The technic
The mixed media is made on a initial basis Gicleé print, then painted with acrilic, pastel, oil and pencil on a 450 grs. 100% cotton Canvas, framed.
Each painting is serialized on a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 12. As Pablo finishes the work indivdually, each copy behaves as an original. An authorized signed certified joins each painting.
There are three sizes for the paintings: 60 x 78 cm 76 x 110 cm
x 156cm
Package and travelling
Although each painting is framed on wood, the way for safe travelling includes the package out of the frame, and rolled inside a special cardboard tube, of 80 or 90 cm tall, depending the work size.
Painting process
Each painting process includes a first stage of digital giclee print on 450 grs canvas, finished later with acrilic painting, pastels, collage, oil and mixed technics. The Canvas can be stretched on wood, or framed, depending the work and size.
Moby Dick. The old man and the sea On the roadPablo Bernasconi was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina on the 6th of August, 1973. He is a graphic designer graduated from Buenos Aires University, where he was professor of Design and Head of Practical Jobs for five years.
His work are also been published in newspapers and magazines all around the world, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Saturday Evening Post, Telegraph, El Pais and The Times of England. He’s currently working for various publications in different countries, and every Sunday he published an awarded critical review, in the newspaper La Nación (Argentina). Besides his work with publishers and media, Pablo is permanently collaborating with the Abuelas de Plaza de mayo (Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo) on their graphic job. He is the author for the text and illustrations of fifteen books and he has been collaborated with another thirty with his illustrations.
Pablo Bernasconi participated in several individual and group exhibitions in Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Bolivia, Italy, Slovenia, Colombia, United States and England. He created a traveling expo around Argentina called “Finales” for more than three years, which was seen by 150000 people this far. Part of this group is shown here.
Awards:
He won 10 Society of Newspaper Design awards, including silver and gold medals for his work in many newspapers.
Selected for Illustration Now in TASCHEN 2014, Distinguished by ALIJA IBBY , best overall book (text, illustration and edition), Captain Arsenio, and El Infinito best children book of the year, Zena Sutherland Award. University of Chicago; Was selected to represent Argentina in the Andersen Awards (Bologna, Italy) in 2012 and 2018 and 2019 where he reached the finalist group.
Conferences & Seminars
He offered lectures and seminars referring: illustration, design and literature, at different cultural spaces and Universities, where he also works as an essayist.
Actually Pablo has an awarded visual opinion column at La Nación newspaper every sunday.
