Preface This Artbook is made and created for everyone how is or has struggling with their identity. “Introspection on Identity” is a self-reflection about the identity of myself and for the younger generation. I want to let people thinking about their personalities and it’s fine to work about yourself. Knowing your own identity is what makes you the person you are and sometimes it’s hard to live up to that point. By using relatable subjects and inspiring quotes, I hope to help young people to grow into who they are. Those are also expressions of my creativity and words that has helped me being who I am. This Artbook is a great way to show you my own style as a designer. The society has some a weird way of reacting to people who do not satisfy their socalled standards. All those stereotyping and put into boxes, is what it’s making hard to become completely yourself. The youth of this generation (and the upcoming ones) are growing up with a large amount of expectations and insecurities. The biggest influents of that is social media. Everywhere around you, people are giving their opinion all the time.

Many teenagers suffer from an identity crisis. The feel an intense longing for meaning. The reasons for this could be choice stress, high expectations and social pressure. They also living with the idea to compare with peers. Life feels like a competition to win, which is not in reality. The target audience for the Artbook is Generation-Z. They are the generation who are now in the adolescently and the first generation who grows up with the internet. This Artbook is made by Gen-Z and all of the visuals and written mediums are about them. They are willing to change the world and an example for personal development. Self-expression is one of the most important things to do. It gives you freedom to you own identity. Through the Art book you will experience all kinds of self-expressions. During your whole life, you actually never stop learning about you self. You are changing through phases of life and in every phase, you have a different look of yourself. But it’s the time and knowledge you give to yourself, that accept the way you are.

Adolescent Most people use to things that the most important brain development happens in the early childhood (0-3 years old). But the brain goose through another phase of change, the time you developed from child to young adult. This time in life is called the adolescence. It’s is de most important time of your identity formation and the moment of exploring who you are. Nowadays is Gen-Z adolescent. That’s why they are the most important target group of this Artbook. The adolescence can be a difficult time. Many factors are playing a role in the identity development. People having a primary need to belong with other people, so also the adolescent. They want to feel connected and it is vital for them. What your environment looks like and with which people you associate plays a major role in the formation of your identity as a person. Thanks to social media, young people are continuously presented with perfection and success. They compare themselves to them, which creates their own high expectations. These factors could lead to insecurities and even an identity crisis. With this Artbook I want to send a message to last be who you are. Who cares about what you wear that day, how you behave or what they say about you. At the end of the day we all die, so make sure you’re living your life how you want.

THE STYLE ISSUE One of the best ways to express yourself is for many people through fashion. Sometimes daring to dress how you want is found difficult. Because of the people around you and their opinions. But the way you wear is the most fun thing you can do for yourself, because it makes YOU happy. Not only fashion is a style issue. Things you like to do, the people you like, ect. It can all be understood by an issue of expression. Sometimes it can be hard (thanks to society) But who are you kidding, if you not? So, my advice: Your style is not an issue!

GENERATIO Also known as Zoomers. Generation Z is the generation born between the mid-to-late 1990s and the early 2010s. Most members are the children of Generation X. They are the first social generation that have grown up with access to the internet and digital technology. Gen-Z is the most diverse generation to date and globally oriented through the blurring of the frontier thanks to social media. Everything can and everything is possible. It’s always tempting to put generations in a neat box of characteristics. But compared to previous generations, for Gen-Z the box doesn’t exist.

“Why focus on difference when there are more important things to fix?” (Greta Thunberg). While issues of race, gender and sexuality clearly still require addressing, the distinctions that previous generations have felt are simply ludicrous to Generation Z, who see no sense in making categories. Instead, they prefer to look at issues that affect everyone, all over the world. They see how their previous generation went wrong and want to do better themselves. They have a great desire for change and will make it happen. Unlike the Millennials, who mainly dreamed of change, Gen-Z will stand directly with change. They are seen as world improvers and the new future.

“The generation that asks for change, and will make it happen” -18-

The pink glasses An important element for the photography of each model was the rose-colored glasses. The pink glasses symbolize the way I see life and what I want to convey. The pink glasses return in different ways through the Artbook. As in the color, the photography and the overlay. Meaning of the pink glasses: Everyone has a setback in their life. The trick is to see the positive in everything and see life through rose-colored glasses. You get more gratitude with yourself and what you have. Realize that no one is perfect and you don’t have to be either. Self-esteem is everything. Accept who you are with all your negatives and positives. Life is a gift, you have to throw a party!
