ON THE

COVER

Ai’shea has been nominated for Operation Homefront Military Child of the Year by the Key Spouse at her father’s unit. With two parents on active duty, Ai’Shea is the epitome of the military child—all necessary qualities included. Until the age of nine, she lived in a single-parent household, while her mother was stationed in Germany, Japan and Louisiana. In her 17 years of life, she has endured 29 months of one of her parents being deployed. Despite the rigors of military life, or perhaps because of them, Ai’Shea has developed a tremendous amount of resiliency and self-direction. For additional information on the Key Spouse program see page 20.

Maj Michelle P. Richards

Happy New Year Maxwell! 365 new days, 365 new chances to let the

42d Force Support Squadron help you with your New Year's resolutions. Last year the top resolutions were health, fitness, finances, and spending more time with family and friends. The 42d Force Support Squadron is committed to helping you meet your goals and sustain them through 2018.

For health and fitness, we welcome you to link up with our incredible

fitness team. We have a full range of programs to supercharge your efforts from an Aerobic-thon to 5ks, all to get you in ti-top shape before that next fitness test or summer vacation.

For finance, see our savvy professionals at Airman & Family Readiness Center

and they will help chart a path for retirement or assist you in digging out of your holiday buyer’s remorse.

For ideas on spending more time with family and friends, come join the FSS for

our inaugural St. Patty’s Day Festival, our annual Egg Hunt, or a tasty meal at our Maxwell Club.

2017 was an unbelievable year for our Maxwell-Gunter Community and 2018 is

set to be even better. We have three great Air Force Entertainment Shows this year starting this quarter with Ryan and Friends. Stay tuned for the other two shows later in the year.

We at the 42d Force Support Squadron are excited to continue our efforts

to foster community, facilitate your ability to build resiliency, and ensure your readiness. We hope to see you around the neighborhood. Give our newest mascot “Max” a waive or a high five next time yousee him! Unleash the Force in 2018 Maxwell

MEET MAX!Mascot

42d Force Support Squadron’s

The tradition of mascots dates back at least to the American Civil War. Many

regiments kept living mascots, including Sallie, a bull terrier who followed the men into battle. One of the most famous mascots was Old Abe the bald eagle, who was

said to have called out a fierce battle cry as she circled the sky above her regiment, the 8th Wisconsin infantry. Mascots embody the desire to support your organization and are a visual representation of the best parts.

Support is the responsibility of 42d Force Support Squadron. Max is going to be

the face of the squadron’s dedication to provide the best support and community services to airmen and their families. A raccoon was chosen because of its ability to adapt with strength and fearlessness. Adaptability, strength and fearlessness are all qualities a force support squadron needs to efficiently serve airmen.

CHAMPIONS

CONGRATULATIONS TEAM GUNTER! The games have been played, and Gunter’s team was crowned victorious at the 2017 Lodging Olympics, General Manager Chris Kitchens shared, “The annual tournament is a way for our lodging team to shake things up and have some fun! Teams showed off their skills with a basketball shoot-off, corn hole, golf, and lip syncing contest.
