PROJECT AIR BNB

MODERN COLONIAL LIVING: NEWPORT, RHODE ISLAND The Airbnb will be designed for the main use of a weekend getaway. The intent of this design is to combine the classical British colonial elements with a touch of modern design. The Airbnb will have the exterior of a classic British colonial, seen throughout Newport, while the interior combines traditional elements contrasted with modern elements. This home will allow residents to fully encompass and engage in the New England style living.

PROJECT GALLERY

THE DODA ART GALLERY The Doda Art Gallery, located on High Point University’s campus, is inspired by 1960’s culture and Go Go Dancer’s. The Sixties is a term used to describe the counterculture and revolution in social norms about clothing, music, and formalities. My inspiration for the name of my art gallery comes from Carol Doda, the first ever Go Go Dancer. My design relates to the term go go which was influenced by the French expression à gogo, meaning "in abundance, galore". My design showcases the apsects of the sixities culture using color, fabrics, patterns and forms.

Within our design, we had to incorporate a custom sculpture that also emits light. The concept behind this sculpture was inspired by jellyfish. Jellyfish move in such an elegant way, dancing across the sea. In the sculpture I wanted to create movement by including a fan in the light, hoping to move the hundreds of fiber optics and create a cool lighting effect in the space around it. The dome on the top, which holds the fan, is made up of tiny mirrors which cast an interesting patten on the ceiling, alomst like a disco ball.

“APPROACHES WELLBEING IN A HOLISTIC WAY, CONSIDERING NOT ONLY THE PHYSICAL NEEDS BUT ALSO THEIR COGNITIVE AND EMOTIONAL NEEDS””

DESIGN

STATEMENT The Cherry Blossom tree is a notorious symbol of Washington D.C. It can be seen throughout the city in the fresh Springtime weather. My design is metaphorically based of the movement and structure of the Cherry Blossom. Looking at the Cherry Blossom itself, the blossom is supported by and is structured by the linear, sharp edged branches. It is then contrasted with the organic shape of the blossom’s petals. Due to the structure the blossoms have from the branches, the blossoms are able to grow and flourish to their fullest ability. Within my space, I want to design a space that offers the users the structure and necessities to explore their minds, grow, and flourish. My design will present my concept metaphorically through structure, movement, line and color

PROJECT E SHOP & WORKING

T project was our first ever commeriThis ccal space. We had to create a coffeeshop th that doubled as a co - working area. We had two floors to work with so I decided h to design a small cafe with a conference room on the first floor where users can ro ggrab a drink and meet with other indiv viduals, and the decided to design a loft aarea where a more formal co - working aarea would take place. When designing this commercial space, I had to consider th ADA regulations, life safety measures, A aand cohesivity of the design.
