Google’s Eclectic Tel Aviv Office Space [30 pics] At the end of December 2012, Google Israel unveiled their brand new office space in Tel Aviv for their growing team of engineers, marketers and sales people. Designed by Swiss firm Camenzind Evolution, the sprawling office comprises of 8,000 sq. meters (86,111 sq. ft) over eight floors in the prestigious Electra Tower, offering breathtaking views of the Tel Aviv skyline. To assist with the design, Camenzind Evolution teamed with Setter Architects and Studio Yaron Tal; a fitting partnership given that nearly 50% of all office areas were allocated to create ‘communication landscapes'; diverse environments designed for teamwork, collaboration and communication with fellow Googlers. In addition to collaborating design firms, each floor was designed with a different aspect of the local identity, with each theme selected by a local group of Googlers who assisted in the interpretation. For lunch, the Googlers can choose from three restaurants with different themes: non-kosher, kosher dairy and kosher meat. Only 7 of the 8 rented floors in Electra Tower are actually occupied by Google. The remaining floor gives space to a new ‘Campus’, opened in December by the Israeli Prime Minister. ‘Campus Tel Aviv’ powered by Google for Entrepreneurs, is a new hub for entrepreneurs and developers, providing a base for start-up companies, and is only the second Google ‘Campus’ worldwide. Finally, sustainability also played a vital role to Google in the development of their new Tel Aviv offices and the project is currently awaiting LEED ‘Platinum’ certification, the first of its category in Israel.
