PHILOSOPHY We have set ourselves the goal to create innovative and top quality furniture and objects under the label of aaro. Form, material and handcraft are harmonized. Thereby, unique products evolve and create an added value through their functionality and clear expression of form. The combination, application and arrangement of the materials express a high quality standard. The interaction of handcraft and design gains in importance through the collaboration with local providers.
DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT With us, from the idea to the first draft, followed by the functional model and the prototype, it all evolves from one source. The parts of the small series are being produced in local facilities. Thus aaro is flexible and able to systematically use new materials and modern procedure and manufacturing techniques.
TEAM Philipp Schuler: BA Industrial Design / Advanced Studies in Interior Design / Cabinet Maker Roland Wildi: Business Administrator / Master Cabinet Maker … have both completed their apprenticeship in the same company. In the course of time they have often used the same motorway exit “Aarau-Ost”. Thus the label name aaro. With the further education, their ways separated. The passion for furniture, design and handcraft has brought them back together on the same path.
The dining table varia duo turns into a worktable in no time. As soon as you pull on the tabletop, its surface widens and a spacious storage area evolves. It offers enough room for working utensils, games or your tableware. On demand, the storage area will be equipped with electricity. With insert panels, the tabletop can be broadened 30 cm. Thus you have more room available for a cozy raclette or fondue and up to ten people around the table. During office work, the enlargement offers room for a comfortable working up to six people. Additional modules divide the storage room. They can also be equipped with a socket strip. Thanks to a novel assembly system varia duo can be taken apart into single components and therefore be well transported during a move. The heaviest component weighs about 15 kg. Varia constists of natural solid wood and ply wood and is available in different wood types and dimensions. The interaction of form, material and colour adds lightness, Design naturalness and freshness.

Varia mono consists of solid wood and ply wood. The table with storage room is available in different wood types and dimensions. The interaction of form, material and colour adds lightness, naturalness and freshness. Below the tabletop on both sides exists 17 cm wide storage areas of the overall length of the table. You can remove the legs and thus easily Design transport the table.

Anello combines cutting board and bread box. The elastic synthetic sticks catch the bread crumbs. The knife is stashed in a device on the cover, which at the same time serves as handle. Anello is a prototype and therefore not yet available. We are at the moment testing different manufacturing techniques. We would be open for a collaboration with an interested manufacturer.
