The musical passport of recording artist and songwriter Ashley Davis offers a rich display of colorful stamps from Ireland and Scotland, but also heavily draws from the influences of her birthplace, the Kansas plains, and the country music traditions borne of the Appalachian Mountains. An internationally recognized recording artist and songwriter, Ashley has collaborated with musical luminaries such as the Chieftains’ Paddy Moloney, fiddle player Eileen Ivers, harpist Cormac De Barra, the “First Lady of Celtic Music” Moya Brennan, Sara Watkins and John Doyle, among many others.

STATEMENT FROM THE ARTIST:

STATEMENT FROM THE ARTIST:

Creating this album has been a two-year journey, one that I began with the album’s signature piece, Burning Down. As I started writing, I envisioned the prairies that surrounded me as a child in Kansas. The phrase Burning Down is used here in the regenerative sense, to describe the prairie fires that created, and recreated, the beautiful landscapes of my youth. Those memories caused me to ponder how we all “burn down” many times, as we meet the sometimes overwhelming challenges that life presents. If we make it through those fires, we regenerate into something new, something different, something stronger, shedding the old and letting go. By burning down the dead grasses in our lives, we leave in their wake the opportunity for a fresher, greener self-portrait on the same canvas as the old. This album represents that th concept, a foundation that imbues each of the other songs you will meet here. Here’s to your own fires and resulting bright rebirths. — AD ANNIVERSARY
