Our worlds and universes will be forever connected M int in the

mension, we created another point. To enter the sixth dimension, we’re going to do just that. But instead, let’s add 500 more points, and say each represent a member of our class. Now, we connect each point with a line, showing that within our lonely little points, is the influence of everyone around us, creating the world that we know, through lines that connect each other. Put everything that was in the sixth dimension, a.k.a. our world right now, as we know it, into one point. This is now the seventh dimension-one big universe with everyone we know and everything we have done. Now pay attention, because this is where the significance of this column kicks in. A single point in the seventh dimension is the world we have known thus far. But, we are now going to be entering different stages of our life, a.k.a. different universes. We are going to connect this universe with another, and in this analogy, this connects one stage of our life with another, allowing two individual universes to influence one another.
v
Now here is where it gets a little tricky. You see, we live in a three dimensional world, so this analogy has worked pretty well so far; however, our next step is the fourth dimension, something completely foreign to what we know. If you recall, in creating each dimension, we have either created either a line, or a point-so for this analogy to enter the fourth dimension, we now need to put every decision we have ever made, and will make, and encompass it within a single point. I hope that at this stage you understand what I am trying to say. Our life is one point, and we are within that point, making decisions that shape our life. Now, what if, at this stage in the analogy, we were to enter a fifth dimension? We would need to create a line, connecting the point we made to enter the fourth dimension, to another point. This other point that will connect the line can function as one of your classmates. Someone who is in a completely different point, with different decisions. However, you two are connected through a line, and you influence each other with your decisions. As we did with the third di-
v
To let you know, I’m cutting to the chase - no fluff. Something I have learned recently is everything functions through one single point. Let me break it down for you in terms of a theory that I recently have become aware of. The 10 dimension theory. First, we start off with a single point, with no definition. This is analogous with a single decision that you have made in your life. Second, we move to another point, with very similar qualities. Now, we draw a line to connect the two, so now we have two decisions connected with each other. That is how you create two dimensions, you connect two pointsthere is no depth, just a line. Now, let’s add another point, but this time, it adds another plane of existence. This will represent more than one decision we have made. Let’s examine where we are. We have multiple decisions we have made, shaping our life that we have. We have now entered the third dimension, where multiple decisions have shaped a three dimensional life at that time, where we see different angles and repercussions for what we have done.

The ninth dimension is now every other universe out there, and how each life we lead will influence everyone around us. And as we did before, we encompass all of this within one, single point. The 10th dimension. This 10-D concept defines our life. It proves that everyone, everywhere has influence on everything. So don’t take the next 60 years of your life lightly. As I have tried to explain, your life has an impact on everything and everyone around you, and so does everyone else’s, because that is how we exist. That is my parting thought. It has been fun, Lafayette. Goodbye.
Life is just another game you have to learn to play As much as I would like to leave you all with some elaborate, extended metaphor for what the future is going to hold, I feel like no one would read it. Instead, I’ll be straight up with you all: life is what you make it out to be. Nothing exemplifies this more than a small purple poster in language arts teacher Melissa Noël’s classroom that reads “If Lafayette sucks, it’s because I make it suck. If Lafayette is good, it’s because I make it good.” In the four years I’ve walked these halls, I’ve had some bad days and I’ve had some pretty freakin’ sweet ones as well. My worst day would have to be the day I lied to my math teacher and earned myself a 15 minute after school detention for it, all on this teacher’s birthday. My best day was the Friday before Homecoming as a freshman. Never had I felt so cool before, and never will I again. Attitude dictates outcome. If I didn’t want to be here, I had awful days, and if I didn’t mind being here, the time was more than bearable. I actually enjoyed it. Most classes in high school are about memorizing trivial facts, and people and dates that won’t really
lead you anywhere. Once you learn to play the system and earn decent enough grades, the real learning can begin. I learned the most from my peers and from the classes I actually had a vested interest in. From my peers, I mostly learned how to not act. Lazy and obnoxious individuals set an example for me early at LHS of what not to be. But eventually I realized that there’s nothing wrong with these kids at all. School just isn’t the best place for them. I too became lazy and obnoxious at times. Arguing with my peers also helped me learn a great deal about life and about what I found important and believed in. Everyone likes to be right, and when I was right in an argument it was a sweet feeling. But when I was wrong, I learned how to take defeat graciously, and learn from it. Now back to those classes I cared about. To be honest, there haven’t been very many through the years. I’ve always cared more about grades than the actual classes, but looking back there were a few classes I re-
Opinion Editor ally took a lot out of. From freshman year, the class that stood out was Geometry. I learned first that a good work ethic can take you a long way. Years of never doing my math homework finally started to bite me back. Second and more importantly, I learned that there is a system in high school, and that I needed to beat it to succeed. It was during sophomore year that I discovered the wonders of sleeping in class and still succeeding in Chemistry. I found out if something isn’t worth your time, you should sleep through it, and focus on other things.
Junior year is often said to be the one that counts the most, but I disagree. Every semester counts, even the second one senior year, although it counts less academically and more emotionally. Riding the pine for football allowed me to focus on my studies and do very well in school, though it cost me a social life at times. This was also the year I joined this staff, which allowed me another outlet besides the football field to be active within the school. Needless to say, I’m glad to have been a part of this paper. Ah, now onto senior year. Besides choosing a college (much to the chagrin of my friends not Mizzou) to attend, and the stress of actually playing on the football team (most games), it was a pretty easy and by far the most enjoyable year of high school. I met some friends that I know will last, and got in touch with some that I never thought I would ever become so close with. Life isn’t over just because high school is, and it’s not like we can’t keep in touch nowadays. So don’t take life too seriously and remember to learn every now and then, because school isn’t the best educator. People are.

Caroline Adcock: Thanks Mrs. Sakowski for being a great teacher, even when I have meltdowns at 8 a.m. over a shoebox camera! You inspired me to follow my dreams no matter how hard they get. Kristin Brown: Mrs. Fields, I love you so much. You have taught me to try me best and never give up. Zack Bujnak: Hey, Jaycox. Thanks for putting up with me in class. You definitely helped me be a better writer, and you’re the best teacher I had in high school. Elisabeth Buha: Mr. Ell, you showed me I should be the best I could be and always told me what I did wrong. You were the most honest and trustworthy. Thank you! Jamie Chapin: Mrs. Morningstar, even though I only had you for a semester you’re still my favorite teacher. Thanks for being such an inspiration. Love ya! Thanks for having the confidence in me that helped me pass both your class and the AP Statistics exam. Alicia Croke: Mr. Brandon, thanks for getting me through my first AP class. Danny Crowe: Mr. Landwehr, take no prisoners, keep running this place. Your motivation has truly inspired me to do great things after high school. Brent Folan: Colonel Berenc, thank you so much for everything you have done. ROTC has been the best experience in my life, and I will definitely miss the program next year. Class of 2009 provides some advice Joe Alkhalaf: Bring your own lunch, get involved with being a superfan! Tessa Aslin: Use the Flex bathroom! Christa Bailey: My advice is to keep on teaching and helping students so they can succeed in life just like I did. Sam Beushausen: Take Latin with Mr. T. Kristin Binz: Enjoy high school as much as you can, you only live the experience once. Allie Boskovich: Watch out for the locker roomswear socks, no exceptions. Veronica Chan: Don’t let any day pass you by. Have fun. Jill Cherkas: Live in the moment! Bob Cymber: Don’t take high school too seriously. Find your passion in life and run for it. Weed out all other things that distract you from changing the world. Be perfect, be disciplined. Zeke Dieckhaus: Take as many PE classes that you can. Sean Eichkorn: Graduate early and you’ll miss all the great things about senior year. Mark Franke: For all the kids going into the Flex program, get on Mrs. Whit’s good side. It will be a long year if you aren’t. Samantha Free: Pay attention when you back out of your parking spot!! Marie Ghobrial: Graduate early if you can. Kirsten Glanvill: Be yourself, look stupid, have fun and laugh it off. Forget the drama- you only have four years in high school make the most of it! Julie Kaprelian: On
the stairway going from the Flex hallway to senior hallway, hold onto the railings because so many people trip going up and down the stairs. Kristin Knoop: If there is one thing I have learned in high school it’s to be yourself and have as much fun as you can! Kyle Leonard: Do more than you think you can, even if it’s to the best of your ability. Kyle Lindner: Be leaders and make the best of your four years at Lafayette High School. Cassie Liu: There is a lot more to high school than just academics, and if you bury yourself under a pile of books for those four years, you are going to miss out on a lot. Arianna Lynch: If you work hard, you can play hard. Make sure your priorities are straight and grades are very important as well. We all encounter road blocks throughout our lives but how you deal with those problems will make you the person you are. Marissa Mantia: Work hard the first three quarters of senior year, so when senioritis kicks in fourth quarter you can embrace it! Lashondra McKinney: Don’t let others discourage you no matter what… keep your head up and then your graduation day will be soon to come. Katharine McLaughlin: Although you may be counting down the days until high school is over, take advantage of opportunities. Take chances, have no regrets and don’t take what you have for granted. Brian McManamey:
If you take Flex, get Whit Lion’s Choice. Joe Miller: Get good grades early so you can slack off later. Amanda Mulherin: Freshmen make good battering rams for clumps of students. Don’t text in class. Taylor Paglisotti: Ask yourself what you want from your four years at Lafayette everyday. Then go after it. If you’re not getting it, you’re doing something wrong. Paige Park: Take community service class-it’s so fun. Adam Polson: Don’t take your classes too seriously. Work hard, but enjoy your high school years… and do well on the PSAT. Amy Pope: Show up to classes and get your work done. Anna Rector: Don’t walk into the wrong bathroom. It tends to create an awkward situation. Anna Rueschhoff: My advice would be to get involved in whatever you can. Whether it’s sports, theater, clubs, just do what you love and do it with your friends because high school doesn’t go on forever. Katie Schaefer: Give your best in everything you do and stand your ground-fight for what you believe in. Rachel Simon: Senior year will be the time of your life, so live it up, try hard, and have fun! Cameron Slauter: Your four years at Lafayette will fly by and you only get them once, so don’t take yourself too seriously and make high school the most fun it possibly can be. Brad Solomon: Don’t try to do too much your senior year, take time to
relax and enjoy yourselves. Cindy Solomon: Don’t be afraid to get out there and try something new, no matter how you think you’ll do. You may discover a passion or hobby you’ll never forget. Alison Stoffel: Leave the drama for your mama. Gabrielle Sullivan: Be yourself and learn to get along with all types of groups and students; the ability to open yourself up and meet with others will help you succeed in life. Taylor Thomas: Stop getting busted for weed. Sarah Varley: Go to school and avoid the senior office. Elyse Vesser: Don’t get caught up in petty drama. Jordyn Voss: Just walk in like you own the place. Corbin Wall: Walk fast Katie Webb: Under no circumstances should you enroll in AP Economics. Jessica Weingarten: Read the sign on the bathroom door! Matt Welsh: To prospective AP Lit students: your teacher is always right. End of story. Lesley Wilkinson: Don’t waste your time. Get involved. Meet people. Build relationships, find your place and enjoy it. Patricia Yang: Get to know the hall monitors. They’re cool people and plus you’ll never get in trouble for wandering the hallways during class. Ashley Zerr: Use all ten of your excused absences. Ali Zimmerman: Appreciate all the great opportunities this school gives you. My friends in my old school district always tell me they wish they could do the things I got to do here.

Last Wills: seniors leave precious items to underclassmen I, Di Ann Anderson, leave my messy school notes and my several half-eaten pop tarts in my senior locker to my little brother Dion. I, Jared Anderson, leave my Not Doin’ It lifestyle to Image staff members Adam Harris and Dan Clutter. I, Chelsea Alfaro, leave my giggles and inside jokes with one of my greatest friends, Courtney Hudspeth. I, Rachel Bailey, leave my hectic Flex schedule to an underclassman that has Human Anatomy and Sr. Lit in the same hour. I, Brandon Bersett, leave being Coach Matt Landwehr’s right hand man to Brad Moderhack. I, Kyle Biernacki, leave my soccer skills to my little sister Danielle. I, Hannah Bliss, leave my math wisdom and Slama memories to my loyal math partner Mason Jones. I, Zach Blocker, leave my locker to my brother Kyle.
I, Brooke Boggs, leave the leather chaps, boxers and number 11 to my favorite sophomore Jordan Vehlewald. I, Kelsey Calvert, leave all the Friday night football games, fun parties and the joy of being an upperclassman to Abbey Angivine. Live it up kido! I, Robby Campbell, leave the “key” to Chris Cooper and every other Lafayette kid who gets it thereon after. I, Drew Carter, leave my locker number 2146 to Tyler Warre, may he continue its amazing tradition. I, Taylor Criswell, leave my universal knowledge and supreme wisdom to Mihir Parthasarathy. Use it well. I, Erik Dauster, leave my journalistic skills to my sister Ami, even though she will be a Legend staffer instead of an Image staffer. I, Nicholas D’Errico, leave my beard to Matt Chubb. I, Joe Deavenport, leave my bullshark testosterone to Jackson Powell. I, Alli Dennis, leave escadrille to all the girls (good luck next year!), Kayla Yoder my choir folder, and to my sister my track shoes. I, Cayleigh Deves, leave my unused polkadot notepad to that freshman in my drafting class.
I, Rachel Dotson, leave the cockroach-infested swim lockers and the freezing cold pool to the fellow Lady Lancer swim team. I, Rob Eames, leave the title of best van to Varun Mehrotra. I, Andrew Echele, leave Kelsey Steis to look over my little brother Adam. I, Jake Finley, leave my training table in the trainer’s room to my little brother Bobby but hopefully he won’t need it. I, Brittany Gibson, leave my parking spot on the snow piles to anyone who thinks they can make it up. I, Ashley Hall, leave my coffee-stained locker that smells like rotten eggs to the upcoming senior that gets it. P.S. I’ll try to get the smell to go away. I, Laura Hamrick, leave my AP scores and mad cello skills to Caitlyn Rumsey and Shannon Horner. I, Amanda Haushalter, leave the gross cockroaches and the filthy lockers in the red locker room to the new swim team and all who use it. I, Rory Hayes, leave my fabulous reputation to my little sister Hannah. I, Melanie Hinzpeter, leave the “Courtney” beast to Courtney Baker. I, Alex Holder, leave my rhinestoned parking pass and pink disco ball to my sister Tori; my
cookie recipes to the varsity baseball boys; and my aerobics gym locker to Mary Buttram. I, Jack Huber, leave all the obnoxious slang phrases created by ’09 for all LHS students to use. I, Daniela Iglesias, leave the awesome senior hallway to my little brother Javi, for him to talk tall and proud in it for all next year. Enjoy. I, Gelisa Jeffries, leave behind my kind heart, my ability to learn from my mistakes, and my respect for the staff to my sister, Genell Jeffries. I, Abby Katsev, leave the giant tube of glitter Emma and I found in Mama Senti’s closet to anyone who needs a little extra sparkle. I, Danny Kenny, leave my legacy of looking good to my little brother Timmy who will try his best but will ultimately fail. I, Yoon-Oh Kim, leave my Bio labs to the unfortunate peons of the man with the Arizona tea. I, Alex Kuhn, leave four years of high school to my little brother. I, Mike Kurlowski, leave my camera and legacy to Daniel Clutter. I, Meghan Lamberth, leave the pitching mound to Liz Desloge! I, Finesha Lenior, leave my ASL laughter to my homie Lanesha Travis.

I, Jessica Manchenton, leave all Prayer Circle duties to Hamilton Jacob Eisle in the hope he continues it in years to come. I, Lauren May, leave Lafayette High School to my freshman brother Taylor…good luck Lafayette. I, Kelly McCarthy, leave my friend “Sprinkles” to my little sister Amanda Waeckerle. I, Nicole Migliazzo, leave the awesomeness Michelle Kristich left me last year to Sam Stermlinger. I, Stephanie Moore, leave half my height to the students 5’6” and under. Use it well. I, Tyler Sellers, leave my Superfan Captainship to Andrew Martin. I, Lexi Sesti, leave my COE parking spot 41 to all the teachers who took it because no student would ever park that far away by choice. I, Cory Shaw, can’t wait to experience the world after Lafayette,
and I want to see my two little brothers dominate Lafayette Baseball. I, Sean Siebert, will pass down my astounding name and good looks to my little brother Ryan. I, Shannon Simms, leave my love to my sister Raven Simms and my cousins La’nesha Travis and Steffonya Raines. I, Steven Stallis, was given the track last year, and now I leave the entire track to Eric and Alex Volstromer. Run fast. Work hard. Feel the pain. Make sure to get sick, just for me. I, Brooke Thibodaux, leave the cross country team and all its traditions in the hands of Elizabeth Worley and all of her own clothes in her closet to my little sister Claire. I, Lexi Thoman, leave Lafayette’s light crew—and all of its responsibilities—to Mason Jones. I, Tori Thoman, leave my little brother Max Thoman our ’99 Toyota Camry, aka, the go-cart. Aren’t ya glad you get it after me? I, Michael Tomaro, leave the all-powerful Super Fan ‘Fro to Apprentice, and future Captain Varun Mehrotra. I, Brianna Youngberg, leave the title “Trouble” given by Mr. Choate to my three younger sisters to come: Emily, Natalie and Erika.
