He was proclaimed winner by the Board of Canvassers dawn of the day after the election after garnering 53,234 votes against Codilla, who got 44,453 votes. Gomez ran for mayor in 2013 but lost to Codilla by 3,000 votes. This time, he defeated Codilla. He ran under the National People’s Coalition (NPC) and was endorsed by presidential frontrunner Davao Mayor Rodrigo Duterte. Meanwhile, his wife ran under the Liberal Party. the families’ budget, especially now that enrollment of classes is fast approaching”, Lt. Col. Sarmiento said. Parents took the opportunity of bringing their sons to avail of the free circumcision than paying at least P600 circumcision charge in some private clinics. On the other hand, Public Health Nurse Joseph Oliverio said that Kananga Rural Health Unit has already circumcised around 700 young boys since March this year. He furthered that residents of Kananga may still avail of free circumcision at the Rural Health Unit from Monday to Friday, 1:00 to 5:00 o’clock in the afternoon. RCD

Millions, plus an alleged high-tech cheating equals Mayor Goma ?

ORMOC CITY --- The reign of the Codillas ends. Gomez era starts. Codilla’s reign in more than 21 years is now cut off by showbiz world plus an alleged high-teach cheating through vote-buying. ID system was a great idea for the Gomez camp. Many observers say it was not actually by people’s choice that brought Gomez to power but by the amount of money used to buy votes. Gomez’s price was P500 higher in all barangays. Gomez camp gave away P2,000 for Codilla’s P1,500 and P1,500 for Codilla’s P1,000. Most of the Codilla’s leaders reportedly went to the coordinators of Gomez after learning that the opposing

camp was giving away a bigger amount of money. He said he changed allegiance after receiving the bigger amount of money. Some Codilla loyalists, a random interview explained that Codilla camp should have given the money earlier and must not have given false promises. They said they were made to believe that they would receive as much as P3,000 per vote. “Mao gihapon ni ila gihimo

niadtong 2013 election maayo gani midaug pa si Ondo.” One barangay chairman stressed, in an interview. He said they expected that the situation will not be repeated but it happened again. He added that because of this, Gomez’s victory was made inevitable. It was also observed that Gomez camp was a better internet wizard. The cellular number of Congressional Candidate Engr. Violeta TrangiaCodilla and businessman man Engr. Lorenzo Baltonado Jr., were even also hacked. See for that instance when an alleged text message from the cellular phone number of Baltonado told receivers to go to Sutuwaki Restaurant along the old Executive Building

for free dinner. Hundreds of Codilla supporters flocked to the restaurant only to learn that it was a hoax adding more discouragement to their camp. In the evening the cellular phone number of Violy Codilla was also hacked texting their leaders a surrender tone because they lacked the money to fight with the Gomezes. During Election Day, the cellular phone number of Mayor Edward C. Codilla was hacked also sending surrender text messages to their leaders and supporters. After that experience, many see it as the end for Codillas’ political career. Added to that, sad to know that most of the voters in this part of the country sell their votes. (MValenciano)

Senate Majority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano on the result of the VP race It is often said that the voice of the people is the voice of God. In this regard, I humbly concede my vice presidential bid to Rep. Leni Robredo, who, by all accounts and with 96% of the votes already tallied, is our country's presumptive Vice President-elect. Rep. Leni is not

only leading the race, she has clearly won it. While losing an election hurts, nothing is more painful than the sight of a divided country. Thus, I call on all the other candidates to respect the people's will and rally behind presumptive Presidentelect Rodrigo "Rody" Duterte and

his presumptive Vice Presidentelect Leni Robredo. Let us begin the journey toward healing and unification. I am confident that Vice President-elect Leni will likewise respect and value the people's will by giving her full support to the country's new President and his

SECURING THE PEACE. Police and MIlitrary officers are monitoring the issuance of election paraphernalia at the city hall to ensure the security of the BEI's

vision to end the disorder in the people's lives and introduce real change to our country. I call on the people to rally behind our newly elected leaders. It is in this crucial hour that our voice is needed the most. Let us work together and let the process of real change begin. PR

IT is nice to talk about ‘first time’ in the history. First time events are phenomenal and are always part of the records. Speaking of first time, the victory of Toronto Raptors against championship team Miami Heat is extra special because it will be a memorable one not only for the fans but for the franchise as well. It was a hard one because the win was via Game 7. Now the Raptors will be facing the Cavaliers under the leadership of Lebron James in the Eastern Conference Championship. If the team wins, it will be another first time in the history to clinch an NBA Finals berth. More fans will be loving it although Cleveland fans will be mourning. If they beat the depending champs Warriors, the victory will be an extra-ordinary one. And, another first time event that took place just recently, will be always part of the history. It happened in this country when a simple but stern c i t y mayor f r o m t h e south won the Presidency. Davao Mayor Rodrigo Duterte’s convincing win against his political opponents in the presidential race was a phenomenal one. Political analysts agreed with each other that the victory was a ‘destiny’ for the mayor. It was a first time in the history to see a majority win. Many would admit that they do not know the reason why they really voted for Duterte. They said they just love the mayor and highly appreciated the accomplishments of the mayor. For them, it is now the right time to make a change. Change in everything. Change in leadership, change in the type of government, change in the principle of governing people, change in attitude toward law enforcement, change in dealing with criminals and most of all, change in government transactions.
