Independent Studies
Independent studies provide students opportunities to work with LFA faculty to pursue more advanced level course work, seek additional in-depth subject matter, or explore a subject not offered.
Recent independent studies courses include Applied Data Analytics, Musical Theater, Artificial Intelligence, Complex Variables, Biofuels from Plants, Filmmaking, International Relations, Kinesiology, The Evolution of Architecture.
Academic Clubs
• Computer Science Club – 2024 Illinois State Champions in Senior 5 Div of the American Computer Science League (ACSL)
• F B L A (Future Business Leaders of America) – 15 students earned a top 10 finish in the Illinois State Leadership Conference, and seven qualified for the national competition in 2024.
• Math Team – 2023 & 2024 Illinois State Champions
• Model UN – LFA has par t i cipated i n a l l 36 yea rs of Model UN
• Robotics – Competes annually in the First Robotics Competition
• Science Olympiad – 2nd place in the 2024 Illinois State Tou r nament
