The Lexington Philharmonic’s 2016-17 season is built on the collaborative and aspirational force of the human spirit, one that inspires reflection, ecstasy and intensity. Our season is highlighted by new voices and hallmark works: Tchaikovsky’s rousing Symphony No. 5, the brooding darkness in Sibelius Symphony No. 1, the frightening voice of Shostakovich’s Chamber
Symphony, sultry sounds from Bizet’s Carmen, and the virtuosity of Bartok’s Concerto for Orchestra. Major stars of the international stage including Conrad Tao, Tessa Lark, and baritone Jarrett Ott bring their extraordinary talents to bear. A major highlight of the season is the profound oratorio, To Be Certain of the Dawn by multiple Grammywinning American Composer, Stephen Paulus. This evening will unite Kentucky Opera, and regional choral forces in a magnum opus that speaks for voices silenced by war. These are a few of the highlights from this inspired season of compelling music; be sure you are the FIRST to join us!
