has over ten different hardwood species to choose from including poplar, oak, ash, walnut, elm and hickory to name a few. Most of the wood used at J&M is

cut and dried at a local lumber mill a tenth of a mile from the shop. This not only allows J&M to keep their stockpile of hardwoods full but greatly reduces the delivery time for any wood needed for a custom project. J&M also offers a variety of natural wood and stain finishes, one of which they created themselves. “Itʼs a new color you wonʼt find on the market.” Josh said. The color they refer to as “Beach” is a combination of colored lacquers, stain and clear coat that, when applied, comes out a blueish gray color that shows the grain of the hardwood Once Josh has a design drawn up the specifications are taken into J&Mʼs shop for him and his crew of 8 craftsmen to begin work on the custom piece of furniture. There the piece begins at the cutting station and continues on through the shop making the necessary stops at such stations as glueing, sanding, drawer and door construction. The piece of furniture is then taken to the finishing room where it undergoes a 7 to 8 step process with the desired

stain, colored lacquers and clear coat. Once dry the custom piece is assembled and its hardware, such as knobs and handles, are attached. Finally the piece goes through a quality check and is inspected for any defects. When the piece passes a signed and dated inspection sticker is placed in an inconspicuous location on the furniture. If any defect is found the crew at J&M will remake and refinish the piece. Making a custom piece of furniture at J&M from the cutting station to final assembly usually takes 3 to 4 days to complete.

Flickinger’s Paws and Claws, LLC now has two locations to fulfill all your pet’s grooming needs. Owner Sara Flickinger opened the Mifflintown location three years ago, with over ten years’ of experience under her belt. Since then she has expanded to a second location on South Second Street in Newport. Groomer Jamie Grieb has the helm at the new Newport location which is approaching it’s one year anniversary. Flickinger’s has recently welcomed a new groomer as well. Danielle Orfino brings 9 years of experience and ex-

pertise to the Mifflintown team. Sara envisioned a shop where you are treated like family and your pets are loved as if they are her own. She turned this dream into a reality, offering both Juniata County and Perry County a safe, friendly, clean, grooming environment to take your pet to get the treatment that they deserve. Not only do they groom your dog or cat to perfection, they offer walk-in “pawdicures” as well as providing safe, natural, made in the USA, pet retail. They are happy to sell Raw Bar, bakery treats, CBD Oil, FroYo, frozen bones, and much more. Flickinger’s now offers Thera-Clean

Microbubble Baths, which can “de-skunk” and deodorize all fur babies. The microbubble machine brings an all new meaning to client’s pets’ “spa days”. Some renovations are being made at Flickinger’s to help provide better and faster service for it’s customers. The warm, kind staff at Flickinger’s Paws and Claws Grooming Shoppe are certified in all the work they do and are excited to meet and treat your pet. What started as fulfilling a need for broadband internet in the Penns Valley area, Centre WISP has since grown to become the most experienced wireless internet service provider in the region. The team at Centre WISP have over a decade of combined experience which is important to owners David and Laura Gibbons. “Internet service is really important so we like to make sure our installations are done professionally and cleanly and in a way that makes sure residents are going to have service for years to come.” David said. “We have a team that really knows what they are doing. We know how to quickly determine whether or not a customer is serviceable and how to fix any problems that come up. That really matters when it comes to reliability of service.” Headquartered in State College, the family-owned company is one of the larger regional internet service providers in central Pennsylvania. Operating in the region that they cover allows Centre WISP to offer a personal level of customer service you don’t get from national service providers. In 2015 the Gibbons set out to fulfill the needs of some regions of Centre County that had no access to broadband internet. After talking with businesses and residents in those areas they created the internet service provider Centre WISP with a focus on unserved and underserved areas of the region. Since then Centre WISP has been working with county governments, local communities, residents and businesses to locate areas that need additional and better internet access so they can deliver that access to customers. Through various partnerships with the Mifflin, Juniata and Perry counties, Centre WISP has been able to greatly expand its network

over the past year or so. As a result, Centre WISP now covers 90% of Mifflin County, nearly all of Juniata County, as well as portions of Huntingdon, Perry and Snyder counties. “So from Penns Valley in Centre County to Big Valley in Mifflin County all the way down to the south toward Blain we have a really significant coverage footprint and we can bring very fast and very reliable internet access to anyone with line of sight to the towers.” David said. Centre WISP provides fixed wireless internet access with all the necessary equipment to provide the service being owned by the company. This allows Centre WISP to have tight control over the internet access delivery process allowing for high performance and consistently high internet speeds with no data caps. The internet speeds advertised to customers by Centre WISP are minimum speeds. This means customers will receive that speed or, in some cases, a faster speed. Most Centre WISP customers see speeds that are 2 to 3 times faster than the speed advertised. This is just one way Centre WISP values being honest to what they describe to their customers.
