This unit provides an introduction to the main production processes, styles, planning and techniques used Promotional Video Production. This unit is linked with the learning in Unit 1: Contextual Studies, Unit 2: Media Industries, Unit 3: Research Techniques, Unit 4: Media Project, Unit 5: Production Management, Unit 8: Practical Skills Moving Image, Unit 26: Camera and Lighting Workshop and Unit 31: Film and Television Drama Production.

Assignment Outline The purpose of this unit is to help you gain an understanding of promotional video and professional practice. Your assessment assignment 2 of this unit will aid the development of your professional production techniques. Following on from your pitches, your task is to produce a promotional video to a professional standard, following a specific, realistic and client-led brief. Following on from the pitching stage, groups will form around successful ideas. You will then be expected to develop and produce this promo with an identified broadcast outlet and market in mind. You will negotiate and liaise with your chosen client throughout your production to produce a finished video, showing competent planning and production management skills, and a good understanding of the marketing, presentational and commercial considerations essential to your production. You must liaise closely with your client through all areas of pre-production, production and post-production, ensuring that your work is meeting all of the client’s specific needs. If the work for this assignment is also being used for your Media Project (Unit 4) and/or Production Management (Unit 5), please be aware of all additional assignment requirements.

To obtain a PASS grade, the learner must meet above outcomes and assessment criteria as indicated.

Merit
