01CROSSFADE
Academic Term: Winter/ Spring 2021, Arch 352/353 Type: Research/ Education Center/ Office Site: San Francisco, CA
Square Footage: 45,000 sq ft Individual project
As a combination of a private research company and education center, “Crossfade” intends to drive the conversation forwards by providing unique experiences for different user groups while simultaneously incorporating the concept of high technology – VR & AR.
Two sets of circulations locate on each side of the building, serving the public access area and private company separately. Due to the large-scale glass material, people could see each other, but the circulations never crossed. It provides essential protection to the confidentiality of the VR/AR research on the company side. Furthermore, it allows the public to sneak peek into the most advanced technology, raising curiosity and interest. The boundaries are there but blurry.

SOCIAL CONNECTIONS
Academic Term: Winter/Spring 2022, Arch 452/453
Type: Mixed Use/ residential & commercial Site: Los Angeles, CA Square Footage: 1.1M sq ft Individual project
Focused on the user experience, this new mixed-use housing complex proposal means satisfying all different groups’ needs. The design separates the different programs based on public accessibility. It infuses the programs simultaneously while interwinding to create interactions between people, ultimately bringing people back to the pre-pandemic situation. Sky bridges (16th, 19th, 22nd Floor) are treated as a critical social space for all the residents and hotel users, connecting all four towers. The rooftop garden (7th Floor) is located on the top floor of the main commercial complex serviced as the urban gateway for the general public and the building entrances for the residents. Large green spaces plus the theaters and fine dining cloud provide people a great place to spend their free time.

URBAN ESCAPER
Academic Term: Fall 2022, Arch 451 Type: Adaptive Reuse/ Residential/ Public Spaces
Site: Lungotevere degli Artigiani, Rome, Italy
Square Footage: 8,000 sq m Individual project
Redesigning Lungotevere degli Artigiani, 30, keeping its structure but redesigning the skin, the circulation, and the typical unit layout so as to make the old building more amenable to contemporary needs and lifestyles. Creating single-unit-size balcony space to improve units and outdoor spaces, connecting the people with the surrounding environment. The first floor and basement provide shared space of different degrees on the spectrum from public to private.
Riverfront public spaces is a multi-story structure that serves as boating facilities, and short-term storage. These may also provide artisans workshops, bike repair shops, a coffee shop, and an open-air market to bring people back together for the post-pandemic era.
03
In many Mediterranean cities, housing takes the form of relatively anonymous blocks, with flats sharing a stairwell but not much else. Roofs are either inaccessible or used only for T.V. antennas, streets and sidewalks are dominated by cars, and courtyards, where present, are rarely used for much socializing or communal gatherings. And yet there is a great potential for shared semi-public space, visible in earlier neighborhoods and in newer projects in other cultures (often inspired by those traditional Italian piazzas and shared streets).

I gained experience with Revit through hands-on training under the NBBJ’s BIM leader and attended six weeks of Revit workshops. I modeled Villa Savoye from scratch and produced construction documents with dimensions and structural grids.
I also aided in drawing project schematic and fire life safety plans on Revit based on the sketches from our team’s senior medical planner and project architect. In addition, I worked directly with my team for the building program test fits. I have assisted in creating the ADA sheet Revit template, which can be easily modified and added to any project, saving significant times and money. And it has already been successfully implemented in one ongoing project.
