Networkund solutions Strahlquellen Optik Aggregation and optical transport Optical network systems realize transportation of data streams by time-multiplexing (TDM). TDM allows converting different data formats and protocols into one single data stream. This optical transportation establishes the interface between LAN, WAN and SAN. We offer a variety of aggregation and transport platforms for integrator-, enterprise, ISP-, and carrier customers. Different data rates and protocols (like STM-1 to STM-64, up to 10 Gb/s Ethernet / FC) can be seamlessly aggregated and transmitted. The operating environment comprises e.g. system integrators network provider telecom provider ISP (Internet Service Provider) SAN (Storage Area Network) Access- Metro- and regional networks Aggregation for DSLAM, CMTS. FTTH, SONET ADMs

CWDM / DWDM – Metro-platforms Due to the increasing bandwith demand CWDM- and DWDM technologies are used in optical transmission networks. Therefore Wavelength multiplexing is also important to the Metro- and Access networks area. We offer our customers flexible CWDM/DWDM platforms (PL100-PL400) for transport of storage-, data-, voice- and video applications, that support the known transmission protocols from 2Mbps up to 10 Gbps. These platforms are suitable for long transmission paths and comprise additional functionalities like optical amplification, Mux/Demux features, 3R technology, management of transmission and much more. Moreover it is possible to have bidirectional transmission over a single fiber with several chanels (up to 10 Gbps).
Our offered CWDM/DWDM platforms further allow: Streamlining of networks, cost reduction when using dark fiber CWDM/DWDM expansion between switching center and interchange Easy expansion of capacity on existing links in residential area, office buildings. Transport of SONET/SDH, Ethernet, Fibre Channel FC, OTN and video service Connection of SAN- and LAN areas Provisioning of dispersion compensation modules and amplifier modules.

Network solutions Optical Switch for Network Management Laser 2000 offer brandnew optical cross connect (up to 190 x 190 ports) for SM fiber, that operate fully protocol transparent and non-blocking. Input and output ports may be switched together in any combination within 20 ms. Remote control and supervision is achieved directly with a computer or a Ethernet interface. Field of application is simplified management of optical networks and fast response to network outages.
Webcode: 4048
Media Conversion Media Conversion is the conversion of data rate and media e.g.:
Copper to fiber
MM fiber to SM fiber
Wavelength conversion (850 nm to 1310 nm)
One wavelength transmission on CWDM/DWDM
The modular setup of the CUT series is extremely flexible. With the means of SFPs any optical interface may be easily realized. CUT converter are shipped either standalone or in a chassis. Webcode: 4033
Network solutions Transmission protection and Security Control Intelligent optical cross-connect even provide the availability of the optical network in the case the fiber link is disconnected or a transmission module went broken. A disrupted and disconnected element is automatically detected and a backup link is switched within 10 ms. This protection feature is available with the modular platform LightLeader. Together with various interfaces (SNMP, CLI over Telnet, CLI over RS232, LCD screen with user knobs) LightLeader may be easily integrated in existing as well as new systems. The MLS (Monitoring Line System) is a flexible system for fiber supervision. The monitoring works on
continous power measurement
OTDR measurement

With the support of tailored management software also complex networks may be continously remote controlled.
Transponder The Transponder is an important interface between LAN and WAN networks. They optimize and convert data streams from the LAN area. The process involves signal conditioning (3R), wavelength conversion as well as FEC (forward error correction). Another important feature is the supervision of the transmission link and eventually switch over to a redundant link.
Further important features are e.g.: suitable for OC-3/12/48, OC-48 with FEC, STM-1/4/16, Gb-Ethernet, 100FX, FC 1/2, 1G, 2G FC, ESCON, FDDI, SDI Video (270 and 540 Mbps)
swapable SFP transceiver on WAN and LAN
2R (translation), 3R (regeneration),4R (reframe) options
Optional protection switching faster than 50 ms.
Our 10 Gbps Transponder family stands out with high packing density, flexibility of the transmission protocols and range of application.
Network solutions Transceiver Transceivers are standardized transmission modules. They convert electrical signals into optical signals. Transceivers may be used in established routers and switches for the LAN, SAN and WAN area. We offer transceiver solutions for various applications.
LAN For the LAN area we offer original and OEM transceiver (GBIC, SFP) for Cisco, HP, Extreme, Nortel, Foundry, Avaya, IBM, Enterasys and similiar systems.
WAN Besides opticals for GigabitEthernet, STM-1, STM-4, STM-16 and STM-64 also transceivers for CWDM and DWDM are available. This increases the transmission bandwith as well as the flexibility to set up metro transmissions.
datarates up to 2.7 Gbit/s with SFP resp. 10 Gbit/s with XFP, XENPAK, X2

Components for FTTX and Metro Networks FTTX Components We offer beside complex systems and sub modules of transmission active and passive components for the setup of broadband access in the FTTX area. Whether e.g. FTTH (fiber-to-the-home) as Point-to-Point or Point-to-Multipoint is realized, both cases require 1:N splitter for setup. These may be 1:4 to 1:32 splitters. 2 alternative technologies for splitters are available:
Fused coupler based splitter
Planar wave guide splitter
These splitters are offered with different plugs e.g. SC, LC and MPO plugs. For FTTH applications special active electronic devices are needed. Also so called BiDi transceivers are used here. These transceivers allow for bi-directional transmission, e.g. 1310/1490nm over a single fiber. Current form factors of these BiDi transceivers (transceiver for bi-directional transmission) are SFP or SFF. We offer triplexer transceiver in the case for CATV signal at 1550nm in addition to be transmit.

Network solutions CWDM / DWDM Components for Metro Networks We offer a broad spectrum of modular CWDM/DWDM components for the plug-and-play application. Also Add/ Drop-, Tap- and Isolator components belong to this passive component group. Passive Mux/Demux modules can be easily integrated in existing systems to increase capacity. They have Brocade certification and are compatible with Cisco systems amongst others. Range of application of these components are overall data communication and tele-communication; especially metro networks, Gigabit Ethernet, Sonet/SDH and Broadband/CATV systems.
