78th IB Commander Lt. Col. Jose Allan Taguba
ALBUERA, Leyte --- Almost the entire force of 78th Infantry Battalion is now detailed here to further secure the peaceful conduct of the election. This was disclosed by Lt. Col Jose Allan Taguba, the Commander of the said battalion who helped installed the Charlie Company along Sitio Tinago, Brgy. Benolho last week. Col. Taguba clarified that their presence does not mean that the town is under Comelec control, but it is means that the town is placed under “immediate Area of Concern.” He
added that such description to the town was based on many reports of sightings of armed men in some upland barangays and because of the incident when a political leader was shot dead then followed by the throwing of grenade to a vehicle of one candidate. He also explained that their presence is also part of their mandate which is to provide securities to their jurisdiction in part of Leyte and Southern Leyte. Col Taguba also stressed that there is nothing to fear of because they are just doing their jobs. Earlier in January, the Municipal Peace and Order Council of Albuera has approved a resolution asking the Comelec to place the entire town under their control. This came after numerous complaints from residents about harassment from armed men suspected to be associated with a local candidate. Adding more contexts to the resolution was the destruction of the CCTV installed by the Local Government Unit in Brgy. Benolho. It was reportedly destroyed by unidentified persons several hours after it was installed. RCD

Congresswoman Leni Robredo admitted that she “accepted the Liberal Party’s vice presidential nomination because I was assured by President Aquino that Mar Roxas and myself will win as a tandem — as president and vice president, respectively.” That was a very confident promise made by President Aquino. But how about if his bets will not win? And how about if Duterte wins as President and Robredo wins the Vice Presidency? Can she work well with Duterte? The answer is no. The congresswoman again, admitted, “Duterte and I are the exact opposites and I don’t see working with him even remotely possible.” Then she said if that happens, she would resign from her post on the first day in office. The question is why? Is it because of the fear that Duterte might pressure her? The answer i s simple. There would be no good working atmosphere not because she doesn’t want Duterte but because she will be pressured and will be forced by his political comrades to destroy the President for the purpose of taking over. Just like what happened to Erap when Gloria was programmed to take over the presidency. Then what happened if Robredo immediately leaves her post? Of course, the position of the Vice President would be vacant. After that, there will be a deliberation for the Senate President to take over. And if the Senate President will decline to take the opportunity, the Speaker of the House of Representatives can take over the post. It is clear that, not the Vice Presidential candidate who garnered the second most number of votes can take over the post vacated by Robredo, not even Bongbong Marcos, if he gains the second number of votes. However, Marcos, who still an incumbent senator, must become the Senate President in order for him to take over.

Trillanes is inventor of the week say PDP-Laban “We won’t be surprised if next week, Mayor Duterte will be accused of hiding trillions of pesos," PDP-Laban spokesperson Atty. Paola Alvarez said regarding the accusations hurled by Senator Antonio Trillanes IV against her political party’s presidential bet, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo “Rody” Duterte. “This is getting ridiculous by the day. Two days ago, Sen. Trillanes accused Mayor Duterte of having an undeclared P211 Million bank account. Today, he said the mayor’s accounts had P2.4 Billion worth of transactions. What’s next, Mayor Duterte is behind the $81 Million Bangladeshi bank heist? This is already the height of absurdity," Alvarez said. "Sen. Trillanes should be voted 'inventor of the week'. He is becoming more of an inventor than a senator,” Alvarez added, reiterating the challenge made by Duterte for Trillanes to sign an affidavit before the tough-talking mayor opens his bank accounts. “We call on Sen. Trillanes to execute an affidavit and reveal where and when he got his information and why he released it. Mayor Duterte already committed to open his bank accounts as long as Sen. Trillanes signs an affidavit. It’s now in his hands. If the senator is confident of his information, he wouldn’t mind signing his name to a legal document to back up his
claim,” Alvarez said. Alvarez also slammed the rivals of Mayor Duterte, whom she said have found it fashionable nowadays to sign bank waivers. “When Mayor Duterte and Senator Alan Peter Cayetano signed a bank waiver and challenged their rivals to do the same, no single candidate heeded their call. Now that Mayor Duterte is leading the presidential election and is on the brink of victory, they not only joined Sen. Trillanes’ ridiculous accusations, they are now signing bank waivers left and right. It is downright hypocritical,” she said. Alvarez asked Duterte’s supporters not to be distracted from making the Duterte-Cayetano win in the election and achieving real change. She said that in the coming days leading to the elections, her group expects more accusations will be thrown against their standard-bearer. "As the enemies of change become more desperate, we expect the attacks to become more vicious. We are also afraid that this will be a prelude to a possible massive election cheating. Thus, we call on the supporters of the Duterte-Cayetano tandem and the general public to exercise extreme vigilance amid the confusion and lies being peddled by groups with the intention to deprive the people of their rightful choice this coming election," Alvarez concluded.
