COMPANY PROFILE Company History Photonfocus was founded on May 1st 2001 as spin-off from the CSEM, the Swiss Centre for Electronics and Micro technology. The shareholders of the company are IHAG Holding AG, Zentronica AG and the Albert KĂśchlin Stiftung.
Mission The mission of Photonfocus is to supply the vision industry with advanced, high performance CMOS image sensors and industrial area scan cameras conforming to the target industry quality requirements and certifications. Operating in a very competitive environment it is crucial to possess and maintain the know how and the capability to design proprietary image sensors as well as the ability to provide high performance camera solutions based on our sensors as well as third party components. Business Model Photonfocus uses a fabless business model to further concentrate the focus on its core competence and thereby maintain the market leadership. Cooperation with world leaders in wafer fabrication ensures state-of-the-art process technology for CMOS imagers. The production of the PCB boards is out-sourced. These boards are finally assembled into camera products and tested in our facilities where we work according to certified procedures.
Distribution – Strategy and Orientation Photonfocus serves its home market (Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy and France) directly with professional Key Account Mangers as well as professional distributors. 60 % of the income is generated by export using a highly professional and efficient distributor network in the main industrial countries of the world.
Certifications, Patents, Awards The company holds the ISO9001:2000 certificate which has been renewed in 2006. Our products meet the requirements of the relevant industry standard CE as well as the

severe standards of the automotive industry for the products dedicated to these applications. All of our products are RoHS and WEEE compliant. Photonfocus holds a number of important patents and trademarks, of which the most significant one is LinLogŽ – a technology enabling image contrast of 1,000,000:1 or 120 dB dynamic range. The company has been awarded several times for outstanding developments, technologies and achievements. Photonfocus is member of the AIA, the EMVA and the IMVG and plays an active role in several committees dedicated to development of relevant standards for the vision industry.
Personnel Photonfocus is a market orientated company with highly innovative products that currently employs 29 persons of which 65% hold an academic degree in physics or electronic engineering. Although being a Swiss company it is a melting pot for people from different cultures and nationalities. This enables Photonfocus to support the majority of our customers in their native languages. Photonfocus is committed to contribute actively to the continuous education of its staff and also offers young people the opportunity of a basic professional apprenticeship.

For easier integration into tailored customer applications and especially where space or weight is a limiting factor we offer a range of our camera products as “Board Level“ models. All of the features and technical data are identical to the standard cameras except for the mechanical dimensions. The footprint of these cameras is as small as 46 mm x 46 mm.
