BJane Ann Brown

Jane Ann Brown, 72, of Lewistown, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, at William Penn Healthcare in Lewistown.

Born April 15, 1951 in Carlisle, she was a daughter of the late George R.

and Verletta E. (Perschau) Areeda Sr. Her husband, Timothy C. Brown, whom she married July 25, 1970, preceded her in death on Feb. 9, 2017.

Also preceding her in death was a brother, George R. Areeda Jr.

Surviving are: cousins, Cathy Conner and husband, Mark of McVeytown, Teresa Dorman and husband, John of Duncannon; brother and sister-in-laws, Sam Brown and wife, Jean of North Pole, A.K., Judy Brown of Spanaway, W.A., Bernadette Heister and husband, Pete of McVeytown, Charles Harshbarger and wife, Bonnie of of Lewistown, Wendy Brown Kirk and husband, Ken of Blairs Mills; and many nieces and nephews.

Early in life she was employed at Rea & Derick Drugstore in Lewistown, and later worked for many years in the office of Overhead Door Corp., Lewistown.

Jane enjoyed her many animals, and reading and writing poetry.

A graveside committal service was to be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024, at Pleasant View Cemetery, Mattawana, with Mr. John Massey officiating. Immediately following there was to be a time of sharing and fellowship luncheon at the Rothrock Playground Community Building, 5566 US Highway 522 South, McVeytown.

Mary M. Brumbaugh

Mary M. Brumbaugh, 85, of McVeytown, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2024, at William Penn Healthcare in Lewistown.

Born Dec. 13, 1938 in Berlin, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Eugene W. and S. Marie (McCabe) Engleka. Her husband, John S. Brumbaugh, preceded her in death on April 30, 2004.

Also preceding her in death was a daughter, Lindsey A. Koch, on Dec. 1, 2007; a brother, Kenneth Engleka; and a longtime companion, Willis Kauffman.

Surviving are: nine children, Colleen Basore of Bedford, Sheila Weiss of Louisville, Ky., Janie Snyder and husband, David of Lewistown, Jo-Nell Wagner and husband Todd of Newport, Susan Wilson and husband, Patrick of Lewistown, Sharon Hess and husband, Crist of Newport, M. Darlene Hollenbaugh and husband, Chad of Strattanville,

Johnny Brumbaugh and wife, Katina of McClure, Jeremy Brumbaugh of Lewistown; 17 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.

A homemaker, Mary also had worked at the Malta Home in Granville.

Her greatest joy was time spent with her family.

Services were to be private with interment in Mattawana Cemetery, McVeytown.

Roger L. Beasom

Roger L. Beasom, 39, of Mifflintown, died unexpectedly on Jan. 25, 2024.

Born April 5, 1984, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Michael Beasom and Betty (Mellinger) Beasom Kuhn.

He is survived by his significant other, Brandi Ranck, two sons, Lee Beasom and Greyson Beasom, and one brother, Michael C. Beasom and girlfriend, Peggy Hockenberry, of Richfield.

Roger graduated from Juniata High School and worked at Darlings Rendering Plant, Mifflintown. He was a member of the Mifflintown American Legion.

He enjoyed racing, fishing and salvaging scrap, but most of all he loved his family and spending time with his kids.

His memorial service was to be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 1, at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., Mifflintown, with Russell Bowersox officiating. Interment was to be at the convenience of the family. There was to be no viewing.

Tyler Elliott Bonson

Tyler Elliott Bonson, 37, of Lewistown, passed away Jan. 22, 2024. Born April 7, 1986 in State College, Tyler was the son of Lisa Bonson, of Spring Mills, and the late Ronald “Butch” Orner. He was a 2004 graduate of Penns Valley Area High School.

Tyler was employed as a cell phone repairman. He enjoyed many hobbies such as fishing, playing pool, throwing darts, video games & watching movies.

In addition to his mother, Tyler is survived by his son, Trace Bonson; his brother, Clinton Bonson of San Antonio, T.X.; his niece, Emma Bonson and a nephew, Corbin Bonson. Also surviving are three uncles, William Bonson, Jr., Charles Bonson, Timothy Bonson (Patti), one aunt, Carol Bonson and cousin’s Rachael Schu, Brenda Kassab (Jim), and their children, Josie & Pearl Kassab.

Kimberly A. Brown

Kimberly A. Brown, 64 of 11622 Brown Road, Mill Creek, passed away at home on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2024.

She was born on April 27, 1959, in Huntingdon to the late George G. Morningstar and Shirley Mae (Hetrick) Morningstar-Treese of James Creek, Pa. On Jan. 5, 1985, she married John S. Brown, who survives at home.

In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by sons: Steven Brown of Mill Creek, Timothy Brown and wife, Amanda of N.J., Phillip Brown of Mill Creek, Titus Brown and wife, Charlotte of Huntingdon; three grandchildren: Emaline Brown, Evelyn Brown and Olivia Brown; siblings: Cheryl Russell and husband, Jeff of James Creek and Raymond “Pud” Morningstar and wife, Lori of Entriken.

She graduated from Huntingdon High School in 1978 and worked at the Woodcock Valley Branch of Penn Central National Bank for five years. She was primarily a homemaker and mother.

She was a member of the Allensville Community Church and had previously attended Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Huntingdon and a ladies Bible study for a number of years. She had been disabled for over 20 years. In her earlier years, she enjoyed going to the beach with her family. She enjoyed looking out the windows and keeping up with what was going on. Most recently, she liked watching Hallmark movies. She looked forward to family gatherings.

A funeral service was to be held on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024, at the Allensville Community Church, 126 East Main Street, Allensville, PA, with Pastors Tyler Covert and George “Buddy” Baird officiating. A visitation was to take place prior to the service. Burial was to be private and at the convenience of the family at the John Brown Cemetery, Mill Creek PA.

Joseph ‘Joe’ Dominick Bucceri

Joseph “Joe” Dominick Bucceri, 81, of Reedsville, passed away at 7:53 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2024, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.

Born June 6, 1942, in Johnstown, he was a son of the late Salvatore and Rose (Guetta) Bucceri. He is survived by: wife, Myra L. (Fleeger) Bucceri, whom he married Oct. 24, 1979; sons, Joseph A. Bucceri and wife, Rachel, of Calabash, N.C., David M. Bucceri, of New Castle,

Michael S. Bucceri and wife, Dagmar, of Lacey, Wash., and Harlan Mone, of New Castle; numerous grandchildren; and siblings, Rosie Simmons, of Kingston, N.C., Cora Jones, of Hollidaysburg, and Arthur Bucceri and wife, Marlene, of Seward, Pa.

He earned his bachelor’s degree through Clarion University, and his master’s degree in science from Slippery Rock University of Pa.

Joe was employed by the Mifflin County School District as a high school chemistry and science teacher until he retired in 1996. After retirement, he and Myra operated a handyman business.

Joe was dearly loved by his family, friends, and many of the students he taught through the years. He will be missed.

Per his wishes, no services were to be held.

CJack M. Coffey

Jack M. Coffey, 90, 9 Ards Ridge Road, Lewistown, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024, at home.

He was born on April 11, 1933, in Lewistown, to Fullmer and Sylvia (Webb)

Coffey who preceded him in death. On Dec. 27, 1953, he married Nancy C. (Shank) Coffey, who survives at home. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter; a son-in-law Michael Rose; and sisters Donna Worley and Elaine Clark.

Surviving are children, Brenda Rose of Lewistown, Sandra Lagasee of West Palm Beach, Fla., Wayde Coffey and wife Kimbra of Lewistown; 10 grandchildren; 26 greatgrandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren, and a sister Patricia Coffey of Belleville. He graduated in 1951 from Lewistown High School and was employed at Standard Steel as a mail boy. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp from 19531956, then went back to Standard Steel and retired in 1995 with 39 years of service. He was a member of the VFW Post 7011 in

Joann G. Carper

Joann G. Carper, 88, of Lewistown, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2024, at William Penn Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born Sept. 23, 1935, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late William and Phyllis (Fluke) Snook. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her

Lewistown, and the Slim Walley Rot-N-Gun Club in Juniata County.

He enjoyed hunting, bowling, walking and running marathons, avid motorcycle rider with his wife until he was 85 years old.

A viewing was to be held 10 - 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 12, 2024, with the funeral service following at 11 a.m. at Henderson-Bohn Funeral Home, 55 N. Main St., Reedsville, Pa., with Pastor Darryll Wireman officiating. Burial took place at Woodlawn Cemetery, Milroy, Pa.

Joann is survived by her children, Nancy Carper and husband, Thomas Russell, of San Antonio, T.X., Elaine Carper Ross, of Palmdale, Calif. and Gail Yoder and husband, Larry, of Reedsville, grandchildren, Jodi Good and husband, James, Jenny Shreffler and husband, Shawn, Aaron Tsutaoka and wife, Brigitte, and Travis Tsutaoka, five great-grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren.

She was a member of Rhodes Memorial United Methodist Church.

Joann loved traveling, riding her motorcycle, and camping. Most of all, she cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren.

A memorial service in loving memory of Joann was to be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 12, 2024, at King Funeral Home, 47 Carriage House Lane, Reedsville, with Pastor Steven Small officiating. There was to be a visitation held at the funeral home from noon until time of service.

Private burial was to take place in Juniata Memorial Park at a later date.

Ellen McGill Robinson Chack

Ellen McGill Robinson

Chack, 81, of Fermanagh Township, Juniata County, died Dec. 29, 2023, in Hospice Care at Locust Grove Nursing Home. Ellen died of complications from Ovarian Cancer. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Alan Chack.

Ellen attended school in Juniata County. She graduated from Wilson College and earned a Master’s Degree in Library Science from Drexel University. In addition to her MLS she returned to Drexel University for Certificates of Advanced Study in Law Librarianship and Medical Librarianship. Ellen’s working career included libraries in Georgetown and Takoma Park, Washington D.C.; research for a British architect in Philadelphia; reference librarian at the Municipal Ref-

erence Library, New York City; reference librarian at the Donnell Library Center, New York City. After moving back to Juniata County she was the first full time Librarian at the Juniata County Library. Ellen’s career was capped by appointment as Section Chief of the Law Library Division, Office of the Attorney General of Pennsylvania, from which she retired after 22 years.

Ellen was enthusiastic about “all things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small, and all things wise and wonderful”. She was a voracious reader, lover of movies, live theater, fine art, and she loved to share what she found with her husband and good friends. At Wilson College, Ellen participated in a modern dance program, “Orchesis”, that fueled her love of the art of dance.

Ellen enjoyed traveling when she could. Ellen was able to live in Greece through “The Experiment in International Living” program. Her travels included Greece, Italy, France, Germany, as well as Canada, Mexico, China, Hong Kong, England, Scotland, and Wales. Ellen made many friends throughout her life and she delighted in still knowing those from her school days in Juniata County, clear back to first grade.

Ellen’s parents, Clark and Evelyn Robinson, were living and working in NYC, where Ellen was born in the Sydenham Hospital in Harlem (Ellen

never tired of calling herself a native New Yorker even though she was only 6 months old when she left). When WWII started her father, Clark, worked in a naval shipyard and then was drafted into the Navy. Her mother, Evelyn, moved back to Pennsylvania to be closer to her family. After the war, Clark and Evelyn moved to the Moist Family Farm on Cedar Spring Road. The farm was in Evelyn’s family since 1811. Ellen was very proud of the long family history associated with the farm, the family, and the old farmhouse where she grew up.

Ellen is survived by her brother Michael Robinson, wife, Kathanne, and two sons with their own families; her cousins Nancy Serotkin and Nora Serotkin, cousin David Harry Serotkin and his family; nephew Sine Rofofsky. Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents Walter and Mabel Robinson; cousin, Gordon Robinson and his wife; grandparents, David and Maude Moist; aunt Dorothea and her husband, Harry Serotkin; aunt, Margaret Moist; and cousins, David Serotkin and Jon Serotkin.

Ellen’s strong sense of morality and ethics guided her choices in life and was clearly evident to all who knew her.

At Ellen’s direction there was to be no funeral or other service.

DRonald R. Drass

Ronald R. Drass, 87, of Lewistown, passed away Friday, Jan. 19, 2024, at his home.

Born Aug. 31, 1936, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Norman R. and Catherine I. (McCardle) Drass.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy M. (Zettles)Drass; siblings, Shirley Yearick, Marie Marker, Doris Jean Wray, Richard, George, and Leonard Drass.

Ronald is survived by his brother, Dennis W. Drass and wife, Patricia A., of Lewistown. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Ronald was a United States Marine Corp veteran who fought in the Korean Conflict.

He was self-employed as a painter. He loved singing in church, and loved the Juniata River and going fishing.

A visitation was to be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2024, at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with a memorial service to follow at 11 a.m., with Reverend Karen McCachren officiating.

EHelen ‘Jo’ (Graham) Erdley

Helen “Jo” (Graham) Erdley, 91, a resident of the Masonic Village at Elizabethtown, and formerly of Huntingdon and Lewistown, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Dec. 8, 2023, at the Masonic Village, after a brief illness. Born Oct. 11, 1932, in Bellefontaine, O.H., she was a daughter of the late Harry and Mary (Yoder) Graham. She was united in marriage to Forrest C. Erdley, Jr. on Oct. 12, 1958, in Kenton, O.H. Mr. Erdley survives at the Masonic Village at Elizabethtown.

In addition to her husband of 65 years, she is survived by a son and two daughters, Michael Erdley and wife, Stephanie, of Fayetteville, Teresa Lee and husband, Jeffrey, of Elizabethtown, and Laura E. Rusk of Harrisburg; a son-in-law, Mark Thomas of Spring Grove; eight grandchildren, Rachelle Bethea and husband, William Bethea Jr., Jonathan Lee and wife, Lea, Cpt. Matthew Erdley and wife, Heidi, Kristen Beiersdorf and husband, Gunnery Sgt. Jon Beiersdorf, Tyler

Lee and wife, Savannah, Ashleigh Lavoie and fiancÈ, Joseph Schuster, David Erdley, and Emily Lewis and husband, Justin; and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Connie Graham; and a brother-in-law, Ronald Brown, both of O.H.. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Thomas in April, 2016; and siblings, Harry Graham, Ruth Snider, James Graham, and Eleanor Brown.

Mrs. Erdley was a member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, Huntingdon, and formerly of the Reedsville Evangelical Lutheran Church, Reedsville.

She was a former member of the Women of the Moose #212, Lewistown.

Mrs. Erdley was a 1950 graduate of Kenton High School, Kenton, O.H.

She was employed as an Office Clerk at Big Valley Feed & Grain, Belleville, and retired in 1996 after 20 years of service.

Mrs. Erdley enjoyed crocheting, reading, playing BINGO, putting together jigsaw puzzles, and her dog, Jazzee.

Friends were invited to call from 11:30 a.m. until the hour of the memorial service at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024, at the John B. Brown Funeral Home, 417 Washington Street, Huntingdon, with the Reverend M. Suzanne Morelli officiating. Interment was to be in the Machpelah Cemetery, Belleville.

George Allen

‘Butch’ Eddy

George Allen “Butch” Eddy, 76, of Milroy, formally of McClure, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by family on Jan. 5, 2024.

Born Oct. 2, 1947, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Samuel G. and Dorothy M. (Rager) Eddy.

He is survived his wife, Kesorn (Puchomchoun) Eddy, of Thailand, of 53 years, whom he married March 5, 1970; daughter, Anna Greene, of Harrisburg, son, Audie Eddy and wife, Dionne, of Dunlevy, daughter, Angie Eddy and companion, Lawrence Geedy, of Harrisburg, and son, Taiwe Eddy and wife, Nicole, of Elizabethtown; grandchildren, Craig M. Everette II and Aminah K. Everette, Elijah Eddy and Rece Eddy, as well as Brynley and Peyton Eddy; great-grandchildren, Craig M. Everette III, Lake M. Everette, Miles M. Everette;

brother, Pastor Kenneth Eddy and wife, Spring, of Reynoldsville, sister, Marleen Hackett and husband, Pastor Ray Hackett, of Dalmatia, sister, Rhonda Geedy and husband, Pastor Randy Geedy, of McClure; many loving nieces and nephews.

George graduated from West Snyder High School in 1965 and soon after graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He did two tours in Korat, Thailand where he met his wife, Kesorn. After 22 years of service, he retired in 1989, and returned to Pa. and found employment with the state as a Veterans Affairs Representative at the unemployment office where he retired in 2007.

He loved collecting coins, and antique furniture. He enjoyed refinishing and breathing new life into old and tired furniture pieces. He had a passion for poetry and is a published poet, titled ‘Memories Talk’ by George Eddy.

George was very proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and he loved his family very much. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.

A receiving of friends was to be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. FNancy J. Foose

Nancy J. Foose, 89, of Tuscarora, passed away Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, with her family beside her at the home of her grandson, Randy Foose, in Mifflin.

Born Dec. 15, 1934 in Van Dyke, she was one of 11 children of the late John Edward and Viola (Reed) Bowen. Her husband, Harry H. Foose, Sr. whom she married Feb. 10, 1950, passed away on Feb. 23, 1990.

“Gram” as she was known to family and friends, is survived by five children, Harry H. “Herb” Foose, Jr. and wife, Leah, of Mifflintown, Michael

E. Foose and wife, Sheree of McAlisterville, Fred A. Foose and wife, Lee Ellen, of Port Royal, Cindy J. Horning and husband, Larry, of McAlisterville, and Jerry L. Foose of Port Royal, eight grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 12 step-great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Scott Foose and Steven Foose, and two grandsons, Todd Foose and Danny Foose, four sisters and six brothers, making her the last of her generation.

Nancy was a USDA Food Inspector at Empire Kosher Poultry and became a private caregiver after she retired. She enjoyed doing word searches, putting

Millie was born Nov. 1, 1970, in Camden, N.J. to Albert Robertson and Mildred H. Robertson. She is survived by her son, Cody J. Robertson, her sister, Donna L. Robertson, her brother, Michael A. Robertson, and many nieces and nephews.

Melvin P. “Shorty” Fultz, 76, of Middle Road, Lewistown, passed away on Friday, Jan. 26, 2024, at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.

Born Feb. 22, 1947 in McVeytown, he was a son of the late Harry J. “Ted” and Vada Mae (Traxler) Fultz. His wife, Mary Jane (Warner) Fultz, preceded him in death on May 13, 2005.Also preceding him in death was a sister, Margaret J. Arnold.

Surviving are: a daughter, Susan Mae Hetrick and husband, Erik of Spring Mills; a son Brian K. Fultz and wife, Christine of Burnham; five siblings, Herbert J. “Dick” Fultz and wife, Brenda of Lew-

istown, Clyde S. “Doodle” Fultz and wife, Lonna of Mifflintown, Donna K. Goss and husband, Robert of McVeytown, Connie M. Goodling and husband, Arthur of Liverpool, Rick Fultz and wife, Cindy of McVeytown; nine grandchildren and their families; and a longtime companion, Nettie Fisher of Lewistown.

Melvin retired from Overhead Door Corp. in Lewistown with 38 years of service.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.

Donald R. Gussler Sr., 89, of Lewistown, passed away Monday, Jan. 8, 2024, at Brookline Manor.

Born Sept. 8, 1934, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Benjamin H. and Dorothy Mae (Wirrick) Gussler.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by an infant daughter, Darlene Gussler; a grandson, Daniel Gussler; and siblings, Robert Hockenberry, William Hockenberry, Corrine McLaughlin and Bonnie Benner.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Beckwith) Gussler; children, Denise Gussler, of Lewistown, Donald R. Gussler Jr. and companion, Barb, of New Bloomfield, Diane Gussler, of Collingswood, N.J. and Dana Snyder and husband, Jon, of Halifax; grandchildren, Steven Miller and wife, Karla, Benjamin Gussler and companion, Debra, Ciana Brown, Linzea Snyder, and Brittany Snyder; great-granddaughters,

Aubrey Gussler and Paislee Snyder; and a sister, Judy Nace, of McAlisterville.

Donald was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ.

He was also a member of Masonic Lodge #203 F&AM, Harrisburg Consistory Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Elks Lodge #663, Loyal Order of Moose #143, American Legion Logan Guard Post #90. A past vice-president of PA State Council of Carpenters and a past vice-president of State Building Trades, an ex-board member of Carpenters District Council of Western PA and served on Pension Board, past Trustee and Rec. Secretary of Local No. 1333 State College PA, and a member of the Mifflin Juniata Marine Corp League. He was a graduate of Derry Township High School, Class of 1952.

Donald was a United States Marine Corp veteran. He served in the Korean Conflict.

Earlier in life, he was a union carpenter for many years then he became a Union Business Representative for the Carpenter’s Union, retiring Sept. 1996.

A celebration of life was to be held at 2 p.m., on Monday, Jan. 15, 2024, at Trinity United Church of Christ, 20 Oak St., Lewistown, with Pastor Jeannine Leister officiating.

Clifford P. Horning, 82, formerly of Thompsontown, passed away at 6:10 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 30, 2023, at WellSpan York Hospital.

Born on July 19, 1941, in Thompsontown, he is the son of the late Robert L. and Ida M. (Graybill) Horning. On July 18, 1970, he was married to his late wife, Ethel L. (Light) Horning, with whom he was blessed to share more than 48 years of marriage before her passing on Dec. 13, 2018.

He is survived by his children, Barbara Crum, of York, Suzanne Eichman, of Harrisburg, Michael Horning, of Thompsontown, James Horning of I.D.; three grandchildren, Adam, Alison, and Cortney; four great-grandchildren, AunaLeiha, Anya, Alec, and Harlow; one niece, Dawn Horning; and one nephew, Brett Fisher.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Pauline Dreibelbis.

Mr. Horning was a graduate of East Juniata High School in Cocolamus and was employed for many

years as a Manager for Avis Rent a Car and retired from Sausman Insurance Company in Thompsontown.

Cliff was a member of the Thompsontown Methodist Church and was a longtime faithful volunteer for the Thompsontown Ambulance League where he served the community for many years as a driver and First Responder.

Cliff was an avid dirt track racing fan following the local dirt track circuit throughout Central Pa. and during the winter months, he enjoyed traveling to Fla. to watch dirt track racing; however, his greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service was to be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024, from the Thompsontown Methodist Church, West Main St., Thompsontown with Pastor Donald Walters officiating. Interment was to be private at a later date in the Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Thompsontown.

There was to be no viewing; however, the family was to receive friends from 2 p.m. until the time of service at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024, at the church.

James Clark Harper, 83, of Middletown, entered into eternal rest, Nov. 30, 2023. He was born in Lewistown on March 4, 1940 to the late James M. and Helen L. (Shirk) Harper.

Jim was a proud US

Army Veteran having served in Korea. He was a graduate of Kishacoquillas High School, attended San Angelo College in T.X. and graduated from the Thompson Institute. Jim was retired from the borough of Middletown where he served as the Finance Director until 1995 and he also worked as an accountant for the George Frey Trust for over 50 years. Jim coached baseball and also umpired baseball and softball in the area for many years. He was a charter member of the Lower Swatara Township Lion’s Club and a member of the American Legion, Post 594. Jim loved to go to camp to hunt, fish and relax with family and friends.

Jim was married to the love of his life, Bonnie L. (Amick) Harper for 62 years. She blessed him with two great sons – James Brian and John

Jerry D. Hannon, 81, of Lewistown, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024, at William Penn Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born June 23, 1942, in Lewistown, he was the son of Cameron Hannon Sr. and Esther (Limes) Hannon who preced him

Adam. They, in turn, married two lovely women. Brian married Cherise Farmer and they were blessed with a daughter, Jordan, and son, Dakota. John married Jessica Ludwig and they were blessed with three sons – Logan, Chase and Cole.

Jim also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Mary Kay, who was married to his late brother Donald. They had two sons – Donald and Kelly, and they have several children. In addition to family, Jim leaves behind wonderful friends, which he was blessed to know.

Per Jim’s wishes, he is to be cremated.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War,

to Senior Tool Engineer, retiring in 2002. He was a passionate train enthusiast and always displayed elaborate train layouts. He will be remembered as a faithful New York Yankee and Penn State Football fan. Most of all, he enjoyed family gatherings for holidays, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A private graveside service is to be held at Juniata Memorial Park at a later date.

Hostetler, 41, of 575 Green Lane, Belleville, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024, at home.

He was born on Sept. 10, 1982, in Juniata County to Solomon and Nancy Hostetler of Belleville.

On Oct. 16, 2008, he married Rhoda (Kanagy) Hostetler, who survives at home.

Susan held many jobs throughout her life, retiring to travel and enjoying time with Larry. The inseparable couple, some might call them, traveled near and far to watch the grandchildren’s sporting events. They could often be seen on Friday nights at the Bel-Vue or Angelo’s restaurant.

Susan was a loving, devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was kind and loving to all who knew her.

Her greatest joy was being busy helping others, especially with planning weddings, showers and parties.

Most of all, she loved doing things with her husband, and for her grandchildren, who were always the highlights of her life.

She was a member of the McVeytown Presbyterian Church.

A funeral service was to be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 2, 2024, at Grace United Methodist Church, 101 Logan St., Lewistown, with Pastor Stephani Rupert officiating. Interment was to be in Mattawana Cemetery, McVeytown.

Frederick J. Hower, 96, of Elizabethtown, formerly of East Petersburg and Mifflin, Pa., passed away on Jan. 21, 2024, at Masonic Village Elizabethtown. Fred was the son of the late Earl and Pauline (Gibbons) Hower. He was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, JoAnne (Smith) Hower, brother Donovan E. and sisters Marjorie Sneddon and Betty Kublic. Fred is survived by three sons, Barry F. (Kathy) Elizabethtown, PA, Daryl E. (Jeanne) Snellville, GA and Stephen E. (Sophia) York, PA and daughter Paula Hower Clausen (Jens) Marysville, PA; 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was a graduate of Juniata Joint High School, class of

1945.

Growing up on the family farm, he began his career as an equipment operator and mechanic for DE Smith Construction, Mifflintown, PA. Later, he was employed by various trucking companies as a driver/mechanic and everyone who knew him knew he could fix anything. Fred was a 70 year member Union lodge #324 F&AM, Mifflintown, PA. He enjoyed Hunting, Penn State football, and Phillies baseball, and was extremely proud of having one of the best lawns in East Petersburg.

At Fred’s request, services were to be private and held at the convenience of the family.

Wilbur worked at Standard Steel and Empire Kosher, where he retired.

He loved his dog Smoke. He enjoyed going to auctions and going to camp with his brothers and nephews.

William “Billy” Delbert Harbst Jr., 66, formerly of Lewistown, and of Charleston, S.C., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024, at his home.

Born April 24, 1957, in Lewistown, he was a son of William Delbert Harbst, Sr. and Donna Virginia Harbst Griffith, who survive.

William was preceded in death by his wife, Debra A. (Padgett) Harbst, and a brother, Jefferey S. Harbst.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by: children, Ronnie W. Weaver and Amy N. Carter, both of Charleston, S.C.; grandchildren, Taylor R. Harbst Pineiro and Brandon A. Carter; great-grandson, Javier Luis Pineiro; and siblings, Robert B. Harbst, of McClure, Sherri L. Sanders, of New Columbia, and Christopher T. Harbst, of Granville.

He was a Chief Logan high school graduate, Class of 1975, and a U.S. Navy veteran, who served from 1975 to 1979.

Billy was employed as an industrial mechanic by Detyens Shipyard in Charleston, S.C.

He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends, boating, fishing, reading, and cooking.

Ronald Joseph Julian, 70, passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on Jan. 24, 2024, after battling brain cancer.

Ronald was born Aug. 30, 1953, in Apollo, Pa. In 1978, he married Lou Ann Milliken in Indiana, Pa. at Grace United Methodist Church. They were blessed with 45 years of marriage before his passing. He met Lou Ann at Indiana University of Pennsylvania while earning his master’s degree. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Spanish education at Edinboro State College. He taught high school Spanish at Susquenita School District, retiring in 2010 after 35 years of service.

Ronald was a member of the Derry Presbyterian Church in Hershey. He enjoyed spending time at the Leader Center for Active Life, and was an avid fan of Pittsburgh sports. Most of all, he was a devoted husband and loving father with three children and six

grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Lou Ann; his children Marianne (Jason) Gamble of Lebanon, Pa., David (Jeanine) Julian of Gibsonia, Pa., and Timothy (Candace) Julian of Hummelstown, Pa.; grandchildren, Samuel, 14, Giovanna, 13, Daniella, 11, Molly, 10, Benjamin, 5 and Aurora, 3. He is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Aurora Julian.

Paula Jean Dressler ‘Jinka’

Paula Jean Dressler “Jinka”, 51, lost her battle with lung cancer on the evening of Dec. 23. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at Danville hospital. Jinka was born on May 12, 1972, in Lewistown, the daughter of Lois “Susie” Harpster (Hockenberry) and the late Michael J Kessler.

Jinka lived a vibrant life. She had a fearless spirit, unwavering friendship and deep love for family and children. She also had a dedication to hard work, a passion for riding her Harley, and she loved to dance. She was able to visit some far away bucket list places such as Costa Rica, Hawaii, and Florida beaches; and some at home special places both on the river and relaxing at Beebs. Jinka had a unique blend of strength and joy that defined her journey through life and she touched many souls while she was here.

Jinka was married to

Scott “Ox” Paden, father of Erica Paden; Shane Swartz, father of Kalista Inch; and Jared Dressler, father of Malena Dressler.

Jinka was preceded in death by her grand parents, Charles C Hockenberry and Beatrice Winifred Hockenberry, her first husband, Scott “Ox” Paden, her second husband, Shane Swartz, and her daughter, Erica Paden.

Jinka is survived by her mother, Lois “Susie” Harpster(Hockenberry), her sisters, Pamela McPhatter and Susan Imes, her daughters, Kalista Inch and Malena Dressler, and her granddaughter Leila Inch.

A celebration of life was to be held on Friday, Jan 12 at 6 p.m. at Bunkertown Brethern Church in McAlisterville, Pa.

Barbara Bock Jones, 72, of Reedsville, passed away at 7:55 p.m., at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.

Born Dec. 6, 1951, in Waynesburg, she was a daughter of the late Cyril and Mildred (Jones) Bock.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David S. Jones; brother, Michael Bock; sister, Pamela Bock; and sister-in-law, Nola Hartsock.

Barbara is survived by: children, Abraham David Jones and wife, Michelle, of Lewistown, and Phoebe Jones, of Reedsville; brother, Barry Bock, of Columbus, O.H.; nephews, Hunter Bock and Carl Hartsock; nieces, Jenifer Ellenberg, Leslie Homer and husband, John, and April Patton and husband, Michael; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was a graduate of

Mapletown High School, Class of 1969, and California State University in 1973, where she earned her teaching degree.

Barbara taught 9th grade English at Chief Logan High School, later known as Indian Valley High School, for 35 years.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Lewistown, where she served as church secretary for many years. She was a long time member of the Women’s Service Club and Habitat for Humanity, and a member of a local book club for several years.

Barbara loved spending time with her family and friends and loved children.

Viewings were to be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 North Main Street, Lewistown.

Marlene K. Johnson, 72 of Lewistown, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, Jan. 1, 2024, at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Helen E. (Carl) and Charles C. Longwell, Sr.

Marlene was married to her loving husband, the

late Sherman C. Johnson, Sr. on Aug. 5, 1972, who passed away on Feb. 14, 2022.

Marlene is survived by her son, Sherman C. Johnson, Jr. and wife, Melissa (Shawver) of McVeytown; grandchildren, Trey D. Johnson, Landon M. Johnson, Courtney Casner, Amy Casner, and Jennifer Casner; great granddaughter, Kinsley Berrier; sisterin-law, Bonnie K. (Kelley) Longwell; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Edward and Darlene (Johnson) Knepp and James and Sue (Johnson) Murri, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers, Charles C. In her free time, Marlene enjoyed crafting, painting, playing games, puzzles and spending time with her family and friends.

Ruth was a Christian, who loved to cook, sew, and make crafts. She also loved gardening and tending to her flower beds.

Savilla Nancy (Kanagy) King

Savilla Nancy (Kanagy) King, left her well worn body on Monday, Jan. 15, 2024, after nearly 96 years. Born March 2, 1928, to Pius and Mary (Yoder) Kanagy, she was the last of her immediate family including six brothers, David, Attrentis, Paul, Chester, Pius Jr, and Titus.

Heidi of Belleville, Savilla Peachey and husband, Lowell of Allensville, and Emily King of Allensville; 26 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Orpha King and Kathy Kanagy, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Savilla’s service to God was faithful, selfless with seemingly untiring devotion to her husband and family, which included caring for her precious daughter, Emily, until the age of 91. Her outside service included Sunday School teacher, sewing circle, community choir, Ladies Octet and deaconess for Maple Grove Mennonite Church.

Festival in Reedsville and participated in workshops to teach children to play instruments. He also enjoyed fixing cars and getting together with family and friends.

Savilla enjoyed flower gardening, canning, quilting, sewing, crocheting, feeding and watching the birds, doing puzzles, and baking. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and gained much comfort form quoting scripture at night.

Although it is hard to say goodbye, we are confident and comforted that she is safely harbored in Christ.

Bridget Kipp

Carolann Bridget Kipp, 60, of Decatur Township, Mifflin County, and formerly of Dickson City, passed away Thursday, Jan 25, 2024, at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.

Born Aug. 27, 1963, at Mid Valley Hospital in Lackawanna County, she was the daughter of Robert and Ann L. Zlotnicki-Kipp.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, David Kipp.

Carolann is survived by: her longtime compan-

ion, Thomas F. Connors, of Decatur Township; brother, Robert Kipp; nephews, James and Jason Kipp; niece, Jackqulyin Kipp; eight great-nieces and great-nephews; and Tom’s extended family.

Carolann was a dedicated registered respiratory therapist who worked for over 25 years in hospitals located in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Staten Island, N.Y. Carolann had a great love of animals, caring for many pets over the years.

1959, in Huntingdon, to Rufus and Mary L. (Peachey) Yoder who preceded her in death. On Nov. 28, 1985, she married James W. Lewis, who survives. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Chester Yoder.

Lewis and wife Amber of Lewistown; eight grandchildren, Reid Williams, Rachel Lewis, Adam Lewis, Hannah Lewis, Jeremiah Lewis, Easton Wilson, Kamdyn Lewis, and Asher Lewis; brothers and sisters, Anna Mary Shirer and husband James of Martinsburg, Louise Brown and husband Paul of Mill Creek, twin sister Joan Beck and husband Kenneth of Allensville. She was a 1977 graduate of Kishacoquillas

High School and attended Lancaster Bible College. She was primarily a homemaker. She had spent some time in France on a mission trip. She attended Locust Grove Mennonite Church.

Her hobbies included crocheting, doing crafts, sewing, painting, and color-by-number books.

A celebration of life service was to be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, at the Locust Grove Mennonite Church with Neil Renno officiating. A luncheon was to follow the service in the social hall. The burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Constance “Connie” M. Lilley, 91, of Middletown, died Dec. 30, 2023, at The Middletown Home.

Born Jan. 28, 1932, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Walter A. Lilley and Elma E. (Bailey) Mitchell.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Iona Cleff. Connie is survived by: son, Robert L. Lilley, of York; two granddaughters, Krista Freedman (Seth), and Carrie Pryor (Brent); four great-grandchildren, Nathan, Jonah, Alana and Ben; niece, Linda Koslap (Michael); and great-nephews, Michael and Zachary. She was a graduate of Lewistown High School, Class of 1949. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Lewistown and she also attended Bright Hope Fellowship in Middletown.

in various secretarial and administrative positions, retiring as a clerical supervisor from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of the Auditor General.

Timothy C. Longwell, 61, of Huntingdon, passed away on Monday, Jan. 15, 2024 at Penn Highlands Hospital in DuBois.

Born March 24, 1962, in Huntingdon, he was the son of the late William Longwell Sr. and Shirley (Bowman) Longwell, who survives.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by; siblings, William Longwell and wife, Kimbra, of Lewistown, Tonya Hancock and husband, Dave, of

McVeytown, Trina Figard, of Mill Creek; nieces and nephews, Brittany M. Longwell, Brandi Franks, William T. Longwell, Lisa Stoner, Mikayla Runk, Kimberly Stoner, Nicole Figard, J.T. Figard, Jessica Shade; great-niece, Katlynne Dupert; great-nephews, Bryce and Devan Franks; a great-great-niece and a great-great nephew.

He was a member of God’s Missionary Church.

Timothy was a graduate of Mount Union High School.

He was an avid fan of Penn State. He liked to watch WWE wrestling and loved to be with his family especially at family gatherings.

Richard (Richie, Rich) Miller, 63, passed away at his home on Dec. 27, 2023.

Born on June 11, 1960 in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Richard Miller and Wanda (Palm) Miller who survives. He is also survived by sons; Ryan Miller (Amanda) and Matthew Miller (Hope) both of Mifflintown; siblings Sonya Hooper (Mike) of Clermont, Fla. and Doug Stimely (Kim) of Lewistown; grandchildren Landon, Cecilia, Reed and Claire.

He retired from Standard Steel in Burnham. Richie was a huge fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State Nittany Lions and he loved hunting and fishing. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and loved him. His stories of the past will allow his memory to live on.

Donald A. Mills, 87, of Lewistown, formerly of Strodes Mills, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2024, at Embassy of Hearthside, State College.

Born April 13, 1936, in Shade Gap. He was the son of the late Wilbur and Arlene (Clark) Mills. He was united in marriage to the former Bonnie Locke in June of 1958. Mrs. Mills survives in Lewistown.

Pete was a Lewistown High School graduate, Class of 1968, and he received his associate’s degree from Williamsport Area Community College.

Mr. Mills loved nature and the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed old trucks, horses, cats and spending time at the family camp.

Funeral services were to be held Thursday, Jan. 18, 2024, at Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, 565 Ridgley St., Orbisonia, Pa. with Pastor Steve Swigart officiating. Interment was to be made at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Shade Gap, Pa. Friends and family was invited to call at the funeral home one hour prior to service on Thursday.

He enjoyed being outdoors going hunting and fishing. He had a gift for woodworking and making furniture. He loved his family; especially his grandchildren and enjoyed watching them perform in sports, dance and drama productions.

Miller, 81, of Lewistown, formerly of Liverpool, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024, at Greenwood Village with her loving family by her side.

Frances was born on March 27, 1942, in Mid-

Oct. 3, 1931, in Reedsville, he was the son of the late John Creighton and Bessie J. (Stuck) McNitt. On Dec. 27, 1957, at the Trinity United Church of Christ in Centre Hall, he married the love of his life, Josephine M. “Jo” Knarr, who preceded him in death in 2022.

Andy graduated from the Centre Hall-Potter High School. He enlisted with the United States Army in 1951, fought in the Korean War, and earned the rank of Sergeant prior to his honorable discharge in 1955. He then earned an associate’s degree in Tool and Die from the Williamsport Technical Institute. He worked as a machinist for HRB Singer for many years before opening the Auto Glass Centre in State College. After more than 20 successful years as a business owner and partner, he sold his interest in the company and went to

work for Locus in Boalsburg, where he worked as a machinist until his retirement.

Andy was a member of Trinity UCC in Centre Hall. He was a life member of the VFW Post 9575 and the Smith-Pletcher American Legion Post 779 in Centre Hall. He was very active with the legion, assisting in forming a Sons of American Legion Charter and holding various leadership positions throughout the years. He was instrumental in developing the little league complex at Old Fort, the A.R. McNitt Fields. He was a long time member of the White Oak Camp, Inc, where he had served as a trustee for a number of years. Andy (or Dick) was active in sports in his youth, especially baseball. He played ball in the Army and continued playing into his early 40’s. He was a sports fan, loved

watching baseball, and enjoyed following the sports in which his children and grandchildren were involved. He participated in various pool and bowling leagues and hosted a weekly card game in his garage for over 30 years.

Along with being a sports enthusiast, he was also an avid outdoorsman, enjoying time spent in the woods hunting and the occasional fishing outing. He was a true living legend, those that met him, would remember him forever. He was a character, loved telling stories and socializing. He was famous for his Monopoly games with children and grandchildren and no one in the family ever witnessed him losing. He instilled a strong work ethic in his children, focusing on integrity and an honest effort. He often would side with the underdog, recognizing their struggles and efforts, and

admiring them for it. He will be loved and missed for generations to come.

Andy is survived by his son, Andrew S. “Andy” McNitt and his wife, Teresa, of Centre Hall; his daughter, Barbara J. McNitt and her husband, Stephen Peters, Jr, of Centre Hall; six grandchildren, Alexander McNitt of Titusville, FL, Benjamin McNitt of Boiling Springs, Abigail McNitt (Dennis Speilman) of Philipsburg, Katherine McNitt of State College, Joseph McNitt (Isabel) of Madison, W.I., and Elizabeth McNitt of Lock Haven; two step grandchildren, Lydia Barlup (Nathan) of New Bloomfield and Iris Peters of Newport, Pa. and seven great grandchildren.

Along with his wife and parents, Andy was preceded in death by three siblings, William “Bill” McNitt, Anna “Annie” McNitt, and Harold McNitt.

A visitation was to be held on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Trinity United Church of Christ in Centre Hall. A memorial service to celebrate Andy’s life was to be held on Friday, Jan. 5, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Trinity UCC with Rev. David Downer officiating. A graveside was to follow at the Reformed & Lutheran Cemetery in Centre Hall with full military honors.

Frances attended the First United Methodist Church in Liverpool and was a member of the Liverpool Ambulance Company.

She cherished spending time with family. Her favorite hobbies included cooking, reading recipes, grocery shopping, and couponing.

Myrle Margaret Madtes, 91, of Reedsville, passed away at 10 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024, at her home. Born July 1, 1932, in Andreas, Schuylkill County, she was a daughter of the late Clair and Verna (Gilbert) Messerschmidt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Paul Clayton Madtes Sr.

son of Roscoe, Sr. and Elva (O’Dell) Mitchem. Preceding him in death were an infant daughter, his parents, and five siblings. His wife, Nancy, whom he married on April 2, 1961, also preceded him in death in 2017.

Surviving are three children; Russell Mitchem (wife Gloria), Rachel Mitchem Jones (husband David), and Audrey Mitchem Garner (husband Curt): six grandchildren; Kristen Mitchem and Katelyn Byers (husband Owen), Bethany Jones Yoder (husband John) and Nathanael Jones (fiancÈ Jourdan Wehry), and Andrew and Paige Garner along with eight great-grandchildren.

Mitch attended Herndon High School (WV) and served in the US Marine Corps from 1957 – 1963. He had an interesting and fulfilling career beginning in 1961 with White Westinghouse in Baltimore, MD. When offered an opportunity to relocate to southwestern VA in 1972 he gladly accepted. Mitch worked as an x-ray field service engineer in southwest Virginia until he retired in 1999. He will always be remembered for his steadfast devotion to family. He will be sadly missed, but the family looks forward with joy to being reunited with him in heaven one day.

Army from October 1951 – September 1953. For 39 ¢ years, he worked for Letterkenny Army Depot prior to his retirement in 1989. He was a devout member of Singers Gap United Methodist for many years and served as a Godly example.

His hobbies included hunting and fishing, especially with his grandchildren and sons, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

late Robert Roy Moist Sr. and Irene (Kauffman) Moist, and a stepson of the late George Goss. His wife, Roberta L. “Bobbi” (Royer) Moist, whom he married June 1, 1982, preceded him in death on Feb. 14, 2018.

He is survived by his three daughters, Melissa Goss and husband, David, Amy Bailey and husband, Michael, Nevada Hostetler, all of McVeytown; five grandchildren, Jessica Chappell and husband, Jordan, Zachary Goss, Emily Karn, Dylan Goss, Hunter Bailey; two great grandchildren, Mavrik and Harper Chappell; brother Robert Roy Moist Jr. of Gettysburg; and sister Barbara Kulp of Juniper, Fla.

Peggy L. Moore, 89, of 20 Green Lane, Belleville, died on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. She was born on Dec. 5, 1934, in Burnham, a daughter of the late Lester Fern and Jennie Marie (Smith) Kline. Her loving husband of 68 years, Pastor George C. Moore, whom she married on Dec. 18, 1955, survives at home.

She was preceded in

He worked as a painter at J-Wood in Milroy, Village Kitchens in Milroy, and lastly at KRT Cabinets until his retirement.

He was a member of the Blue Rock Sportsman Club, Milroy, and the Shrader United Methodist Church.

He graduated from Kishacoquillas High School in 1960, where he loved participating in track and field events while in school. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, hunting, fishing and also teaching his kids to hunt and fish. He was

death by four brothers: Donald H. Kline, Charles E. Kline, Kenneth R. Kline, Robert E. Kline and two sisters: Phyllis M. Freed and B. Ann Henry; brotherin-law, William W. Moore and sister-in-law: Mary E. Miller. She was the last of her immediate family.

Along with her husband, she is survived by brothers and sisters-inlaw: Paul M. Moore, Betty M. Kline, Robert E. Moore, James F. Moore, Ronald L. Moore and wife, Svetlana. She attended the Reedsville High School, worked at Sankey’s Drug Store for a number of years. Following that, worked as a bookkeeper for her husband’s excavation and garage business for over 50 years. She was primarily a homemaker.

She was a Children’s Sunday school teacher at the CMA in Reedsville and Centre Union Church, where her husband preached. She and her husband attended Barrville Mennonite Church.

She was a very loving and caring person. She enjoyed doing puzzles, word search puzzles, she collected Longaberger baskets. She was a born again Christian by faith.

A funeral service was to be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024, at the Barrville Mennonite Church, 48 Barrville Mountain Road, Reedsville, PA, with Pastor Carl Geissinger officiating. Family was to receive friends from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be at the Church Hill Cemetery.

Pete Milligan

Sr.

Pete Milligan Sr., 71, of Lewistown, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024, at Greenwood Village.

Born April 7, 1952, in Camden, New Jersey, he was a son of the late Thomas and Dorothy (Pratz) Milligan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Butch and Bob Milligan, and a sister, June Weinberg.

Patricia ‘Pat’ A. Mowry

Patricia “Pat” A. Mowry, 76, of Lewistown, passed away Monday, Jan. 22, 2024, at Greenwood Village.

Born June 21, 1947, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Margaret Ruth Sellers.

She will be missed by Patsy “Pat” Shores and Starr Reichenbach, who she claimed as her stepsisters, and Kacie Young, whom she claimed as her granddaughter.

Patricia was employed at the Arrow Shirt Factory

his former wife, Belinda Norman, with whom he remained close; children, Barbara Parson, Pete Milligan Jr., and Christina Milligan, all of Lewistown; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; siblings, Charlie Milligan and wife, Debbie, of Tenn., Dottie Geroe and husband, Ed, and Janie Milligan, both of N.J.; and best friends, Jimmy Wray and Aaron Cox.

Pete was self-employed, specializing in automotive body work and fender restoration.

He loved fixing up cars, listening to old time country music, his dogs, and his bird, Zoey. Pete especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and was a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and Donald Trump.

A viewing was to be held from 4 to 6 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2024, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 North Main Street, Lewistown, followed by the funeral service at 6 p.m., with Rev. OBeverly J. Oberlin

Beverly J. Oberlin, 82, formerly of Thompsontown, passed away on Friday, Jan. 5, 2024, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.

Born on March 20, 1941, in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, she is a daughter of Harry L. and Dorothy M. (Eslinger) Powell who preceded her in death.

On June 28, 1964, she married Ray F. Oberlin, with whom she was blessed to share more than 58 years of marriage before his passing on Feb. 13, 2023.

She is survived by one son, Michael Oberlin and his wife Trudy of McAlisterville; one daughter, Tammy A. Spangler and her husband Bob of Thompsontown; six grandchildren, Shane Spangler and his wife Brenda, Shelley Cornett, Robert Ray Spangler and his wife Christina, Christopher Henry and his wife Nancy, Curtis Henry and his wife Allie, and Cody Henry and his companion Brooke King; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert L. Powell and his wife Sandy and John H. Powell and his wife Terri, all of Linglestown; two sistersin-law, Pearl Swartz and Barbara King and her husband George, all of Mifflintown; and many generations of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Oberlin began her career as a study hall monitor at the Tuscarora Junior High School in Mifflintown and then became the secretary for Juniata High School in Mifflintown where she retired.

Beverly was a member of Free Spring Church of the Brethren in Mifflintown where she formerly served as a Sunday School Teacher and was the church’s organist. She also was a former member of Cedar Grove Brethren in Christ Church in Mif-

flintown where she also played the organ and piano.

She enjoyed traveling, especially on family vacations to Canada, serving, along with her husband, on several disaster relief trips and playing the organ and piano where she had played for many years for weddings and funerals.

Memorial services were to be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2023 at Free Spring Church of the Brethren, 670 Free Spring Church Road, Mifflintown, with Pastor Terry Smith officiating. Interment was to be private at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Mifflintown.

A visitation was to be held from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the memorial services at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 9, at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mrs. Oberlin’s memory can be made to her church, Free Spring Church of the Brethren, 670 Free Spring Church Road, Mifflintown, PA 17059.

PFrederick M. Parks

Frederick M. Parks, 81, of Mifflintown died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2024, at his home.

Born March 16, 1942, in Granville Township, Mifflin County, he was a son of Glen W. and Paulena E. (Van Ormer) Parks who preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Donna (Wyland) Parks, one son, Roger L. Parks and wife, Kit, of Mifflintown, two grandsons, Judd and Shade, two great- grandchildren, Sawyer and Lillian, and two sisters, Linda Woods of Lewistown and Grace Darling of Louisiana.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Edgar Parks and three sisters, Gladys Parks, Eileen Bardell, and Eurifay Shawver. There is no service scheduled at this time.
