Ðis vecums tika izvçlçts, jo UEFA tic, ka ðis ir ïoti nozîmîgs vecums spçlçtâju individuâlajâ attîstîbâ ceïâ uz elites lîmeni, tâpçc gaidâmâs turnîra spçles, kâ arî gatavoðanâs process pirms tâm veicinâs spçlçtâju izaugsmes procesu. Ðis turnîrs turpina 2012.gadâ uzsâkto pilotprojektu, kurð ðobrîd ir atvçrts visâm UEFA dalîbvalstîm. UEFA sveic ðî turnîra dalîbniekus Latvijâ. Kopâ ar mâjiniekiem ðajâ turnîrâ piedâlâs arî Igaunijas, Somijas un Zviedrijas U-16 zçnu un meiteòu futbola izlase, aizvadot viena apïa turnîru. Katra spçle risinâsies 2 x 40 minûtes, pârtraukums 15 minûtes. Ja spçle pamatlaikâ noslçgsies neizðíirti, uzvarçtâjkomanda tiks noteikta pçcspçles 11 metru soda sitienu sçrijâ. U16 zçnu vecuma limits: turnîra spçlçtâji dzimuði pçc 1997.gada 1.janvâra U16 meiteòu vecuma limits: turnîra spçlçtâji dzimuði laika posmâ no 1997.gada 1.janvâra lîdz 1998.gada 31.decembrim.
Overall objective and Regulations The aim of the UEFA development tournaments is to offer Under-16 national teams (U16 and WU16) an additional opportunity to play competitive matches at international level. This youth age category has been selected as UEFA believes it to be a crucial stage in a player's development pathway to elite level. Such friendly matches, as well as the preparation they require, are key to facilitating this player development process. In these tournaments, results are of secondary importance and fade into insignificance compared with the possibility that they give the players to progress, an opportunity that is also extended to referees and even referee observers. This project follows a successful pilot phase in 2012 and has now been opened to all 53 national associations of UEFA. This season's programme therefore features 13 development tournaments, the first in Portugal in February and the last in Poland in August. Each side contains 20 players and nine substitutions are allowed in each match. A UEFA technical observer attends every tournament to talk to national youth coaches about subjects relevant to this particular age group. The U16 events also have the benefit of preparing young players for the UEFA European Under-17 Championships. Given the scarcity of international friendly tournaments for women's teams in this age category, between April and June this year there will be seven development tournaments for U17 girls organised by UEFA. Both 5-day tournaments of U16 and WU16 should take place during the ten day period from 29 April to 8 May 2013. The boys tournament will take place first, and then the girls immediately after. The tournament will be organised in a round robin format, so each team will play three matches. Each match has two halves of 40 minutes each, with a half-time interval of 15 minutes in between. If the match is level at the end of normal playing time, no extra time is played. The winning team will be decided by a standard-format penalty shoot-out (five penalties each). Player eligibility U16 age limits: Players are eligible if they were born on or after 1 January 1997. WU16 age limits: Players are eligible if they were born between 1 January 1997 and 31 December 1998.
