OCTOBER 2013 Life Care Active News for active men and women 55+

Welcome to Life Care Active! It has been a busy few months here at Life Care Active. We have introduced monthly health seminars for you and the general public to attend free of charge. We also welcome Ann Buchan a Neuro-Physiotherapist to the Life Care Active team. We have updated our timetable to make way for additional classes, so make sure you collect one from reception. As the sun starts to shine and Christmas is just around the corner, we encourage you to remember to be active, every day. Miles Lunde – Manager

Health seminars prove popular

Strength for Life Classes Introducing 2 new classes: Mondays at 7.30am in Studio 2 Wednesdays at 9.15am in Studio 2

Our inaugural health seminar in September, on the topic Bone and Joint health, provided by our Dietitian Lisa Ansell was well attended. Studio one was full, with over 25 people turning up for the event.

The audience enjoyed a Q&A session with Lisa on issues around nutrition for osteoporosis and arthritis. Lisa is available now for appointments to assist you to meet your dietary goals.

We were pleased to reward the attendees with a $20 voucher to use on any new service with Life Care Active. We encourage clients to RSVP for these events as whilst they are free, we do have a limit on the number of places available. We are working with Councils to spread the message about being active. Life Care Active was pleased to receive a small grant from the Onkaparinga Council to provide two senior fitness field days in October. These will be run at our southern satellite services in Reynella - at 278 Old South Road. Thursday October 17: 9am - 12pm Thursday October 31: 12pm - 4pm

We hope to enable up to 30 individuals to have a free seniors fitness test. We will then provide them with information about appropriate opportunities to be active in the local area. Our partners COTA, Active Ageing and the Heart Foundation are all supporting this free event so pass on the word if you know anyone in the area who would like to participate. Healthy snacks and a goodie bag will be given to those who attend. If you’d like to know more, please call reception on 8168 7600 and ask to speak to Jude Lowe. We hope to see you there!
