No more extension of Comelec registration

City Election Officer Atty. Ramon Dadula Jr in an interview disclosed that as far as his office is concerned, there is no extension order of registration coming from the national office yet. That’s why he said they could not do less but to end the registration at 5:00 in the afternoon of July 31st. Dadula said that his office can register only about between 400-500 new voters a day and with the number of registrants lining up outside their office he believed not all of them can be registered. “Wala na tayong magawa, ngunit titigil kami at 5:00 pm” “We cannot do anymore but we have to stop at 5:00 pm.” He Stressed. Dadula that one thing only few can

register is the fact that the registration for new electors was only done in 15 days. But he said it was the first time that he encountered a big volume of registrants per day compared to last year’s registrations where only few people came to their office to register and only came in huge when the deadline is coming. He added that maybe because the registration was only done in 15 days since July 15 that’s why many new voters and biometrics applicants came to their office daily. Dadula on the other hand disclosed that under the New Sangguniang Kakabataan Reform Act ages any person ages 15-30 can vote for the Sangguniang Kabataan. He continued

First diversion road in Biliran to be constructed NAVAL, Biliran – The Biliran Diversion Road Project, which is actually the first in the province, was originally proposed by the previous Acting Chief of Planning & Design Section, Engr. Reynaldo P. Peñaflor who himself lives in Biliran, Biliran. Being a native of the said Municipality, he knows the problems encountered by the traveling along the National Road traversing within Biliran proper. Having besieged by traffic problems, the Sangguniang Bayan of the Municipality of Biliran together with their former Mayor, Hon. Leandro B. Enage unanimously passed a resolution for the Construction of Diversion Road in the Municipality of Biliran in order to relieve traffic congestion and to fast track the development of the area. The said resolution was forwarded to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Biliran Province for their consideration. The said resolution was unanimously approved by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Biliran Province. In their letter dated June, 2013 signed by Enage, the Department of Public Works and Highways-Biliran District Engineering Office (DEO) was requested to conduct Preliminary & Detailed Engineering activities in order to determine the viability of the project, its cost and possible funding. After survey works, it was determined that the proposed road will traverse a rice

But he said with the pronouncement of the president we expect to receive a detailed instructions coming from our higher headquarters in due time. Mendoza emphasized that it is everybody’s desire to put an end into this problem of insurgency to bring about just and lasting peace. He said that they welcome all initiatives just to make sure that a just and lasting peace will be attained. It start at the junction of LeyteBiliran Road (S0001BR) and Biliran Circumferential Road (S00002BR and S00010BR)) and ends at another point along Biliran Circumferential Road going to Naval, the capital town of Biliran Province. The population to be served by the road project ranges from 90,000 to 135,000 with average income of P10,000.00 to P30,000.00 per month. After all the required documents were submitted to DPWH Head Office, the proposed project was finally considered under the FY 2016 GAA. At present, the project is now on-going with one problem with a landowner who wanted to be paid with higher land value outside the zonal valuation or market value of the Province. The completion of the project will decongest the currently utilized National Road which is within the Municipality of Biliran. In addition, the future change in transport condition will lure tourist to visit Tourist sites in Biliran Province which is endowed with natural tourist attractions. Further, commercial activity not only in the Municipality of Biliran but in Biliran Province as a whole, like establishment of new shops and other income generating enterprise. Indeed, Biliran DEO is fortunate to be allotted with funds for Biliran Diversion Road, the first in the Province. RCD

One of the conditions that Col Mendoza made mention during ceasefire is that they would not sacrifice the security of the people and the community. He said that they will still conduct the regular contours and insure that the rebel armed groups will not do any harm to the people in the community. Mendoza stressed that these are just some of the details that he wanted to know what they are going to do about it if a bilateral ceasefire will be agreed. Mendoza believed that the whole Armed Forces of the Philippine particularly the Philippine Army would welcome this initiative for unilateral ceasefire if this will be the solution that they’re looking for to finally put an end to the insurgency problem. 19th Infantry Battalion Commander Lt. Man, 2 women shot dead near Tacloban Airport TACLOBAN CITY --- A man and two women were shot dead early Friday dawn near the Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport, this city. This was the place where Pope Francis officiated a mass during his visit in this city last year. The killing was believed to be a drug-related one. The victims were identified by Tacloban police chief P/SSupt Rolando Bade as certain Jason Boclotan, a resident of Anibong District, this city, Rowena Rosales and Che Che Mantile and as of the presstime, police is still trying to determine the residence of these women. The victims, all shot several times, were found about 6:00 o’clock in the morning, and the man was found few meters from a Toyota Corolla sedan with the Plate No. UCG-607, while the women were inside the vehicle. Investigators recovered 16 empty .45 caliber shells at the scene. Bade said the car had been

seen at the city police lockup facility, most likely during a visit to an inmate. All three had placards saying “Pusher ako, Lord patawad (I am a pusher, Lord forgive me)” attached on their bodies. Police said that a team of investigators, including SOCO personnel immediately proceeded to the area seconds after the reported was received. A witness living near the area said he heard around 10 gunshots between 4 to 5 a.m. and when he went outside his home to check, saw people riding three motorcycles. In fear, he said he ran towards downtown Tacloban. A day before Friday's killings, a body was also found in Barangay Caibaan Thursday, the victim sporting a placard similar to that placed on the three bodies near the airport. Such summary killings, with the victims tagged as pushers or addicts, have been on the rise since the Duterte government declared a "war" on drugs. RCD

Opinyon

July 25-31, 2016

Filipinos seem to be pathetic Filipinos love Duterte. That is for sure. Millions voted for him for a reason. The main reason is, that they believe that Duterte is the man. And that he is the answer of every problem in this country of illegal drugs, corruption and injustice. Duterte was forced to run and seek the presidency because of the people’s insistence. He knew that President’s job is tough and many would not like it if he wins. People also knew that the former mayor had a different style of leadership. A leadership that was unconventional. But, millions just voted for him because they believe that he can do some changes, at least for good of this country. Duterte’s platform of government is laid on Federalism. That is dividing

the country into several states and a parliamentary in form. A new kind of administration which might be, a total strange to many particularly to the young ones. Now that the President is pushing for the changing of the constitution, some are hesitant to agree. Others are sold to the idea of changing the constitution but they don’t favor the constitutional assembly. Which, for the President, is ideal for the country to spend less in changing the charter of the land. People are just pathetic. They know better than the President. They like the Constitutional Convention instead of Constitutional Assembly because of the fear of some compromised provisions that might take place, according to them. This might shows that not all who voted for Duterte believe in what he believes. Many of them, perhaps were just “starstrucked” by the eminence of the former Davao Mayor.

Ngano man nga moreklamo kamo? Ana man gyud kana ang kinabuhi. Walay permanente sa kalibutan. Naa gyuy kausaban.

Pero, ngano man nga inyong sampongan nga ganahan man mo ana? Kausaban. Mao kana ang atong gipangita, di ba? Kung sa kausaban apil ang pwerteng daghana nga mga “no parking along this side of the road”, agwanto mo.

Good news for businessmen and travelers, a diversion road in Palo being constructed PALO, Leyte – It is called the west bypass road in the town, now being implemented and once completed, it is expected to stir more economic activities amid the continuing growth of the town. Town Mayor Remedios “Matin” Petilla informed the media that a number of businessmen and establishments are trying to acquire properties along the new road area.

The project has an allocation in the amount of P136 million which was started on March 2 this year, and was originally conceptualized in order to provide alternative route from this town’s Arado village to Pawing village, near the border of Tacloban City. It has been observed that with the growth of commercial and business establishments along the Pawing area and the Government Center, traffic has

increased along the national highway. It was with this observation that triggered officials to push for the construction of the diversion road. With its expected completion before the end of the year, opportunity for economic development is seen. Mayor Petilla said that under their Comprehensive Land Use Plan, areas along the west bypass road can be utilized for housing development and commercial

sites for light industries. Which, according to her, would agree with the town’s dream of becoming the region’s sub-center for economic activities. Construction of a bridge was included in the project since it crosses a river. Construction is being implemented by the High Innovative Construction and Development Phils. through the Department of Public Works and Highways. ATT
