Evaluation question 5: Addressing an audience When it came to finding out what my audience thought of my product I went to a member of my audience and asked them the following questions: 1. Does the front cover appeal to you? 2. Does the cover image work with the colour scheme? 3. Does the title of the magazine suit the content? 4. Do you like the layout of the contents page? 5. Does the contents page work well with the front cover? 6. Does the contents page work with the theme? 7. Was the feature article fitting with the content of the magazine? 8. Does the feature article work well with the other pages?
The responses: 1.
The audience member responded by saying that the front cover appeals to them as it has a supposed other member of the audience on the front and the cover does not seem to glam them up or make them seem unrealistic or fake, the subheadings and the colour choices make them well visible and easy to read whilst also not making them unsightly or not fitting to the content.
2.
The cover image compliments the colour scheme due to the use of different shades of blue but also making sure that the hoodie does not blend into the background making the cover person look boring and not enticing.
3.
The title “sound&vision does suit the content of the magazine yet it does sound a little dated and more for a retro tech based magazine, the way in which the typography of the title presents itself does make it seem more interesting and modern but along with the title it does create a small amount of dissonance.
4.
The layout of the contents page is visible and simple which helps to show the content of the magazine in a clear and concise manner and that lets the reader find the content that they want quickly and thus creating a better experience for the reader as they can find what they
want from the magazine and ignore the rest which an inevitable side effect of covering such a wide amount of topics. 5.
The front cover works well with the contents page as the technological theme is carried through both yet the front cover does has a bit more colour to it than the contents page making the contents page look more boring and typical in comparison.
6.
The contents page does fit the theme well and reinforces the whole spectrum of technology due to the association with computer circuitry, guitars and gaming peripherals such as headsets.
7.
The feature article fits with the content of the magazine as the focus of the article is a typical guy who quickly rose to fame which is a cornerstone of the mantra of the technological revolution due to the make your own way attitude. The article also mentions more content in the magazine which is related to the main guy which I guess could count as the article fitting with the rest of the magazine.
8.
The feature article does work well with the other pages thanks to the images featuring technology and the phot on the front of the magazine is also of the same person and in the same dress making the magazine consistent and also using the front page to tease what is to come.
