About the organisation At LGBT Health and Wellbeing, we aim to improve the health and wellbeing of all LGTB people living in Scotland through building the strength of individuals and creating community connections. We offer advice and support throughout Scotland with our national LGBT Helpline Scotland and deliver services in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Fife. LGBT Health and Wellbeing welcomes people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT), non-binary, intersex, queer, asexual, pan, poly and people questioning their sexuality and/or gender identity. LGBT Helpline Scotland Counselling service based in Edinburgh Transgender Support services in Edinburgh and Glasgow Mental Health support in Edinburgh and Fife Befriending through our LGBT Age Project

For more information, visit our website or give us a call. Safe Space Commitment All our services and events are delivered under a Safe Space Commitment actively uphold by our staff and volunteers. A Safe Space is somewhere everyone feels welcome, respected and comfortable being who they are. This includes people who access our services, volunteers, community group leaders and staff.


How to use this programme All our social events take place in Edinburgh and Glasgow. Some of our social events are part of a specific programme strand:

LGBT Headspace Safe and creative activities to promote positive mental health and wellbeing including monthly groups: Women’s Wellbeing Events (inclusive of transgender people who primarily identify as women), Confidence Café and LGBT Space at the Royal Ed (starts 16th September). Financial help available to those where cost (including travel) is a barrier. Transgender Programme Social activities, workshops and courses for transgender, non-binary and intersex people. This includes T time, a monthly social meetup open to friends, families and supporters. How to use this programme Bookings Where we state ‘booking essential’, it is required to book your space by either registering your contact details via an online form or contacting the relevant member of staff via email or phone. Where we state ‘booking preferred’, it is helpful to know if you are planning to attend an event but you can also just turn up. Where no booking information are provided, you are welcome to just turn up.

Cost All our events and community groups are free unless otherwise stated. Financial help may be available if you can’t afford to come to a paid event. Get in touch via contact details provided for each event.

Wheelchair Accessible Both offices in Edinburgh and Glasgow have 6 steps from street level. However, we are increasingly using community venues for many aspects of our delivery and our programme now indicates which events are held in fully wheelchair accessible venues. Another year and glorious breakfast event for the whole community. It’s the place to be to start your Pride Edinburgh weekend. The LGBT Age Reference Group has expanded and is welcoming new members. The Age Reference Group is aims to make services more accessible and relevant for LGBT older people. Past activities have included providing consultation to Health & Social Care Partnerships, National Gallery of Scotland and working with Pride Edinburgh to make sure older LGBT were visible and welcomed. Coming out is a lifelong process. It can involve coming out to yourself, family, friends, partners, employers & service providers. If you would like to spend some time reflecting on how ‘out’ you are whilst exploring other reasons why you might want to stay ‘in’, we would love you to be a part of this unique 6 week course on Monday evenings. Discover new strategies to deal with your fears, meet others in similar situations and celebrate your triumphs all in a relaxed space.

LGBT Health is exploring the set-up of a new community-led support group for people are coming out later in life. This unique one-off taster event, will provide a safe, supportive and discreet space for people who feel they are coming out ‘later’ in life as LGBT+. Meet people, hear others stories and share your own if you feel comfortable. Examples of those who might find the event beneficial include people coming out after being married or in a long-term relationship or coming out after having children.

A brief but hands on exploration of this fascinating language with BSL user, Rylan Gleave. Wheelchair accessible Glasgow Women’s Library invites you to join their new project In Her Shoes. For women to speak about their experiences of hate, prejudice and targeted hostility in their local communities and public spaces. This is a trans positive and inclusive event. By sharing experiences in solidarity we will articulate the power of our own identities, creating a large-scale piece of public activist art in early 2017.
