FANTASY PIG OF THE WEEK

u As we flagged on the Traders podcast, big Max Gawn was eyeing off a score of 150 against Max Lynch and the Hawks. The form player of the AFL dominated for the fourth successive week, this time producing an unbelievable stat line consisting of 29 possessions, six marks, three tackles, two goals and 35 hit-outs for a score of 149. Since being a popular trade out for Braydon Preuss for a cash grab, the Melbourne skipper has sent a clear message to the competition.

HONOURABLE MENTIONS

u Tom Stewart was the highest-scoring player of the round with a massive performance in Geelong’s loss to the Dockers. He took full advantage of the Cats playing possession footy in the back half, taking an impressive 14 marks and collecting 40 possessions for 157. Tom Lynch took full advantage of the training run against the Eagles, grabbing 14 marks and kicking 7.5 to score a lazy 146 in a match-winning performance for many Draft owners.

CASH COWS OF THE WEEK

MICHAEL BARLOW MEDAL VOTES – ROUND 7

5GREG CLARK

WCE, MID – 110 u We have been eagerly awaiting the debut of the mature-ager and after returning through the WAFL following injury, we finally got our wish. The big-bodied midfielder didn’t disappoint, ending with 26 possessions, seven marks and six tackles for the Eagles. He is a ‘must-have’ trade target.

4NIC MARTIN

ESS, FWD – 91 u The Bomber youngster is on fire, finishing the week as the second-best rookie. He had 25 possessions to go with four marks and a season-high four tackles for 91. =3 TYSON STENGLE GEEL, FWD – 87 u The rookie-priced Cat has put together a great stretch, with 80, 79 and 87 in his past three games. It has caused a nice spike in his cash generation. =3 JACK CARROLL CARL, MID – 87 u The young Blue made the most of his call-up with an outstanding performance. He had 19 possessions and eight marks for 87 from just 68 per cent time on ground.

1ROBBIE McCOMB

WB, MID – 83 u After a solid debut the previous week, the mature-age Dog turned it up a notch and did his job security no harm, with two goals and 21 touches.

BUY HOLD SELL

LUKE PARKER

SYDNEY SWANS

FWD/MID, $760,000

u The Swans star is averaging 112 in his past three games, which included 119 last week, and he has a BE of just 75. Can be selected as a forward which increases his value even further.

GREG CLARK

WEST COAST EAGLES

MID, $250,000

u It was an impressive debut for the mature-age Eagle, with his price increasing a whopping $60K following 24 possessions, seven marks and six tackles for 110. He has a BE of negative 31, making him a must-have cash cow.

TOUK MILLER

GOLD COAST SUNS

MID, $885,000

u The Suns co-captain appears to be over his form slump and given his BE of 95, he has bottomed out in price. After three weeks of not reaching triple figures where he barely laid a tackle, he has had eight and six in the past two weeks while returning scores of 111 and 140.

ALSO CONSIDER:

Clayton Oliver, Patrick Cripps, James Sicily.

WARNIE

WARNE DAWGS ROUND 7 – 2250 PTS

u The rookie roulette wheel didn’t go my way again this week, costing me a look at 2300. The faster we get them off our ground the better, so pick them off with traditional downgrades/ upgrade trades.

ROUND 7 – 2322 PTS

u As much as I have enjoyed the thought of Nick Daicos rounding out my backline at D6 for the remainder of the season, we need to remind ourselves he is a rookie and will tire.

ROUND 7 – 2327 PTS

u I must have set a record last week after my top-10 captain recommendations all pumped out huge scores. One thing I will be keeping an eye on is who has a match-up with the Eagles.

TOM GREEN

GWS GIANTS

MID, $765,000

u The young Giant is in the middle of a breakout season and has produced some outstanding scores, including four hundreds, topped by an impressive 133. In the past four weeks, he has had triple figures on only one occasion and was quiet last week.

JACK SINCLAIR

ST KILDA

DEF/MID, $796,000

u The hard-working Saint started the year in scintillating fashion, dominating in a midfield role where he recorded a low of 93 in the first five rounds. He has since moved primarily back into defence with scores of 84 and 80.

ADAM TRELOAR

WESTERN BULLDOGS

MID/FWD, $754,000

u The magnet has been solid, without reaching the outstanding heights we have seen from him in the past. He is averaging a respectable 92 for a forward, but his score of just 78 last week leaves a sour taste.

ALSO CONSIDER:

Jordan De Goey, Zak Butters, Daniel Rioli.

ROY

DESTROY

MITCH DUNCAN

GEELONG

FWD/MID, $720,000

u The Cat star had a lot of hype in the pre-season given his forward eligibility and long history of being an elite scorer. Unfortunately, we have not seen evidence of that, with a top score of 90 in his six games.

JASON HORNE-FRANCIS

NORTH MELBOURNE

MID, $513,000

u The No. 1 pick has averaged 68 and increasing in value by $223K. But it is time to go, after his 52 last week. He has a BE of 68 and a downgrade to Greg Clark looks a great option, allowing you to upgrade in another position with the cash generated.

NICK DAICOS

COLLINGWOOD

MID/DEF, $639,000

u The talented Pie ball magnet is averaging 87 and is available in our backline. But if you can move him to a top-line premium, it’s hard to say no after he has averaged 72 in his past three. He has a BE of 87.

ALSO CONSIDER:

Josh Rachele, Will Brodie, Jake Bowey.

Always with time for the fans, Cripps’ easy-going nature and strong commitment for health and wellness in many community causes make him the perfect Ambassador for Coles Healthy Kicks.

What did you do as a kid to stay active?

u Growing up in the country and on a farm in Western Australia, I was always outdoors at every opportunity. The things I loved doing most as a kid were constantly playing all types of sports with my mates and going to the beach.

What healthy foods did you love as a kid?

u My darling Mum always cooked us heathy meals, but my favourite food as a kid was chicken and vegetable stir-fries, they were delicious. When my Mum wasn’t there, however, Dad would only have his one meal up his sleeve which was lamb chops, peas and potatoes!

What is your favourite healthy food now?

u I enjoy nearly all healthy smoothies I can get my hands on. For example, banana smoothies, chicken salads or a chicken and mushroom risotto pre-game are my go-to.

Why is it important for kids to be part of a team?

u As a kid, I always loved playing with my mates and having fun together. The best thing I believe is doing things with other people where you can share memories together that last a lifetime, which is what being part of a team is all about.

What’s your favourite memory of being part of a team as a kid?

u My favourite memory of being part of a team was playing footy

ROLE MODEL:

Patrick Cripps strongly supports healthy lifestyles for children. on a Sunday afternoon for the Northampton Rams. Every Friday night after training we would play on the oval while the seniors trained. Most of the time we would play the timeless classic British Bulldog until it was time to head home.

Do you do any mindfulness or breathing activities?

u I try and do breathing and meditation work once a day for 10 minutes each. The things I like to do for mindfulness and switching off are to go surfing, play golf or taking the dog to the park. The best thing with all of these activities is that you are off your phone and in your own world.

If so, what and how do they help?

u I genuinely believe it resets you and gives you energy throughout the day. The other thing I’ve noticed is it helps your focus and concentration throughout the day last so much longer.

Why do you think the Coles Healthy Kicks program is so important for kids?

u This program helps get kids outdoors, be active and more present which is so important with technology today becoming more relied upon. Also getting kids to eat healthier and learn the basic ingredients for life such as learning to cook is so important when your body starts to grow as a young child.
